HEY guys need help! first time grower!

Hey EVERYONE, I would first like to start off by saying that this will be the beginning of my first grow op. I have been reading about growing for weeks now, so I can try and make a good attempt, but I ran into a dilemma. The problem is I wont have any good ventilation. I have a small fan, but thats all I have for ventilation. I will be growing from my closet which is a good size walk in closet, and I cant cut any kind of holes in the walls or door because I am renting. Also for the fact that I am trying to be stealth. I will be growing three plants using several CFL lights, and I am using coco coir as the medium. I live in an apartment and I am also worried about the smell, and I understand without ventilation it is going to be hard to get rid of. I have already bought all my material for the op, so getting a grow tent is not an option. I am willing to buy more material if needed, but I don't want a tent. What do I do?? any good suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :smokin:

Without ventilation you're wasting tour time. Build a door to replace the one that's on it out of panda plastic make a intake at the bottom and a exhaust at the top and run the exhaust through a charcoal filter.

building a door is not an option, i need to be stealthy and that will not work. my grow station is in a good section of the closet against the wall though. do you think I can use the panda plastic to section of that space? will you need pictures to understand my set up? What do you mean by wasting my time? can I not get any growth with no ventilation with cfl's?

I am thinking about doing this with the exhaust at the top, for the intake what do i do? i have read somewhere that a hole or two will do the job ??

Ok, gotta be 'stealthy'. Gotta be deodorized. It's located in the back of a closet. No holes, no exposed ducts. CFL lighting. Coco coir. Three plants...

Keep the apartment temperature as low as necessary, use the exhaust fan, filter out of the closet somehow. And passive supply air as cool as necessary. Experiment.

Well, if you can section off the back grow section, you can do the vent thing lipps suggested on that & leave the closet door open, just close the door when you need to hide it, but yeah, you need ventilation.

thanks great advice, this is what I think I will be doing. What do you mean by "filter out of the closet"? Do you mean I need to have the ducting out of the closet so it will push air outside into my room? I am planning on leaving closet completely open or cracked. whatever is necessary.. I also have a window I can keep cracked. Thanks

Well, if you just circulate the same air it isn't going to cool so well, is it? So I would vent the exhaust out of the closet some how. Otherwise you could just use a circulating fan to blow on the light and the plants and deodorize some other way. ( I posted a great idea just a while ago). Good Evening.

In post #3 you asked if you could use the plastic to section off your grow space. I'm assuming you ment from the rest of the closet since you said the back area was going to be your grow. Yes, you can do that. In that plastic, cut out in take holes in the bottom, go to walmarts or where ever & get a sm round fan, cut hole to fit in the top of plastic & mount the fan blowing outwards. On the back side of the fan, place your charcoal pad. If it gets too stinky & this pad doesn't handle the problem, get a fan forced charcoal air cleaner with ion/ozone emitters. They come in various sizes & prices. You can get charcoal pads at petsupply places for fish tanks. If too sm. Sew some together to met your size needs. Once you get this all together, just leave closet door open untill you need to hide it. If you build up too much heat, get another sm fan & aim it at the lights. I would burn scented candles in the room the closets in. I like the smokers candles from cig/tobacco stores. They're designed to cover strong odors. ~~~ PEACE! ~~~

without ventilation the plant can't breath because it takes in co2 and expels oxygen that oxygen builds up and is toxic to the plant , water and nutrients are taken up by the roots and transported to the leaves where the nutes are turned into energy so if that water can't evaporate the plant can't grow that's why you need a good ventilation system. you can make an enclosure but it will still need to be vented and light tight, cfls put out heat so you need to be able to keep it cool.

thanks, I am using black/white poly film as my tent material. there are a few cracks through the edges of the tent. what can i use to fix this ?
