drOOpy leaves for nOOb

Need help. Stat! Closet grow...My fan leaves have begun to droop. Not just the leaves. The entire branch. Only the fan leaves..other plants in different location, same setup and everything, no problems except the burn mentioned below. This one, I've had various issues thru the growth but nothing drastic. This seems to be an issue I can't ignore. I had nute burn which I flushed and cut down. I had inadequate lighting so I upped the lumens. Did great. Temp always 68°-75°. Unsure of humidity and pH but humidity shud be fine since it hasn't been an issue yet. I use organic nutes bio root 1-1-1 and CaMg and miracle grow on occasion. I kno I shud stick to a schedule but I don't know one. So I change it up on as I feel needed. But its not up to me its the plants choice. Either way I water daily with plain tap and occasionally nutes. Been fine. But I've noticed I haven't given the soil more then two days if a full two days to dry out. The top is usually moist. My system has been, if the towel on the bottom of the pots dry...water...no? So I'm going to skip a few waterings to attempt a resolve.. But 2 1/2 mo into grow now I have this. I raised the lights and like clockwork the leaves lowered. I can't figure this out. And they get lower by the hour. Someone got suggestions!? Check the pics. Any feedback much appreciated.:pimp:

Are you using a flourescent light? If so, you want it close to the plant. It doesn't look bad, but you should put a small fan in there to knock it around some to strengthen the stem. It actually looks pretty good.

Yea I'm using a fluorescent setup wit two 1200lumens bulbs along the top and two smaller 75w grow bulb (left side) and 65w clf (right side) on each side angle down towards middle of plant. Since the last post I haven't watered. But the leaves still have this droopiness. I added the fan like u said and its still the same. Not expecting immediate results. The leaves haven't really gotten any lower but I'm keeping a close eyes on everything. BUT, now, the top four inches maybe little less of the plant is curving to the rightabout half an inch. Kind of like its trying to bend towards the light source. But the lightings evenly spread. One build each side. Fluorescent on top. Could the cfl brightness be the cause? But why would it bend now? Still healthy. I don't know. I'm hoping for the best. As always, any response greatly appreciated:pimp:

The lower leaves look pretty big, so I'm guessing that it's the leaf weight that is pulling the branch downward. Not to worry. However, you might have another problem with the plant height. The farther light is from a plant, the more the plant will stretch so you want to keep light close to the top of the plant. To promote the plant's bushiness, getting it to grow lower and out more, you might consider cutting off the top of the plant. It will still grow upwards, but out as well. Let the soil dry out some before watering again. I'm not sure that Bioroot is going to be enough NPK nutes for a growing plant. It looks good so far, but if you see yellowing of the lower leaves, you'll have a nitrogen deficiency and will have to add some fert kicker. It would be interesting to see what happens here, to see if Bioroot is not just a supplement, but enough NPK to grow an entire plant through its lifespan. Just stick with the bioroot and see how things go. You really need to let the soil dry out however, like maybe go a week without watering, because that's how oxygen gets to the roots - through dry soil. Roots need oxygen and too much water pushes air out of the soil. Nice plant so far. Keep us posted on your progress and what changes you make, if any.

Yea I thought the leaves were pretty big. So that makes me worry a bit less. As of now, I moved the two side lights closer, and left the fluorescent as is. And that 9 inches. Closer? I really appreciate your tips and advice. The nitrogen has always been a thought in my mind. Keeping a close eye there as well. You've help more than I expected anyone. BUT, I have two more questions I feel you could provide good info for me as well as the other growers who view this thread. Below I have a few pics. First, the top of the plant, the newest growth. Your advice was to top it. Where would I do this exactly at. And at 2 1/2 ft tall almost three months of veg growth, is this an appropriate time? And can I do this to other areas on the plant? The other pictures are of two leaves on the plant, only two with burn or whatnot that continues to kill the leaf. Which I feel they are going to die.the small yellow leaf is the lowest fan leaf on the plant. Since birth. The other is three nodes up. Slight browning of edges. Any ideas? where to top at? at the very top of the plant were the leafs grow at or you can just FIM it by just cutting 60% of it same effect but it will still grow up topping starts 2-4 new colas or tops theres also super cropping wich creates a thicker stem for the buds weight
is three months of veg appropriate? if i was you i would start flowering because the plant grows 1 to 2 thirds in the flowering stage and if you grow it to tall the buds will be smaller and all over the place see a plant"s bud capacity is already preditermined by its genetics
and your final question is can you top anywhere? no not anywhere because if your plants loose to much veg growth it will go into shock and die but i have seen people top 2 to 3 internodes down the people that done this said it creates 4 main colas..

