unknown strain indoor grow week 4
Unexperienced grower! Here I have 2 plants which a friend gave to me a week ago, he said he had germinated the seeds 3 weeks ago. I've baught 2 45watt cfls (1 red 1 blue spectrum) and a 80watt gro-lux all on 18/6. As far as I know they aren't autoflowers because at week 4 there is no signs of flowering. Inside my cupboard I have lined the walls with white reflective pvc and have a small clip on fan. The teperature is currently around 74. I've been using tomatoe feed for the last week and they have. Grown well and look healthier than when I got them. Ill kee posting pictures and hopefully receive some good advice

Here's a picture taken yesterday. Can anyone tell me roughly how long before changing to flower

You can flower at anytime it's just a matter of how big you want them to get. I see a LOT of people on here flowering 2ft tall plants and I don't really understand why, a 2 ft tall plant under good conditions can grow easily another foot or more in less then a month.
Why do you have them both in the same container?
unknown strain indoor grow week 4
Ok so what would you say is the ideal height to start flowering if my cupboard is roughly 4-5 ft. And I was given them both in the same container and wasn't sure if it was too risky to transplant would you reccomend a transplant now?

You should go ahead and tranplant right now. Dig around both plants and dig deep enough to get under the roots and get the plant out without disturbing either root systems. They are on their 5th nodes it looks like so both root systems are probably fairly developed. I wouldnt wait any longer to transplant as it'll only become more difficult.

Thanks ill get it done asap. Is it better to use the largest pot possible? And would it be ok to put both plants back into 1 pot aslong as the pot is quite a lot bigger than the pot they're currently in. Im limited to the size of pot I can use as the cupboard I've got set up isn't very big. Would 40-50 litres do it?

does anyone know if 45watt cfls can cause fan leaves to curl or burn? or could this be a deficiency? some of the fan leaves near the top have been curling at the ends so i lowered them 6" and they seem ok now. ill post a few pictures of the leaves in a couple of hours to see what you think.

If your using cfls you should flower them soon as if you grow them really big the light cant penetrate that far down the plant so would just be a waste of time. 40-50 litre pot sounds huge! one with a ten inch diameter will be fine id say even though i use tiny ones. If yur using cfls make sure they are as close as possible without burning them- as i said before the light doesnt penetrate very far so that inch closer will make a difference. Are you using the correct spectrum cfls ? red ? and make sure you separate the two plants soon as - should never grow them in the same pots. C

im using 1 red spectrum and 1 blue sectrum, im planing on seperating the plants later on today or early tomorrow. i have another pot the same size as the one theyre currently in which is roughly 10" ill put 1 of the plants in there. i wasnt planning on growing them too big because of limited space in my cupboard i was thinking another 2 weeks of vegetating then switching to 12/12 does this sound about right? thanks for the help charbud

Also is it good to spray plants reguarly with water, they seem to love itm

Foliar feeding with a dilute nutrient solution will speed the delivery of nutrients in particular if you are having a deficiency, I wouldn't do it more then once a month.
I'm curious what the hurry is to bud them? They are so small you'll get a few buds which will be smoked in a week. I would keep the lower vegetation trimmed to the stalk and try to develop just a really nice cola bud if you don't want to grow them out. In that container I can't imagine it will grow much more then 3-4 ft, you can bend them 6-12" from the top if they start getting too tall.
My experience with clones is they grow MUCH slower the first 60 days then fresh seeds.

There's no hurry to flower I just took what charbud waas saying into consideration about the light not being able to penetrate right down the plants. Also I have limited space for them to grow upwards. Ill read into the foilar feeding I'm not sure what you mean by it, I have no nutrients only â??plantroidsâ?? I'm not sure if that would work. And should I start trimming the bottom vegetation now or once I've changed the cycle? I read that you shouldn't trim fioliage from plants as all growth is focused on repearing the leaves which have been trimmed off.

I think there are a million theories on trimming plants, I've seen plants with all the vegetation 2ft or more from the bottom removed and they develop a series of branches that turn into full buds.
My theory(or at least I'm going to try this) is that during my last two harvests I've noticed the bottom most and inner most branching had the least amount of bud material and what was there was loose, smoked ok but my thoughts are if the plant doesnt' have to waste energy on lower level branches/buds then it can put more effort into the top branches. The seedlings I have now that are over two feet tall I've already removed evrything from the soil to a foot up the stalk and haven't noticed any detriment to the plant and in fact they are growing faster then I probably have room for right now.

Ok great ill give it a try on one of the plants and see how it goes and if it goes well I can trim the other one. Also does it help spaying the plant with water every so ofte, I've been doing this for the last few days and they seem to love it

Spraying with water once a week is good to keep any dust build up off of the sun leaves, put a few drops of nutrients in the water and it will help speed their growth when they are young but don't over do it or you'll burn the leaves. I wouldn't do it more then once a week though.

Ive taken some new photos of the plants, i topped 1 of the plants but left the other and ive trimmed the fan leaves from the bottom which werent getting much light they are still in the same pot because when i went to transplant the roots looked too developed to seperate the two, will they be ok in the same pot if i veg for another week and then put them into flower? ive been reading an article on another forum on the early signs of sex on plants and have seen some signs on both of the plants indicating they are both female (hints of red going up the main stalk and across the top of the fan leave stems. also can anyone tell me the best odour controll products i can use in the cupboard without needing a extractor fan coming out from the door.
