Why so good in Jamaica?

When we went to Jamaica in March, I had the BEST smoke ever. It had been some time since I'd smoked (the span of 2 pregnancies, plus a few years), and the stuff in Jamaica was unbelievable. There is nothing I like more than smoke that just makes me laugh hysterically--seriously. We are having a "girls weekend" coming up, and I have been put in charge of finding something "good" for us. I am certainly not seasoned when it comes to buying....so here's my question. Is there some type in particular that makes you giddy like that? Or does it just depend on other factors? Last thing I want is for the lot of us to fade off into the night!!!! Yes, I feel like a complete dingbat here...but it's not like I can walk up to my mailman and ask him (although I've been thinking about it...kind of the hippie type!!!). Thanks in advance!

We were asked about a dozen times at the airport...stayed away from them. The driver taking us to the resort asked, and we got it from him. Almost every employee at the resort asked my husband, but we were good to go. You could smell it burning from about 7 am until the wee hours of the morning all over the resort. The resort people treat you good...especially if you tip. I talked to some people who go to JA several times a year, and they told us who to talk to and who to avoid. No issues while we were there...just lots of fun :) Hell, whatever you have left over you can leave behind for housekeeping or pass on to guests who aren't leaving yet! (Sucks to leave anything behind, but I wasn't going through customs with it!). I think because we were at a resort, with no need to really "leave", we were a bit safer than had we gone "out" to try and find something. Who knows. I am looking forward to going back next year, but am NOT waiting that long to smoke again! :rolleyes:

i believe what you are looking for would be sativa.......it produces a more energetic high where as indica gives you the more "stoned" feeling when you dont' wanna do nothing but just sit there. good luck finding anyone to buy from that can actually tell which kind they are selling you (maybe it's diffrent in other parts of the country/world but around here no one knows strain names or type..)

Thanks :) I would have to agree that most don't know what they are getting or selling. Back before kids, my husband used to get this smoke from a guy he worked with. Made me laugh for about 15 minutes then I would say "I have to go lay down." Skipped right over the mellow, munchie stage...went right to sleep. Definitely DON'T want that happening :)

Yeah sativa = high, indica = stoned.

The only way I know of to tell them apart at all is that most indicas I've seen have been very dark green.

Now I didn't say I was SURPRISED that there was weed in JA...just how GOOD it was. Never had anything like it, and was curious if any experts out there knew why. (although I am sure the Caribbean sea, 90 degree temps and loads of Rum helped somewhat)

Don't get that stuff. It is a WASTE of money. The high lasts for about 20 seconds. That is legal to buy in the states but shitty imo. :)

Yes, you definately want a Sativa dominent strain if the high you want is a laughing, energetic, head kind of high. I reccommend Kali Mist, Fruit Punch, Western Winds just to name a few.

In general Indicas are darker then Sativas. Also if trying to find one in particular I'd look at the density of the actual buds. I think Indica tends to be denser while Sativas have fluffier buds.

Thanks all. Since I am in a pinch, someone is getting me hydro (only have 3 days to find some smoke). Person is real reliable, but I've heard mixed things on hydro. Thoughts? Again--we have a SUPER small window. So this is no time to be picky! Just looking to kick back with my girls, smoke a bit...drink a bit...hang poolside, and have a good time. If I can EVER find someone in this town we live in, I can be more selective. We move every 12-18 months, so I never get to "know" anyone! (5 states in 5 years...gets OLD!!!!) No wonder I need some smoke! :eek:

Hydro can be good or bad, just like a soil weed. Apparently in some regions hydro is used a synonym for good weed, but around me its just water grow weed. All I can say as far as the what variety to buy, ask around, see who has trees, and what kind of effects people are having when they smoke them. Then try and get whomever tells you about the effects you desiree to hook you up with their dealer.

Oh, also, I've found if you drink a little caffine even with the drowsier types of weed you can have a more energetic high. So what I like to do with more indica type weed, is smoke several times, and drink caffine at the same time, and stop with the caffine about 2 hours before I want to pass out. Also, the weed may not have been THAT great, just the fact that you didn't smoke in a long time could have been enough to really get you blazed.

You assume I won't continue to smoke. ;) See, I hadn't done it in so long, although I'd have loved to. Again between kids and moving, just didn't really have the time or connections. Kids are getting older, mom is going on "retreats" with her best of friends, and I really just LIKE it, dammit! Looking to do it MUCH more often then I've been. Forgot what i was missing out on!!! Then again, it was the stuff in the past that made me "go lay down" in 10 minutes, that made me think I wasn't missing out on much. Fast forward 7 years, I have the GREAT stuff in Jamaica, and I am like "Now THIS is the shit I am talking about!!!". So it's kind of rekindled my interest....looking to have some on hand all the time, actually! We have a nice 3.5 acres and build a fire down by the stream....I can see me in my hammock, smoking away, drinkin a few and I've got to get back in the mix!!!! :p

No, weed isn't legal in jamaica...but it's about as common as Pepsi in the US!!! Lots of weed and hash available. Mushrooms ARE legal, and there are all kinds of cafes and "tea houses" that serve them...in omelettes, teas, you name it!

It's kind of the "unofficial" agrigultural crop of Jamaica. Great stuff too!

That HUGE batch of weed in JA was $60 US. I've heard as low as $40, as high as $100....but I wasn't complaining!!!! Yep, shrooms are legal...and mushroom tea is very popular! no wonder the Jamaican people are so damn happy all the time! :D

Well, probably locals in Jamaica don't pay near that. But you have all these tourists coming in who don't know any better. I've heard a lot of stories of people not wanting to pay that, so they go "out" into town to get it cheaper. They smoke it, and it's crap. Like I said, it was worth every penny....and it didn't take much. I'd do it again...and again....and again. LOL :)

Sorry but when I went there I felt soooooo safe buying. This is a way of life, people were running up and shoving sacks in my pocket telling me 10 bucks here or 20 bucks there. And the best part is is that hey need money so you can talk em down. Easy pickin'.

It definitely is a way of life in Jamaica. When we were there, this man was RUNNING up and down the beach yelling "Ceegarettes!!!!! Ceeeeeeeeeegarettes!!!!" He wasn't selling cigarettes, though. LOL At the resort we were at, guys who were selling would hang out with the security guards...too funny. Like I said, you could smell it all over the resort. When a friend of ours walked into our room, he looked around and said "This place smells like perma-ganj". LOL
