Second Attempt at outdoor grow ever.

Ok, so after a few years of researching and watching buddies experiancesI've decided to give it another go this year. My last grow was 2 years ago and it was compromised by family members lol. This year I have 6 plants that I started around the end of April. I just topped them today for the first time(which i dunno if i did too early) but they look very healthy. I will post pics when I get access to a camera. They are just starting to grow their 7 leaf leaves and on 2 of them I accidently clipped a 3-leaf fan leave off when topping(damn toenail clippers). Will that stunt them? I'm using a combination of topsoil, MG moisture control with a little bonemeal added. Eventually I plan on taking them out of their 3 gallon planters and putting them in the ground. Any suggestions when to do so? I have also bought 4 bags of the soil from dollar general to mix in with the ground when i plant them. Its their better soil with fert and water crystals added to them. I know FF is what most use but I'm on a bit of a budget. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated(will post pics asap)

Clipping the fan leaf will definitely stunt the growth just like topping does but it'll survive.

When you do the FINAL transplant into the ground is based on a few factors like how long can they go in the 3 gallon without getting root bound. I'm doing my final transplant in July after I've sexed and before they start flowering.

The larger the hole the bigger the plant, a few bags of soil from dollar tree probably won't be enough. I mean dig out a hole big enough that you can jump into without being able to just step out of and you will have very, very nice sized plants.

thanks for the quisck feedback. i kinda wanted to wait til they sexed to put them in the ground but i suppose i have more otw so I can put some in soon. Whats the best way to tell if they're root bound? i know its not yet but i'm just curious. i'll buy more progressivly, they're like 4 bucks a peice, how many do you suggest for 3-4 nice girls atleast

To check if they are root bound you slide the plant out of the cup or pot and check the roots. If they look like they've been circling around at the bottom for a while then they need to be transplanted.

You usually wait until they are all the way dry to check because it'll slide it much easier. To get them out of the pot you just turn it upside down with your hand on top where the plants stalk is at. It should just slide out into your hand. If its hard to get out push on the sides of the pot to loosen it up.

still no photos yet sorry guys camera is kinda broken atm. some kind of animal dug my 2 biggest plants up but didn't eat them. it just dug the roots up and left the plant to die. i got 8 new seedlings just getting their second node of leaves. And 4 left from the original crop. I've just topped all but one of them, and they reacted nicley. I just don't know what to do about the animals. I've had deer footprints right next to my pots but no damage. Whatever did this didn't eat the plant. Any advice would be nice.

ah man the best advice i can give you would be to get some chicken wire and put it around each of your plants so the critters cant get to it.

you can also try to pee around the area to kinda keep deer away from the area just dont do it next to your plants.

Cougar piss! Find some cougar piss and hang it in socks around your plants, the deer won't come near them! Dont' ask where but I've read it works well.

well i dont think they sell cougar piss in ohio. but im trying a budget idea right now with 4 sticks and some fishing line haha. i heard if deer hit it they freak out and never come back. just put 6 more babies out with my 4 bigger ones so hopefully this year turns out nice.

Better hope the cougar that lives close doesnt get a smell ! Sounds like a bad idea to me .

these little basterds are infesting my plants. I don't have a camera yet I'm sorry for the no pictures yet but I just transplanted 1 of my plants and there was a colony of ants in my root ball. I knocked half the ball off and replanted but i doubt their gone. I lifted another pot and seen another ant colony starting. Any safe or easy ways to get rid of them without hurting my plants? They are still growing but I heard they feed on the roots so i don't want the damage.

Careful where you place that fishing line, it's visible from a long distance on sunny days.

Computer crashed the day I took pictures and now the pictures are a month old and not even worth using. I'm going to take more tomorrow. I now have 2 females, and 6-7 unknowns. One of my females has a phosphorus deficiency. I bought some superthrive and triple super phosphate I just don't know how to use the phosphate. Its 0-45-0 but it's little pellets and it doesn't give a dosage for potted plants so I don't know how much to add. Has anybody used this stuff before?(some are in 4 g buckets and some are in 5)

Get a bag of insecticide pellets and spread them around the ground and around the permiter of your garden. If you're using the same nutrients for all your plants your problem may be something other then phosphate deficiency.

ok i'll try that but it got cold about a month ago, down to about 45F and i think it locked out the phosphorus. i will post a picture tomorrow but if it's not that then i don't have any idea. it's only on one plant but it's a female so i wanna get it taken care of if possible.

Try foliar feeding it with that solution, you should notice a difference much faster then soild feeding IF that is the problem and yes you don't want to lose a female and you want to solve it before you go into flowering. I had a "problem" with just one plant 4-5 weeks into flowering and never was able to really solve it, foliar feeding was out because of the flowers and I tried to juice it with some nutrients but nothing worked, it didn't die but didn't look too well either.

#1 This one just showed pistols so I'm going to be putting her in the ground seeing as she is already in plain topsoil. She is also infested with ants but it's not harming her.

#2 Another female. She just showed pistols about a week ago. This is probobly my healthiest plant. She is thriving, I just hope the fuckin coon stays away from my soil and roots. This one is also infested with ants haha. It just blew up though and it's starting to really branch out.

#3 Now for the sad news. My original female that had the phosphorus deficiency, was uprooted by an animal which I can only assume to be a racoon. I havn't had a problem for a while since i put Critter Ridder down in my area but I put "Terro Liquid Ant Baits" out by my plants to try and get rid of the ants and came back to 3 of my plants being dug up and all the ant traps eaten and licked dry. I was hoping it killed the fucker but it didnt obviously he's back. Not sure how long she was out of the ground but I'm assuming less than 24 hours. There was a small root ball left and I replanted and watered in. Any suggestions or hopes of her making it? I'm thinking about using fly bait to poison this basterd so my crop isnt ruined. He dug into the soil of a few of my other plants aswell.

#4 This is another one that is taking off. She is also a female which I just found out today. I'm getting very lucky with my sexing right now seeing as I havn't found a male yet and so far about 5 females. Getting really excited. The second picture is an above shot of her, she is my second biggest.

#5(left) & 6(right) These are my 2 fresh transplants. One of them is female but I forget which one it is. Jus found out today aswell. They are doing nicely though. #5 has some really narrow leaves I'm hoping for some indica strain. Second picture is just an above view of the two.

That's all for the update, hopefully you guys will take me seriously now that I posted pictures. This is only the beginning and i could use all the feedback I can get. Also if you have any suggestions for incest repellent on my plants i could use it, seven dust is failing me.:rastasmoke:

the stunted one is perking back up and looking like it's going to make it. anyone have any experience using super triple phosphate?
