In the Irish Times today an article by the above name. This line seems to be the angle the government and main stream media seem to be taking now! Obviously as the other arguments against Cannabis don't really stand up! In bold Print on the front of the paper "The trouble with Cannabis" it's this type of propaganda that really pisses me off. Go out buy the paper and read! Then post your thoughts :stoned:

In these cases, typical THC levels were between 1 per cent and 4 per cent, while the CBD levels were higher than those recorded in herbal cannabis samples."

The biggest problem in Ireland with weed is the bulking agents which are added to the weed to make it heavier. Up to 25% heavier, that's a lot when you look at it in tonnes.
In Ireland it was reported that 1 person per day is admitted to rehab for adverse affects of using weed. But they dont mention the other drugs that these people are using. Benzodiazepines are an exmple in the article, why don't they mention that these drugs might be causing the problems ? Why point the finger directly at weed when there could be other possibilities ? These articles are placed in the papers as a scare tactic and written by 'journalists' who don't understand what they are writing about. Why don't they mention the poisonous silica which is in the weed now and focus on the bigger issue ? Weed and hash have been in this country for a very long time and they won't be going away any time soon. Sure, the Gardai are showing the general, non-smoking public, what a great job they are doing by hauling in some big smugglers. But this does not dissolve the issue at hand. Drug, all types of drugs, are here to stay. why can't our backward government stand up and realise this and confront it, head on. Not in an iron fist type of way but in accepting that drugs are here and they can't stop it. Drugs need to be decriminalised and controlled by the government. Potency and quality can then be regulated and the drug trade is dissolved overnight. Million, possibly billions could be saved from falling into criminal gangs hands and contained in the economy. Taxes would be placed upon the drugs and drug users would not be viewed as criminals and sent to our overcrowded prisons. They could be treated from the taxes generated from the sale of soft drugs. Hard drugs, ie heroin, cocaine etc would be administered through the health system, as has been successfully done in other EU countries. Users would be treated as a patient and given clean drugs. In an EU country these heroin users go to work and get their fix too. Sound like productive citizens to me, they work, pay taxes and get their medication. Drug users are not criminals, they are patients. But no politician would stand up and call for such radical reform of out judicial and health system, even if it makes sense and would benefit the country in the long run. One the note of weed, it's a harmless drug if used responsibly. True that CBD levels were too low in comparison to THC levels, but I would point the finger at the government for not facing up to that issue and trying to take control. The silicon will damage people beyond repair in the near future, silicosis will be the issue. Drugs will not go away by creating more police, we need to try a radically different approach to drugs, the current approach does nothing but ruin lives. Isn't it obvious to everyone ?
It is obvious to anyone who thinks for themselves, most obvious. On the flip side of this story is one that was printed in our local paper. "While the county is still in a depressed state economically, it does appear that 'The cannabis crop' is helping to keep our local businesses busy. One advocate stated that there is more than a billion (? really) dollars a year generated from our lovely herb a year in this state. (California) You certainly have some power to change the will of the politicians when you start waving around that many dollars.

Typical shit. Misinforming the public thru mass media to cast a dark shadow over Cannabis once again. The problem this time is more and more people are smoking it and know the risks etc themselves, so alot of people are seeing thru the bullshit propaganda that mass media put out and are correcting it. Of course drugs can be dangerous, sure look at alcohol and tobacco. They wouldnt ever attack them, because they have so much tax on the stuff they might lose money. The world needs to wake up and smell the ganja.
Also, those stories just make me LOL. What freaks if they are even real people....
Another article in the Irish Independant today about things that effect sperm counts and sperm related
production issues etc. There was a list of things mobile phones, certain foods, alcohol and then recreational drugs.
Did anyone read it? Try get your hands on it.
Now I don't know much about this only that I have kids (Dont want anymore :) )and I smoke weed so ultimately I don't give a shit! That said the article made out that Cannabis is more harmful to your sperm count then alcohol. Sorry Irish Indo but I smell bullshit. More mainstream propaganda I feel, it really bugs me. I don't know much about this so It could be true. Either way it won't change my overall opinion on Cannabis, it is ultimately safer, better and causes less problems then alcohol :rasta: Cannabis all the way man :stoned:
