First Grow- Need Plenty of Advice
So you guys give lots of advice and I've viewed a lot of your posts. So where to start. Ok I have obtained some seeds from a friend. They are mixed so Idk the strains. I'm starting them in a wet paper towel and let the root tips be exposed. Or germinate them. Where to go from there?
Thanks,

After the taproot begins to show put the seedling into your medium, about 1/4" and cover. After about 3 to 7 days you should begin to see the small round starter leaves. I am unsure of what your choice of growing medium is? I could be a lil more helpful if we knew..
Tell us a lil more..!

Like Jina said. Itd be good to know your medium, but depending on what way you go... Soil: After taproot shows, Id start with a 16oz Solo cup filled with soil (FoxFarm Ocean Forest), covered with about 1/4" soil. If using (FFOF) do NOT use nutrients. After about 3 weeks the plant should be about 5 to 8 inches and probably ready for a new pot. Transplant to a 1 gal potter and begin nutrients. Start at 1/4 strength and go up from there. After another 30 to 40 days it should need a new pot. Heres where you need to think of the size of plant you are wanting. If you want a smaller plant go with a 3 gal pot, Larger plants need larger pots, so 5 to 7 gallons is plenty.
Hope this helps a little..!

If going with hydro, when taproot shows, place it into to a 1 or 4 inch rockwool cube. The cube is going to need to be buffered so its pH is low, about 5.5, To achieve this you can soak the cube in a mixture of water and lemon or lime juice or Ph down. After about 3 to 7 days you should see the round starter leaves show. Hydro requires a lot of nutrients and watering, so you'll need to buy them first thing. Make sure you read the labels on the nutrients and start at 1/4 strength of what the label says. You can increase as needed or if the plant isn't showing any signs of stress you can up the dosage. Watering becomes a main issue here. You'll need to keep the cubes moist but not soaked, so a spray bottle with a lite nutrient solution will help reduce over watering.
I wont go to deep into it until I am sure of your growing medium.
Good luck buddy!

Thanks so much guys, I will more than likely be starting them in a miracle gro moisture control potting soil. I know some say against this but a friend does it and his plants take off. My next question is I plan on moving them outside a friend of mine said to plant them into the ground where you're planning on growing them that way the chances of getting caught is a lot less. He also said the sun will serve as a ten times better light. Tell me your thoughts im open for judgement as long as its positive! :D

Also I will be fertilizing all organic. I would like to learn to grow this weed as naturally as I can to feel more connected to nature. <--- total hippy hahahaha

Before you water the plant, try and get a weight of the dry soil. Water till you get 1/4 run-off, and re-weigh. This is one of the best way to go about it. If not, use your finger. Stick your finger into the soil up to your 2nd knuckle, if it comes out dry.. water it til you get 1/4 run-off.

I do believe the taproot is supposed to be pointing down, and 1/4" soil covering it is best. Don't worry bout the taproot it'll find its way down. Now you can do as adiitaff says, or you can jus leave em uncovered. The plastic wrap keeps it moist.

Alright thanks guys you've been a real help. I'm on a tight budget so an outside grow is my only choice, as of now, and I have the land to do it, I just wish to do it successfully.

Watch for pests.. Deer are going to be your biggest insult to crop. They eat every part of plant. You are going to need chicken wire to put up around the plants. Are you planning to plant directly into the earth, or keep em in large pots. If you keep em in pots you'll want no less than a 7 gal bucket.
You are also gonna want to have some sorta pesticide/fungicide to deal with the bugs and such that love to destroy your cannabis. Because you are growing outdoors, you can get the industrial stuff. Just remember to rinse and flush em really really well for the last 2 weeks before harvest.
Good luck man!

Yeah, Im starting them in a solo cup then moving them into the dirt when they are about 5-8 inches tall. I am going to use some aluminum foil to allow the plants to absorb much more sunlight, and I need to invest in some pesticides. As for the deer, I have a plan in mind. I dont want to drag too much attention to myself. So we will see. My first plant sprouted!!! I may post a pic if you'd like to see!

Definitely post that pic. Id avoid using foil for any reason other than cooking. It causes hot spots on the plant, which in turn creates burn spots. Not to mention if you're not wanting the attention helicopters could probably see the foil easier than the plant its self. Maybe not, but its something to think about. The sun provides better light than anything you could build or purchase.
You wont need anything to help the light. The sun moves in a natural arc, a plant follows the sun. Wind creates just enough stress to create a strong and healthy stock as well as provide plant movement, which helps aid the sunlight in getting to the lower branches.

Lookin good..! You should cut the cup down to where there is about 1" between the soil and top of the cup. You have too much stagnant air inside the cup. You want a small breeze on the stem to keep it strong and fresh air circulation.
Keep it up yo!

Yeah, that probably would be a good idea. I'm thinking cutting small holes in the side (not where the soil is located), above it, this would allow the air to flow through it. Strengthening the stem, aerating the leaves and relieving stress. Keeping the plant female. I'm at a friends house. Got the solo cup sitting in about 1/4 inch of water to pull in the water in case I don't get home in time. It's also under a light. Thanks Jina!
