Grateful Dead is my favorite.

DRAGONFORCE!!!
Creedence is good getting-drunk-outisde in the summer music.Right now,got some superjoint on deck.
whatever kinda high im feeling. sometimes i want something that hits me, which i like rise against. sometimes i like mellow, real good music, like pink floyd and hendrix, and sometimes i want something that blows me away, like eminem.
I like to listen to more complex or abstract music that I normally woulden't be as receptive to when I'm sober. But all kinds of music are nice, being high just helps bring out all the little nuances.
lately its been bob dylan, bob marley, and the doors
That's the shit lol..Quote:

D/l Pantera "im broken",and if you don't like it,then you officially do not like metal.Cuz pantera be the greatest.Peace
I'm listening to Bill Withers "Lovely Day" right now. It is :-D
If you are going to listen to metal (at least for me) you have to have a perkier mental high as opposed to a heavy body stone. Otherwise it just irritates. Pantera is good stuff though. Metallica Black Album is the way to go for a "beginner" metalhead though. It's got enough "pop" in it, that its digestible, but its undeniably metal. I can see how if you were high and weren't into metal and someone put on some cannibal corpse how you could be really turned off by metal. It's an aquired taste.
I love jazz when I'm high. I love The Dead, Allmans, Airplane, Cream and Zappa too.
Jazz is amazing when I'm blazed. In spite of all the stereotypes, I have more concentration for things like jazz when I'm high. I have lots of jazz albums, but I usually can't be bothered with them when I'm sober, just because I won't concentrate on them. Jazz takes a deeper level of attentivness (at least for me) to enjoy, and that usually only comes when I'm high.
Exactly, I can't listen to jazz in the background, it's like a waste of the music that's going on. Bitches Brew is an epic, John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra is a way of life, and Thelonious Monk has to be my own personal idol. (I play jazz piano on the side, getting pretty good, though I say it who shouldn't :D )
Any coltrane is amazing to me, especially giant steps. I really dig on canonball aderly too, because he has such a laid back style. I'm a Jazz saxophonist, so my collection reflects it. I def dig your taste though. And your comment about the wasted music is right on point.
Nicely put...i agree with the "beginner" metalhead comment. After the black album metallica sucked.I personally do not like cannibal corpse.I cannot stand the dudes voice, and i do not really like their music in general.Where i draw the line is cradle of filth,i like them. But i do have a few six feet under tracks...silent violence is a killer track.Iam more of the "drink some bourbon in the boondocks and get crazy" metal dude...not "the talk about fucking stiff dead bodies get crazy" dude.Quote:

I'm a pretty dark guy, so I get a good giggle out of the necro shit, but never really take it seriously. Since you are a get drunk and get crazy metal guy, you should check out death. They pretty much pionered death metal, they are super tight, and pretty fast, with some interesting ideas. I think they even had gene hogland drumming for an album or two.
Yea cannibal does feed off that no one is harder then us.Alot of people like them roun' here cuz alex webster(or whatever the bassists name is)grew up in my hometown and alot of us knew him.
Death, never heard of them.Recommend a few tracks and ill give em a d/l.As long as i can understand MOST of the lyrics.
Well they have death vox, but not over the top. Anyways good tracks: Symbolic, Philosopher, Bite the Pain, Scavenger of Human Sorrow, and I really dig their cover of Judas Priest's Painkiller.
Dont get me wrong dude - if you look in my record and CD collection, you'll see Metalica RTL and Black album, and some other stuff in that genre(from 'back in the day')...what can I say ; I grew out of itQuote:

If metallica is as far as you got in the metal scene again I can see your frustration. Thats like saying Nora Jones is as far as you got in the jazz scene. There are more interesting, more mature (well some of them anyways) metal groups. I'm not saying you WILL dig metal, but I can see why you were turned off if ALL you got to listen to was metallica.Quote:
