Why can't I get a job?????
I fucking NEED a job, but the whole process is such a bitch.
I'm a very respectable looking citizen (in fact I look rather nerdish, which has gotten me out of trouble so many times -- cops take one look at me and think, by my dress alone, that I'm a mormon -- when I'm the EXACT opposite). My resume is short, but not too bad.
Places never call. I can't even get a fucking interview. I call and they say they'll call me.
I know so many stupid, shabby and unrespectable looking people who have jobs -- how in the fuck do they get them??

im 16, have literally no CV and i managed to get a really high paid IT job.
Just go to the interview, and dont be a clone, actually talk to the guy, chat with him

im a stupid, shabby dissrespectfull looking person and i dont even know how i got a job..i have a criminal record too. I just applied at like 30 places and one called me back.

Being a working musician, finding a job for me is really hard also, because jamming in the basement, rocking a bar, and controlling a drunken harmonica player aren't necessarly most appealing skills to put on a resume. You never mentioned what kind of job your looking for or what kind of credentials you have (college education, high school diploma, just looking for a high school job for extra money), but I'm just going to assume you're looking for a low level service job or what not for some extra bud money on the weekends (because that's what I work).
Just put in application in at every grocery store, fast food joint, and anything else that floats your boat that you can get to. Keep a list of where and when you applied at and call them. If they say they'll call you back, give them awhile, and then call them again. Show them you really want this job and you're not going to give up until they give you a yes or no answer. Then once you finally got the interview set up, go in there, and rule that place likes you're running for president. Show them that you're excited about the position, and would like nothing more than to make money for the company. Even if it's a cart boy at a grociery store, this is business, and to anyone else you may look like an idiot acting like a cart boy is some sort of dream job, and saying you have immense talents for pushing carts may seem to you like your the biggest loser in the world, but that's what employers like to hear. Then when you get the job, don't slack off and show them that you're worth their money.

You might be overqualified for the job you're looking for. One of my friends is intelligent, dresses well, does great at interviews and she has a masters. Yet shes been rejected at starbucks, grocery stores, and other places. Go figure.

That's what you have to do right there. Just apply EVERYWHERE. Sooner or later someone will call you back. If you just want some cash and a job soon that's the easiest way to do it. Also, be forward but not pushy when you go apply. Hope you find one.

maybe you need to work on your solicitating skills? who knows man, why don't you ask them why they didn't consider you for the job. Atleast they'll be giving info to work with for future interviews...
as yet I haven't had to much difficulty getting a job (and I have tats piercings n dreadlocks and live in a conservative village)

For lots of pplz, not having a job is like not having a gf. It just seems like nobody wants you, but as JSTA says keep applying everywhere. It's all about being the right guy at the right place at the right time. And you only need 1 hit.
For most people, gettin a job becomes easy. The hard part is getting a job that you like and pays enough.

Heres some tips from George Carlin.
1) Let them know who is in charge, when you go in there, tell them you want a desk near the door so you can leave promptly at 5.
2) Let them know that you will be needing Friday - Monday off to party and recover.
3) Point to the picture on his desk and say "Who's the cunt?"
If these fail, then I'm sorry I couldn't help.

I'm currently job hunting to. I have applied at a temp place and went in for an interview, but they haven't called me with any job offerings yet. I also applied at Barnes and Nobel, Games by James, and OfficeMax just this past weekend and I will be following up on those tomorrow and maybe calling the temp place back too. Finding jobs really sucks expecially when you haven't worked in over a year :o
