Dublin Indoor first timer ,
hello to all Irish growers , and the rest!!.
after getting mugged while scoring on a fucking corner in a dump part of this fine city
iv decided to start my own grow ,
purchased some Greenhouse seed Co. super lemon skunk , 5 fem seeds , 45 yoyos :( .
told there was a very good chance of success , so with love and alot of hope .
made up a 4 x 3 x 6 fram fully covered and blacked out , i found an old fish tank parts that i had , 18w florescent tube white light and a 25w cfl lamp ,i have a tower fan ,
is and underwater thermometer , heater , or a pump be any use in this grow ?
soil medium is general compost with perlite . and i have every thing to start germination , a herbal grow kit , i intend to plant 3 of the 5 seeds ?
then , out of the blue an old friend knocked on my door with a 3 week old plant , he said it was dying and offered it to me , thats that Karma shit working again!
so , i have a very poor looking 3/4 week old plant that i think was over feed , iv been starving it for a few days and iv just gave it a good watering , its looking better , i think ? i will post pics if anyone is interested .
this site and the plp who post have already helped me to focus on the reality of a first time grow and not some fucking brain fart over a game of cards with the mt8s .
i intend to make this work , and to connect with in Dublin any good plp who wish to make a proper effort in the spreading of love to the masses .

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
hey Kush nice to meet a fellow Dubgrower.
yesterday i started my unknown 3/4 week old plant on 18 hour light cycle , its looking alot better then a few days ago . i am
misting every hour or so .
gonna get some heavy duty white sided plastic and a large tray to my grow room in . i think i need a larger flo tube ? at least 2ft , not so worried about the temp. the room is a constant 22/23 degrees according to my fish tank thermometer .
tonight i will germinate 3 seeds and will try to log with pics the progress of these 4 plants .
what setup have u got kush ? and how u gonna germinate your seeds ? the bird in the shop said to put them in the fridge before i germinate , not sure about that ?
peace

so i was looking for mylar and came across an emergency sheet , foil based for 2 euros in "homestore and more " the best thing iv seen , got 4 75w 800lumen with room for 2 more
6 lights total low spectrum low voltage , its cheeo and it better work , imma not spending any more yoyos ,

Great start ..
If using a good compost there is feed added , go easy on seedlings regarding feed , less is more i found when learning .
A little Nitrogen boost maybe in the form of liquid seaweed , tomato feed for flower .
I've used flourescents in veg , messed about with allsorts . They do the job .
Ideally in an ideal world lol HID is best i find , tent kit's on ebay are around 300 sterling .
400 W with filter and inline fan .
The filter is a must for growing indoors undetected .

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
TY brer , any advice is greatly accepted . im not to rushed on my seeds , iv held off from germinating untill i feel i know what im doing , so maybe i will start them the weekend , right now i have wired up my new light system , 4 x 14w total 3200 lumen . added to 2 x 18w 2ft flor tubes , will this work ?
im not to worried about filters , i will set up an extractor fan when the time comes , at the back of my tent there is an exhaust duck , my biggest question right now is the medium , what compost and fertilizer to use and when ? .

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
Erm i've only ever used low watt flours cloning or on seedlings , so for this yes .
You can also finish on flours but i've never done it .
First light i bought was a 20 w aquarium flourescent i quickly upgraded upto 75 w hps then 400 now 600 .
You'r looking for seedling soil easy got at the garden centre , use a small pot for seedling's roughly one litre .
After root's appear at holes in bittom of pot , roughly two week's pot up .
Next potting use stronger soil . I like westland's with added JI that i can get easly locally .
There's feed in compost , enough to last a month or two but after a couple of week's veg in bigger pot's you can add liquid seaweed extract = great and hard to overuse .
Whot technique do ya intend using to germ .
Sorry i'm only new here and not had time to investigate the site fully .
I like whot i see so far tho .

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
yeh the site is abit difficult to get around , but its worth looking about , there is great info and many Irish about . this site has helped me the most .
i put the seeds in a glass of water as (per the green house seed web site) , got home from work and put them between wet paper towels , in a dark press , i will keep an eye on them for the first sign of life then put then in seeding soil ,
im gonna just give it a go with what i have , lol im already planning my next grow useing
HPS lamps , we will see ? i am worried about the space size , i hope its big enough ?

Dublin Indoor first timer ,

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
it looks like a magnesium deficiency , trust me theres a lot to learn , im near finish in my first grow and i discovered wardrobes are not the best for growing . ill make a thread soon explaining my mistakes , i made a lot lol.
buy the growers bible by jorge cervantes , it is vital.
if i was you i would flush the pots incase theres salt build up, i read that you should flush every 4weeks , pity i was 2and a half months in when i read it !
the books says "treat deficiency by watering with two teaspoons of epson salts per gallon of water"

Dublin Indoor first timer ,

i also tested the runt before its first flush 6.8 , the run off was 6.5 . its looking abit better but its real slow , not sure what my next step is regarding feed . back to troling the forums .

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
seedlings day 4 under 18w flor tube .
PH 6.9
temp 23c
im thinking about potting straight to 15ltr and not use the 5 or 10ltr biopots . i have some seeding compost the guy said it was balanced and it would feed the girls for a month .
having a issue about getting vermiculite and pirlite in Dublin and u guys know where ?
-
Dublin Indoor first timer ,
Don't use vermiculite, it's a waste of money. Just get some good potting soil at a grow shop and some powder fert that comes in a box with alot of bacteria to it. Read the contents and make sure you get a fert that has bacillus and mychorrizae fungi in it. Use one level cup for every 4 liters of soil. Transplant into the bigger pots, don't use the smaller ones because you'll have to transplant later and that shouldn't be necessary.

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
i have got 10ltr pots , but i read in one of the treads here ,a guy commented about the pot being to big for the plant ? , my girls are in very small pots and i have these 5 ltr bio pots mad from cardboard or some shit . also i picked up a cheep summer fruits fertiliser not sure if i should use it , 8-8-8 , also i got a 58wtt 5ft flori tube with refuser , can i add this to my setup ? as a wall strip.
one of the girls is stunted , i think the fan might have loosened her from the soil , so i added some more , its looks ok know .

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
disaster !!!!
came home to find my 3 girls had fallen over . they look like there dead
i left them on the sill this morning , very small amount of airflow from the top open window , so it could have not been the wind .they where in the sun light all day and it was hot , did the sun kill them ?
did i kill them:( , i was worried about how little soil there was , and i only lightly watered them every 8 hours or so , they looked fine before i went to work ,
pls someone help me help my girls ,
-
Dublin Indoor first timer ,
still have not lost hope , no1 is dead :( no2 has new growth:) no3 the one i though was dead , has new growth , but it is really small , i have a runt .
-
Dublin Indoor first timer ,
Yeah, it was the sun. Indoor flouro lighting for such small plants. Water the soil all the way through when you water, then let it dry some before you do it again. Only use that triple 8 fert if it has bacteria and fungi in it. It won't work too well without those living organisms present in typical potting soil. You might be better off to get a chemical kind of fert, a liquid, soil in garden or hardware stores (or whatever you call them in your country).

Dublin Indoor first timer ,
