So how much butane am I inhailing when I smile my bowl? Cuz I know I can taste it, and I was wondering if there is a lighter out there that puts off less if not any butane? Is it just me? Does anybody else taste it?

I use a torch lite it's quicker at burning the stuff in the bowl. Better than a ordinary lighter. But it wont eliminate the taste completly.
Some people I know use two knives heat them on the stove or torch them until the tip is redhot, pick up a little peace of green and burn it with the knives. they inhale it with a cut in half 2l soda bottle, so the smoke does not go everywhere and anywhere.Also works with hash.
That's interesting... Like a milkshake method. ( if u were wondering,) a milkshake is when you light the hash and blow it out. Letting a red hot cherry start to burn, then you put a glass over it and let it fill with smoke. Every time you inhale the.smoke from the.glass, the red hot cherry gets the air it needs to keep hot and smoking. Eventually the hash will all burn up but its usually a pretty intense hit. I never thaught to try the concept on my bud...
I dont think the milkshake method would work on buds, but you never know. And smoking with the method I showed you is also pretty intense 2 or 3 hits and your done or Chocking from to much smoke at once on the floor.

I forgot the little piece of bud you pick up with the hot knives should be pressed into a ball. Compacting the piece of bud make's it easier to smoke.
Thanks greywolf for that stats. And thnx canadianhemperor for the technique. I got a butane vaporizer too, but I don't taste butane in that. Only when its heating up can you slightly smell it, I don't reccommend the iolite, waste of twohundredeighty dollars.

What I've found to work best for me when packing bowls is to pack it like you would build a campfire, only upside down in your bowl.... Place like a pea size lil nug at the bottom of the bowl (acts like a filter stopping the smaller grinded bud that you pack on top), then grind up the rest of the bud you want to toke and place it on top of the lil pea size nug.... The bud on top acts like kindle and will light the rest of the bowl.... Doing this, you should only have to light the bowl at the beginning and then maybe to finish it off for only a sec or two each time at most.... It should stay lit the whole way through.... If you have powder hash, you could sprinkle a lil over the bowl and would work really well at lighting the rest of the bowl once lit....
Just something that I've been doing lately and I've found that I'm using my lighters less packing my bowls this way....and with the powder hash on top, it really adds a punch....

Nice, sometimes my stuff stays lit, I never really thaught.about my packing.method tho. It makes sense. Does the.cherry burn up excess bud when its still lit and ur not inhaling it? You know when you get that little swirling stream of smoke that rises out of the bowl when you set it down. Iv always wondered about that too, is it wasting my good ganj?
The amount that is burned while not inhaling is minimal compared to the amount that is taken in.... I've found bigger fatter hits burn more of the bowl while not inhaling whereas taking short steady hits keeps the bowl lit and doesn't burn up too much while not inhaling.... Now go try this packing method :jointsmile:....cause I'm about to....enjoy :thumbsup:....

I saw these dudes on youtube smoking with like a wick. They lit it and it stayed lit and they lit their bowls with it. The worst thing you can use is a zippo lighter, I did it when I didn't have a regular butane bic and it tastes like pure zippo shit. You can buy a whole pack of like 20 crack lighters for 1 dollar at like dollar stores.
Ya, they were giving away wicks to smoke with at.the cannabis cup in Detroit. It's pretty cool.
I just had a yellow crack lighter over spark and take off a couple eyelashes and nose hairs...lol

If you use the little torch type lighters they are supposed to use almost all of the butane before the end of the flame, they have harder to see flames and somtimes come with glowwires. You shouldn't be able to taste anything you don't want, right?
Couldn't live without my hemp wick, and glass wands... lighter hits are a thing of the past! :)
hemp wick....no butane.....blowtorch and glass for concentrates.....otherswise its bic and butane...torches are ok but i think they burn the medicine too fast
