...ok i know this isn't weed related but since we (probably) all use computers here i guess it could apply.....does anyone see the irony in adware/spyware that tells you, "your computer is infected with adware/spyware...click here to have it removed".....this is making me want to smash my computer repeatedly with a sledge hammer....i'm very computer literate...but for some reason i can't get rid of this stuff!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!....btw i'm outta weed and have been for awhile...so that's why i'm posting this...now bring on the "stupidest post ever" comments lol i dunt care!

Spy ware is a bitch to get off the computer. That shit happened to me one time, and I had to take the damn thing to get fixed. I'd suggest that you delete everything off the computer, and use the reboot disk that sets it back to factory defaults. I've wanted to smash my computer many times, or take some explosives to it, hahahahahaha.

.....does anyone see the irony in this?
nah it's alright a lil persitince (sp?) and help from spybot search and destroy and ccleaner (short for crap cleaner...both free btw if anyone has problems with thier computer....they work very willl) and basic knowledge of what should be on my computer (as in under program files) i can get rid of it....but it is so damn hard to do...cuz when you think you got it all deleted more pops up.....DAMNIT THERE GOES ANOTHER ONE!!!!! guess i got more work to do lol....oh yea....and i just reformatted my hard drive (basic thing you mentioned except mine has a built in second hard drive so it's a bit easier) like 3 days ago....i'm not looking forward to doing that again...cuz the only game i can play on dial up....is too big for cds and takes 10 HOURS TO DL! ....so yea i'll avoid all that if i can.....man impatients just doesn't pay off....if i would had waited til i had everything set up perfectly this wouldn't be happening.....
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
the irony? in spyware? i dont get it
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
i got this same virus, its a bitch. Supposedly everytime you delete it it renames itself or some wild shit. I can't get rid of it either....spybot/adaware cant even fuck with it. I suggest backing up everying and restoring or formatting.
fuckin ponr sites. evil.

.....does anyone see the irony in this?
after downloading and installing ad-aware, McCauley Caulkin no longer has the problem you speak of.
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
.....i got rid of it finallly.....i had like over 100 adware/spyware and four viruses...then today my computer fried because of a power surge and i had to go buy a new power supply....bu ti'm back...oh yea and to the dude with the virus...have you tried mcafee? in my opinion that is the best of all antivirus.....it cost a lot somtimes tho....the one i had before aol put out their free one (which works just as well as the ones from the store) was like 130 bucks....
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
I got this McAfee internet security thing that I paid like $40 for, a waste of a good eighth. Ever since it's been on my computer it has slowed it down ten fold and seems to infect more files than adware and spyware. Now that's true irony.
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
...well that sux...it's the only one i've ever trusted....norton did that to my computer...have you updated the mcafee ever?
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
get ad-adware remover and download ZoneAlarm or the microsoft firewall beta
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?

.....does anyone see the irony in this?
if you guys have trouble getting software without fuckin with shareware and all that, then get bearshare or limewire or kazaa lite....with computers that can't handle any adware, i recommend kazaa lite...but if you've got ADaware (which isn't hard to find), then it'll get rid of all the adware and spyware...try doing a search for kazaa lite....it's harder to find now for free, but it's out there....we have a 300 mb/s cable connection here, and i find that limewire seems to download the fastest....also i know of some websites with good cracks and serial numbers and all that for bootlegged software if anyone needs links...hope this helps!
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
oh also i wanted to add that kazaa lite is adware/spyware free! it has nothing attached with it that gives you problems or feeds off your computer....it's just a little harder to find now, and it doesn't download quite as fast as limewire....limewire is about the best i've seen....download.com has it all, with descriptions and ratings...
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
btw, AOL is worse for your pc than any spyware or virus....

That's the irony he's talking about, people.
And, ya, spyware fucking sucks.
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
oooooh shit, okay, i get it now! I didn't read it properly..
Yeah, I fucking hate that! A popup or whatever opens up and says "Your computer is infected with adware or spyware... click here to blah blah blah" so you click it and it fucks your pc up or tries to install some shit or redirects you to some random webage. Fucking fuckers.

If something wont remove chances are it's running as a background process. To remove it you will need to start in safe mode so that it won't start up. It should then be removable. There's a catch though, in some cases you need to remove it manually and that means finding the bastard.
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
oh c'mon.... i'e never argued a move before, but this is so lounge talk!
it's not asking for help or anything.... just general talk about spyware/adware..
i'll make this known (as i'm about ot post it in the feedback forum) but seriously i don't see this belonging here.... to me tech related/computers means someone trying to look for help, not just expressing frustration.....
-
.....does anyone see the irony in this?
If you can't remove some programs or spyware that's running in the background the download a program called "cleanse uninstaller" (just google it) and click on the startup wizard button and it shows a list of all the programs running on your computer. ie...everything that's running when you press Alt Ctrl Del

If you get some stuff on your computer and cant get rid of it (find it) I use HiJackthis to read my registry files and delete it from there. If you cant get it deleted you might want to try running your computer in safe mode and then you should be able to delete it. I also suggest using Microsofts Malicious Software removal Tool, its free on their website.

save everything you need on to dvd's or a portable harddrive. format it, and start over, its the only proven way to get rid of the shit, and saves a lot of time over fucking around using useless programs, and trying to find it yourself.

I used to have a lot of problems with spyware/malware that got past my free anti-virus programs. (I was using Adaware and AVG) I had given up on system resource hogging programs like Norton and McAfee long ago.
I did my research and found Spyware Doctor which is a great anti-virus/spyware/malware program. It removed all the crap that was on my computer and I haven't had a single problem since. It is pretty cheap (comparatively speaking) at up to 3 computers for one low price of $40.00. There is also an annual renewal fee of $40.00. For me it's worth it for the peace of mind it delivers without hogging my system resources and acting like a virus itself.
I also highly recommend a free download called SnoopFree which will detect and block keyboard hook attempts. It works great and I have been surprised at what programs attempt to hook my keyboard. They haven't updated it for Vista yet so for now it is only good for XP users.

Norton's one of the best in my opinion..seeing day after day infected computers..it was the one that did the best job..
the biggest thing to spyware is knowing what not to download and what to download..I use no virus protection on my computer and I get no virus or spyware nonsense..

Norton is good, but it is also a resource hog. I think it is more suitable for a business network than a home PC. I used it for years, but have noticed a tremendous improvement in my PC's performance after switching to Spyware Doctor.
If you're interested, go to PC Mag and read the review on Spyware Doctor. It found and blocked more than even Norton did in their trial.

Norton 2009 runs nearly as though it's not there..they lost a lot of business because of what you're talking about, and fixed the problem..it's a lot different now, trust me

My bad. I haven't used it for years and apparently my info is dated.
I'll take your word for it. :)

Spybot does wonders for spyware. You have to watch out if you have a regular antivirus app that your running too though, as sometimes it will see spybot as a problem...
