Did anyone see the daily show with jon stewart where he talks about how medical marijuana is illegal now? THe guy from NORML talked about how they need to realize if u can give morphine and oxycotins to a dying perosn you can probably give htem marijuana. Jon replys with "yeah man lets do it, and get some lava lamps." then continues to make potheads and stoners. PISSES ME off. sorry.
I saw that one it bothered me too...I guess we just have to remember he is a comedian and IT IS comedy central...he has to make light of everything. It did make me laugh when he said Do you know how long it would take the high times guys to bind a years worth of mags. LMAO
I still think he has the best news show on tv... :D which is pretty sad.... :rolleyes:

i thought it was pretty funny,but it does just put us further into the sterotyipical pothead veiw,but what people from norml have to realize it will not hapen untill the baby boomers are dead,wich will be in about 30-40 years,so yes i think marijuana will be leagalized in my lifetime(aswell as medical marijuana),but not any time soon,and i will not be staying in this country to stick it out.collin powel was great,acctualy that whole show was great,usualy johns so laid back with his gueat but he actualy talked to powell instead of jokeing with him(wich i love also) so it made for a good interveiw.and i liked the moment of zen(sp?) where they were burning all the pot and the one guy is standing in the cloud of smoke :)
I actually really like the daily show. I watch it whenever I ahve the chance too because it's the only news show that I can tolerate. All the big names are either way too right or way too left. I consider myself liberal but I don't want to watch a news station that gives it with a liberal twist, ya know what I mean?

Lmao, did anyone see the thing on that same episode where they go back and revisit ppl and interview them. And they are interviewing a guy who was doing guns for tots, and he did it in harlem, lol he like brings the guns there and this black chick is just screaming "GO AWAY, GO AWAY, GO AWAY!" LMFAO! that made me laugh so hard. lol and that guy was such a pussy.....see i dont understand tho is shit like that real or what?

When Jon Stewart said the bit about lava lamp, blahblahblah... I got the impression that he was being super tongue-in-cheek. Sorta taking the stereotype & laughing at *it*, not at the NORML guy. I'm sure there's a more concise way to explain what I mean, but I can't think of it right now.
I think he does that sort of thing a lot, to make the point that many of our stereotypes are just silly. I mean, he talks about smoking himself, & he's sitting behind the desk in a suit & tie, so there ya go. :)
Precisely. This is known as SATIRE. He is saying medical marijuana users aren't exactly the people who fit the bill as the stereotypical stoner, and its silly that the government is treating them that way. Hoping that someone will see it and say, hey this is crazy, these people aren't busting out their lava lamps, they aren't moving to harder drugs, and they aren'y wastes of life. They are simply sick people who would like to use a safe, relatively side effect free, and natural drug, to improve their quality of life.Quote:

Penguin, to your question about if it's real or not... I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that the issues & people they interview (like the toy gun guy, haha) are indeed 'real' & take themselves pretty darned seriously. The commentary & silly interviews are the poking fun part, which is great. I love it when the person being interviewed isn't sure what to make of it & gets all flustered. Makes me wonder how they get people to agree to be interviewed at all... I guess just clueless people mostly.
