Hiya guys,
Just wanting to confirm if my plants are ladies or lads. I believe that they are ladies, but I'd like an expert's opinion on this.

Im not understanding your question. Are you asking when theyll show sex? If so you will be able to tell usually within the first two weeks of flowering 12/12. If you are asking when you should flower, thats all up to you and your setup. If room is not an issue, most wait til the nodes start alternating before they flower. Thats usually what i do. Just remember the plant can double, sometimes triple in size during flowering. Depending on strain and conditions. IMO if you are using 400hps or less i would keep them small so you will have good light penetration. I see alot of people on these sites start flowering around 12in and keep them small. Its pretty much all up to you and what your setup will allow.Quote:

That one I'm using for my clones and my young sativa.Quote:

Also, please note that I did build a grow room now. I have them in my attic and it's really difficult to access it with the nanny in the house. The first pic is part of my attic where I have the plants vegging (I've since added plastic sheets to block out external light, keep the smell confined, they really stink and they haven't even started flowering and turned it into a proper grow area) and I can move them if need be in order to start flowering, if they get really tall. The two bigger ones are indica dominant, so height shouldn't be much of a problem. But maybe I'll have a problem with the smaller one, as it's sativa. I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. I'll take more pics tonight when the nanny's out of the house and post them here.
Thanks for your help!

Just keep in mind that youre not gonna be able to grow trees with a 400. IMO after about 3 ft you lose alot of light penetration. Have you thought about SOG or SCRog? IMO youll get more bang for the buck with that 400. Go out instead of up.
BTW The nanny isnt for you is she?:wtf:
lol, she takes care of me when I'm too stoned. Maybe I should induce flowering then? since they'll double in size while flowering? This is my first grow ever, I want to get it right before I do SOG/SCROG and plus I need more plants for that I believe.Quote:

SCRog or LST you can do with a single plant. Keeps them short with an even canopy if youre good. If i were you id go to walmart and get 4 pieces of science fair/ project board from walmart. They are cheap and flat white. Youd be amazed at how much brighter that 400 would be with white background. My whole object with growing is trying to utilize every bit of light i can. Get your money out of that light. Its just what id do for a temporary set up.
Oh yea good job. The two look real healthy:thumbsup:
Thanks man! I had problems earlier with the tips of the leaves turning yellow, but I managed to bring that under control. I only wish that I knew what strain they were (the indica's). Supposedly the smaller one is AK47.Quote:

I have a huge grow space (in the pic I am only using not even 10% of the space that I have. the reason for this is that this is my first grow and I want to learn how to do it well, and then expand) so those boards really sound interesting, as buying mylar/foil would be pretty expensive.
All it is basically cardboard with a with a white side. It was just an example for a cheap quickie. Dont know if id do a whole room with it. haha. I would personally go white anything before foil. Have you thought about paint? Im using mylar but if i wouldve done a little research i wouldve went with white paint. I didnt know at the time mylar would jump the temps up around 10 degrees.
Thing is that I have brick and painting will entail a huge amount of work on my part. The walls of the attic are quite dirty and I can only work on it for a few hours at a time (I need a ladder to get to the attic and people will start to get suspicious as to why I'm constantly going up there. That's why I was thinking of foil or the cardboard, or even putting a plastic covering and then foil over it. Tomorrow I'm finishing the flowering room and then buying a timer and I'm starting the 12/12 regimen. From what you said and what I've read, the plants will grow quite a bit during flowering, so it's best that I get it started. I doubt that the indicas will get to 6 feet but maybe the sativa will. I've already gotten clones from both big plants and so far they haven't wilted (this was done on Monday).Quote:

Cheers!
PS I don't have a problem with heat cause the attic is a bit drafty and I don't live in a climate like NY city or Toronto, the coldest it gets here is like 45°F and the hottest is 95 (I'll vent in that case, but it's several months until summer comes around)
P.S.S already at 16 inches and they're responsible for filling my entire attic (almost 80 square meters) with their sweet, strong smell. Imagine when I have 10+, lol. Is that normal? I mean, I know that cannabis smells, but that strong in veg state?

Strong smell early in veg is a very good sign,
You said sweet.
Is there any musk to it?
Dunno if you folks have skunks down there, but if your gals start smelling "skunky", do a happy dance.
Aloha,

Pardon this question, but I think that it's a question of language barrier, what do you mean by musk? I thought that my english was good :(Quote:

Kind of like, "light-struck" Corona beer.

I understand now, thanks! I just put my 2 ladies into flowering (they've reached 18 inches and from what I understand from reading up on everything and being told by you fine people that the plants grow between 200% and 300% when flowering), although I do have a lot of space, I only have about 7-8 feet in height total (for both lamp height and plant height).Quote:

I don't know if it has a skunk smell or not yet, I'd have to wait for the flowers to appear I guess because the "sweetness" is "overpowering." It's going to get a lot "worse" because the 3 clones that I made have survived and hopefully will grow into big fine, sexy ladies.
As for the clones, I cut them on Monday and so far so good :), but I wanted to know if they are rooting properly. Is there any way to tell? I mean, is it possible for me to check to see if there are roots forming? This is my setup:

I have both the clones and the small lady under 24/0 light (105 w fluorescent light). Is that okay?
Thanks for all your help!

But for rooting, I'd advise a few hours of rest.
Roots grow at night too.
Saw your "sexing" thread.
Here's a trick for sexing early;
That's a fine camera, and you know how to use it.
So, grab a a penlight and a good 10X lens or a camera on macro.
Hold the penlight behind the node and take a good macro picture from in front.
The pre-bud can be seen inside the node before it surfaces.
If it has a stem, it's probably a male.
No tiny stem?
Happy dance, ladies in da house!

Weeze
