One shoot is dying, pistils are dying too. Can anyone help?!
Hey guys, this is my first grow on almost 3 years. Ive always bought good genetics tho, no bad seeds or luck for me. And I believe that it's 100% worth it until you fund something you like. Now back to my plants, one of them is doing very well compared to the other. Any one kno what the problem is? It's only happening to the bud on one shoot. Other shoots have thier leaves yellowing. But this ones pistils are actually dying. Anyone kno what it is? Thanks for the help. I'm going to try and post pics but I'm using my phone right now. If anyone replys today I'll post pics asap

Hey, Thanks for the quick response, here are the pics. these first 3 are of the damaged plant, its only really happening on one shoot. the others are starting to yellow. Im 3 weeks into flowering, using Advanced Nutes super tea bloom (2.3-3-2) every 2nd watering, and ive used schultz bloom builder (10-54-10 or something) extremly low dose once, 1 week into flower. heat is not an issue, at 25 c/day, 18-19 c/night. anyone know whats up?

these are of the nicer looking one. kush hybrid.

If some older fan leaves appear to be extreamly dark, or slightly waxy, you may be overfeeding.. The downward leaf curl and narcosis,(dead tips) would indicate to me to much (n). Yor plants are fairly far along so do not panic. You could try just using water for the next while, and if they worsen, try leaching. I would also consider using something other than schultz, those numbers are extreme, and it is not a quality product.

Leaf curl and tip burn are signs of overfeeding, but yellow leaves show that the problem is not nitrogen. too much P or K is likely. all nutes are used seperately by plants so you can burn a plant with P for example, but the plant can still be deficient in N or K... or micro nutes.
You are not using too much Nitrogen. try backing off on your bloom feed strength. if the problem clears up, your good to go. If you cut back bloom nutes and the tip burn and leaf curl go away, but the leaves are getting more yellow ( they will) just add some nitrogen until the leaves begin to regreen. only small amounts of N though. too much N will hinder bud and flowering hormone production.

Thanks guys. I'll lighten up on the feedings. I thought that might be it. I think my ph is high too. I only have an aquarium ph test right now. And the water frOm my tap and the runoff seem to be ok (5.5-6.5) Even tho I can see salt on top of the soil. That use to be worse, after several large waterings it slowly went away. Too much feeding = salt buildup. So I'll lighten up big time. I also remember that I was feeding the other plant less too. And less often.

Nutrient disorders and their related effects Some info here, maybe helpful. If you are egiving that other plant less on pupose to figure out a happy medium, it is super fucking clever!

If you could take photos in white light, that would help.

your runoff seems a bit low, what is your ph going in(before and after adding nutes?) salt can lock out nutes(as well as ph imbalance) so you might need to leach the soil. lets say you think your N deficient and your N is actually locked out. so you think hey ill add more N and then there is a build of N which can affect ph, problem after problem. Its this kind of troubleshooting that seperates the pros from small timers. follow the charts and tell me that isnt confusing. im still learning. so remember and learn and try to log what you can. just remember it is written evidence, should legalities take a turn for the worse.

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to post new pics tmrw with better light. I'll also do another ph test and stuff. Also, any ideas for a N fert? Something more natural then chemically. If that makes sence to any of you. The yellowing is still pretty bad, although I've only been watering this past week and a half.
Any questions or comments? Go ahead and ask

Hey again. Ph at 7.5 after adding nutes. I usually let it sit a bit before watering. Runoff was 6.0-6.5. Just bought some b52 to hopefully get the green back in the fan leaves. In just starting 5 weeks I think, and hairs are beginning to amber. About 10%. Pics will need to wait until tmrw, im having cam probs. Also thinking of starting a pure sativa strain when these are dOne. I can say that I'm seeing new hairs coming from the dying shoot now, sO hopefully it's gonna be OK.

If you're using Advanced, I'd recommend using their bloom enhancers too.. I use nothing but AN, and rarely have a problem related to nutrients.. it's typically on a long flowering sativa (12-13 weeks) this is fixed by a simple low strength (350-400 ppm) flush with base nutrients only, followed by watering after it dries. I also never mix anything hotter than 2ml per liter. In other words, with a 2 part mix, 40 liters of water (just a bit over 10 gallons) would get 80ml of each. When stacking the other products use a 2:1 ratio of the enhancers; 1/2 the amount you used for either A/B of the two part. If your base is a single product, then 1/2 of that amount. With any additives, I like it to be no more than 850 ppm. B-52 is especially helpful if you've done something to stress a plant such as pruning or repotting. I'd get my pH in the range of 5.8 - 6.3 depending on strain, etc. Seems like sativas like it a bit more acidic..
Also agree with the other post, don't sweat it.. they're pretty far along.
So.. flush them, possibly lighten up on the nutes.. and you should be good. Also, I like nothing but water the last 2 weeks, even on a strain finishing in 8 weeks. For a real fast one that finishes in 50 days, I still flush at least the last 8 days. Makes for a clean burning, good tasting product.
Good luck!
Peace,
Farmer Rich

sativas tend to be be fickle not too mention patience. you willing to wait 90-110 days for product. your new runoff sounds better. hold off on your b52 for now, i reread this thread and your shcultz should be rinsed and then introduce some basic quality nutes. look at trichomes not hairs, to get the best harvest.

Thanks again, they are both supposed to be 8 week plants. Tho one seems much further along than the other. In just starting the 5th week I believe. Soo I'm going to flush them with a really low amount of npk? Then only water the next time?
The only reason I want to use the Schultz is because my buddy who grew a while ago used that stuff, and it was the best bud any of us had smoked, he flushed it 2 weeks before, and a week before harvest, so I don't think it was the schultz itself getting us high. Lol. But I'll hold off on it for a bit.

Shultz didn't have nearly as much to do with how good the bud was as the genetics did..
Sounds like you have a plan!
Good luck on the finish!
