yeah, i wont do home remedies anymore. for that very reason, and i had it worse than you. sm90 will slow them down as well as increase nute uptake. cost appr.$10-20. other than that with gnats its humidity and soil moisture that keeps them going. they start as larvae in the soil. they like moist soil. then they emerge as the gnats you see "buzzin in your face and stuff". had em for 6 years and then poof, gone. damage can occur from larvae eating roots...let soil dry appropriately and water as needed. you should be alright. dont cut right now. a lot of times it will work itself out or cloning may cure you.

but mine seems to be gone after just two days. I don't remember where i read it but some one mentioned Bounce dryer sheets around the base of the plant. I figured what the hell. my wife buys them in boxes of 100. Believe it or not, it's working. Didn't see not one gnat in my flower room this evening, and i looked through all six plants (White Widdow-1 soil, 1 hydro) (White Rino-1 soil, 2 hydro) (bag seed-1 soil). My veg area didn't have any when i looked earlier today. It really didn't dawn on me since they are pretty much outside. My mother plants (WW, WR, bag seed) are all inside in a closet grow (soil). Had the damn things in there. I didn't pay any attention to them either until i noticed my flwr room was gnat free. Went to take a look in the closet, ruffed up the soil and didn't see a thing. I don't know how or what it does but it worked.

"I don't remember where i read it but some one mentioned Bounce dryer sheets around the base of the plant."
That would be me.:)
Actually, I'm using Kirkland brand now.
They are just as effective but the scent is less overpowering.
Cheap too!
Just bought 500 sheets for about $8.
Have not seen a single gnat, outside!
Good stuff!

The only thing that has ever worked for me is diatomaceous earth. Works great. Just make sure it is food grade. Most garden centers carry it. Cheap too.

I'll be the third to confirm that dryer sheets work....
I started researching "how to get rid of bugs" and found a lot of different sites with different info. I read about the dryer sheets, and since I had some, decided to try it. Haven't seen a bug since......
It's something to do with the fragrance that makes bugs do a 180. Also read that you could keep bugs like mosquitoes away by simply putting a dryer sheet or two in your shirt or pants pocket. I know I'm going to try this the next time I go camping....

that dryer sheet trick is something i will definitely remember next time i go camping too since i always come home with at least 25 mosquito bites. and if it works, i will be one of the happiest campers on earth. i almost donmt camp becuz of mosquitoes. I'm allergic, so i itch for weeks and get swollen half-dollar size bumps and if dryer sheets takes care of it they will be tucked all over my backyard at home too.

Hey guys,
I know Im a bit late replying on your gnat problem but I think I found a fairly harmless treatment.
I have regular plants just inside my balcony and I found lots of them. They spread to just about all of the plants.
I really noticed the problem when I decided to re-pot some of them.
What I did was, I went to the shop and bought camolime tea, put a teabag in a pot and poured 2 litres (4 pints) of boiling water on it.
I let it sit for the night to let the teabag do its thing. It also removed the chlorine in the water.
Just give the plants a good soaking and see how they get on. My plants are gnat free already with only one flush and are doing fine.
I read somewhere about this before Im sure. I think the camomile doesnt kill the gnats directly. It just makes their food inaccessible to them thus starving them.
Give it a try if you want sometime. It worked for me.
I havent had to use it in the G room yet but Im sure it would work and there will be no nasty chemicals being used.
Let me know if anyone tries it.
Take care boys and girls

Thanks, s.l. but we got no bugs left to try it on.
The dryer sheets worked! :)
And I consider them harmless, chemically.
There are folks who actually eat dryer sheets with no apparent ill effects.
Can't wait for some entrepreneur to re-brand them as "Bug-away sheets" and charge us a buck each. :D

food grade instead of commercial grade? i used commercial grade on one and damn near killed it. never did yield though.