Lower leaf yellowing is usually a sign of Nitrogen deficiency. I think that's what's going on there. If that is a 5 gallon bucket it might be enough to last the entire grow, space-wise that is. You need to add some fert and at times like this I usually recommend that a person use Dynagrow 7-9-5. There's really only two ferts from Dynagrow and I suspect it's because they realize it's all you really need. The 7-9-5 fert is actually for veg but you've been growing that plant for long enough that you need to put it on a 12/12 light cycle, 12 hours on, 12 hours off, to get its hormones to change from growing to budding. Growhand is right, the plant will continue to grow but it will be less than if you gave it more lighting. About topping, it doesn't really matter. You can just cut off about one inch off the top. If the branches get too long, you can cut them off, but not too much as the plant needs the leaves to convert light to sugars in photosynthesis. The fertilizer will set you back close to $20. Several years ago it was only $11 and was the shit to use as it has pretty much everything plants need. Just use that and good potting soil and you won't have to do anything else. Just be carefull not to overdo it. Follow the directions on the back where you use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon in a gallon of water for soil grows. It can be used in hydro too at a different strength. If might better to the the other fert, the one for flowering. It will provide nitrogen, but considerably more phosphorus, which is needed for flowering. However, I suspect that the 7-9-5 will probably be okay for you're use here. If you don't want to spend the extra money, you can get something like Schultz for alot cheaper at places like Walmart. Schultz

Went to Walmart. Looked for Schultz. Might be out of season here? Winter northeastern. I'll go to the local grow store they'll have it. At 7 am I'm turn in the lights out. Since both recommend it. Appreciate your wisdom growhand. I kinda want to let one more node grow before topping. But I will. I have another small sprout I need to remove and place under 24/hr. Yes those are the signs of the start of flowering but about the topping method topping is for the veg growth wouldnt do no good in the flowering stage and could put stress on your plant. In your next grow that is when you should test out topping and other methods O and dont forget to start your flowering nutrients on NPK you need more P (phosphorus) and little N (nitrogen) and K (potasium) i would keep that the same.Also 2 weeks before you chop it down give it no more nutrients and start flushing wich is the prossec of watering your plants more and draining the exess. this will clean the plant of any toxin and give you a more cleaner and tasteier smoke. PS flushing will make the leafs start to turn yellow and fall off dont worrie this is natural. just let them fall off dont clip them....Hope this helps with the flowering stage Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Topping is done to reduce the height and won't hurt in flower. The plant will continue to grow in flower and if you're running out of upward space, then you can cut the top. If those little stems start to grow what look like balls on them, those are sacks of pollen, which mean it's a male and won't produce THC resin. If that is your only plant and it's male, you won't get anything useful from it; unless maybe you can use the leaves but that won't be much for you. Females produce the white hairs that turn red or brown. That's the sex of this plant you want.

I appreciate all the advice for sure. I'm two days into flower. No balls no hairs yet. But I'm anxious as f*<k! Even tho the branches seem kind of long there's new growth at every node on the way up. So I hope this is a girl. And not stereotyping, but I hope she thick n juicy ;). I will deff get some better fert soon for flowering. I'm going to do a dose of the CaMg for one water just until. If you think I shouldn't let me know. Leaves still drooping. Still haven't watered. But next nodes fan leaves are starting to brown. Slight concern. Nitrogen, I know. But I think when I get good fert that will solve that problem. So anyways I'm getting lost in convo but my main reason is to strictly identify where I top the plant. Pic below...The red line points to the new growth with a 3cm stem below. And the blue line is obviously the firmer main stem. No offense growhand, but I'm very secure with the choice to top during flower. I think.... so if I do. I'd just like to know the exact location to do this. Like I said before, this one plant is my baby. From a good strain. So I have it personally. The other plants are still precious for me. But harder to get pics of as they are not here. Attachment 289403 this should answer your question but i still think its doesnt have enough time to reform the heads and this also wiill cause your plant to put more energy towards nitrogen intake to recover the heads when it needs to consentrate on phophorus intake for flower production

Seems too damaging and I can't bring myself to risk it... on to what matters.I don't think this plant is low on nitrogen. Its always a thought but every day I read I find other possibilities. My leaves are still brown edging/tipping. Not watering didn't have much effect. After four or five days I watered yesterday. Although with extra lumens a slight raise has occoured. From the bottom fan leafs to about the third node up are darker brown and krispy on the edges. And its SLOWLY Working its way up. (Attached pics). They will die I'm sure. The further nodes up are just droopy and slight brown tip. Have been for a while. Light added tho... But I'm concerned. I don't want this to work all the way up. I've read that smoking CIG/weed around the plant is bad for it. Clogs the plants breathing. But I've heard its ok with good circulation. So I think this could b a problem. The plant could have some disease I forgot the name of from the cigs. Or it could b the nitrogen. Or it could be root rot? But from the third or fourth node up the growth is so vibrant and flourishing. Confused? Even the branches that droop above the third node are nice looking. Maybe just dropping leaves to promote higher growth? I've read so much I can't find a positive answer. So I'm corantining the plant. No smoke no nutes by it open window when smoking. Let's see huh? I just find it odd that the new leaves up top are sticking straight up and the lower ones droop. (Pics). So this is what I picked up. Fox farm tiger bloom. Seems to have everything you guys are advising me to get. So. I'm going to do a quick flush of the old nutes. 1 week. Then start this. But I need to flush with a pH tester. I just bought one as well. So ill test the run off. My tap pH level is high at 7.0. So I need to lower the pH before I flush. How do I lower the pH of my water? How long shud I flush? I'm going to water every two days then start the tiger bloom. The added light has been helping. I'll keep y'all informed. Thanks:pimp:

You don't need to pH your water. If you water is a problem, you can use distilled bought from a store. It's probably better to use anyway.

Well I'm going to test the runoff after my next water. Jus to be sure. I emptied the closet of everything. Whiped the walls down so any cigarette tar is gone. I hope this tiger bloom levels out my nutes and perks these leaves up. It said the nutes lowers pH and after a trial of test my pH is about 7.5-8.0. I'll keep thee informed! A.ã.ä.�.:pimp:

i think now its chemical burns and if your stems are turning red that is a magniesm deficiency you can fix it with epsom salt (fix the chemical burn before adding) as for yield it cant be determined because we dont know what strain it is but i guess mybe a half ounce? o and about the drooping leaves i think its just the temperature and how much light the lower leaves are recieving and if your useing tap water insead of buying destiled water make it by leaving your water sitting outside for 24 or more hours.(this evaporates all of the bleach that is but in tap water)

Ok now that's dissapointing...half oz? Oye. Question...I want a max yield, plant is pushing 3 ft one week of flowering and was going to start new nutes at 1/4 streght. Can I switch back to 24hr lighting to get back to veg and grow more for my yield? And use new nutes at the same time? I don't want a Hermie and I've heard this can be potienial cause for that. Need response asap! Please....

Don't give too much fert. You want your lighting to be 12/12 to put the plant into flowering. Cut the top back some as the plant will continue to grow in flowering, unless you have plenty of verticle space.

I do have plenty of vertical space. Shud I not re veg? I alrdy changed cycle to 18/6. Someone says I'll Hermie..lol and some say I won't. Some expert opinions needed. There's hairs everywheres so I don't think it will stress it bad. Plus the growth hasn't slowed at all. And its been almost three days. So if I'm not safe let me know. A little update below. Remember plants a lil over 3 ft...just about 3 month old. New hairs at almost every growth and there's a growth at every node. Alrdy long hairs in lenght and no sign of balls. And I think its safe to say, by the time I do flower I'll b well off more then growth and predicted. But I don't put it past anything..:pimp:

You still have at least of month of grow time left if you 12/12 right now. It will probably grow another foot in flower. If you want to grow it in veg, which is your 18/6 light cycle, go ahead, but remember it will also grow in flower. If you grow it to 4 feet in veg, it will probably grow to 5 feet in flower, maybe more. If you really insist on growing it bigger, and remember it will get bushier too, I'd transplant to an even bigger container. Otherwise, it want it to stay under 6 feet guaranteed, then flower it now. If you could put more flouro or a sodium on it, it would grow faster. You could get a 4 foot flouro shop light and get bulbs designed for plants that are yellow-orange-red. Home Depot carries them.

I've trimmed a few fan leaves off at the bottom so far over the past weeks. But now its turning into a jungle...where can I start lollipopping this chick?:pimp:

keep it in 12/12 to late to switch back to veg too risky and start lollypopping from the lower branches on up its ultimatlt up to you an that but i see it is really starting to flurish:thumbsup: thanks for the update

I've been on reveg for quite a while now. No nuts yet! :thumbsup: but here some updates for u guys. I'm going to flower in ten days. Shes pushin 3 1/2 ft. Getting pretty frothy up top lol....shes got about 12 strong tall growths that are pushing to bud. And a lot of the stems are turning DEEP purple. Darker that the pics allow.feel free to comment! Or If u have any questions feel free to ask! :pimp:

So this plant is going to take a lonnnnng time to finish flowering. Its been back on the 12/12 cycle for almost 2 months exact. Its a slow grow but the yield will be well worth the wait. Here's a update on the growth .. The pics do no justice...still trying to distinguish a strains. SUPER STINK I call it..... ENJOY :pimp:
