So im having a problem cloning ive tried a few times now and its just not working out that great. So here my setup

with the same rubbermaid contairer ontop to make a dome. I put a air stone in the bottom with 4 holes with hydro cups. This is the first time im doing it with this setup.

please give me advice i hate taken cuttings from my plant and it not working
1. are you using cloning gel?
2. Build an aero unit to clone. I will take a photo of mine tonight and load it up for you to see how it is built. buy a small pump (160 gph) and use it to gently spray the cups. It works much better. You can build a set up for under 20 dollars and the pumps you can find on ebay for around 25 or so. It is nothing more than common PVC and 360 degree aero jets attached to the pump and if the pump uts out too much you can attach a fan speed regulator to dial down the pressure. Cloning is more difficult with some strains than others but until a mother gets woody you should easily be in the 80-90% success range. I havn't had a clone die on me since Clinton was in office.
I went to my local hydrophic and i saw what your talking about. I want to try my newest set up ive done. my mother will grow back its real heathly. Im growing kusk and i do have root gel.
will an air stone not be strong enought from the air bubles.?./>????

That would depend on the size and type of stone against the size and shape of the container. I was just lettin you know what I have used successfully for quite some time.Quote:

I don't give any feeding at all to clones, just a little Rhizotonic for root growth stimulation. Superthrive is strong stuff, too strong and unnecessary I'm sure for unrooted clones.
You don't mention what light your using for them and that is key also. I only use a 18W TL (6500K) hung several inches above a opaque dome lid. Clones don't need a huge amount of light.
There's a massive amount of info here on this forum about cloning. Get reading mate :) Growing your own plants can be such fun and not so difficult once you get the important elements together - low light, moisture (in the air as humidity and growing medium) and warmth.
Not to mention patience and not over-loving lol.
here's how i clone and usually get 90-100% success>>>
articles needed>>> klonex, peat pellets, a large mixing bowl, DISTILLED water, a nail and a very sharp knife or razor blade.
take cuttings to the cloning table and cut them down to no more than 6" total leaving as many small branches on the stem as possible...i try to keep the stems under water while trimming them to size so air bubbles don't get into the stem. these are root sites so the more side stems the better. cut the small side stems off at the main stem then immediately dip in "klonex"...i like to leave the stem sitting in the jar for half a minute or so. then take the stem and immediately move it into a prepared peat pellet (i prepare them by thoroughly soaking in water then taking a nail and 'clean out' the hole so the stem slides in easily without bending) then gently place into pellet far enough so the bottom of the stem is close to the bottom of the pellet but not all the way through. once all clones are processed and in place i keep them in a tray with a small amount of water kept warm in a closet under flouro's. after 2-3 weeks you should have a well rooted clone that's ready to be moved into the veg room. the mother plant is always healthy before taking clones and i never add extra nutes once the clones are in the peat pellets as the mother plant will have already given all they need for a healthy start. once they're rooted and settled into their new individual pots they get a small dose of ferts and a liberal dose of "super thrive"...which i also give a healthy dose of to the mother plant appx two weeks before expected clone date.

and i highly recommend using only distilled water for the clones...especially if you have tap water way out of whack, ph-wise. my tap water is over 9 and off-the-scale so it's mandatory in my case and using distilled water makes all the difference in the world in my experiences...
A wise breeder once wrote an arcticle on K.I.S.S. his cloning method is what I use to this day and everytime, personally I have tried bubble cloners, peat pellets, EZ cloner and have always come back to this method for reliablity, forgiveness and ease....I have rooted in different mixes using this method such as 100% perlite, 100% vermiculite, Miracle grow potting soil (green Bag), scotts potting soil (cheap stuff), Happy Frog, Ocean forest and have had better succes with some then others (never less then 75% survival rate). These days its even simpler..
Needed Material: humidity dome of some type, 2 liter bottles work great for individual clones or a large clear rubbermaid bottom will work great with two or three .5 inch holes for air ( these can be taped closed if 100% percent humidity is needed. !6 oz. Beer cups ( my favorite are clear green ones they sell around holidays ), scissors/razor, PH meter, water (R/O with Cal MAg supp. or oxygenated declorinated tap water) I adjust my water to around 6.3, pro mix bx, little light is needed, some for life bbut minimal. We are trying to allow the cutting to focus on generatng roots as opposed to photosynthesis for growth topside, for this I also trim my clones leaves by half with a sharp scissors. Clonex rooted gel
Once I have taken my cuttings and placed them in water I then fill my cups with medium and saturate to make sure all of medium is soaked through with you stable PH adjusted water...this is the last you will need water for awhile... I then poke a whole into the medium, dip my trimmed clone in rooting gel place it in the hole and gently tamp down, repeat, repeat..etc...now once you have all your clone ready put the under a humidity dome around 85% or uncover about 2 of your 3 holes for 5 days....at this point it gets tricky, after 5 days (alot has to do with ambient enviroment, for 50% humidty in veg home you should have no issues.) remove the humidy dome ... ( NO DIRECT AIR CURRENT at this point on the babys) once removed wait 8 to 12 hours. When you check again some should be standing up happy ( hopefully all, probably half) place the happy ones into their home enviroment providing it never is below 65 and not in direct light yet. The limp sad looking ones left, justrinse out dome top, shake out excess water and replace on clones, they should perk up in a few hours. The process should be attempted repeatedly as needed until all clones look happy and healthy. At NO point through entire process have I watered again. Clones in at least 8 ounces of pro mix will not need watered until they show roots or tops begin to grow again..clones need moisture/humidity, warm temps and for the few days of enviromental adjustment careful eye and a humidity dome....although when my veg tent is warm all the time (i run light 24 hrs) and humidity is high I ussually only use dome if I see plants indistress not form the beginning...I hope this help a little...sorry it was so long
Cloning should be as easy as eating your favourite pie! I do it every time with 100% succession...but thats with soil.
However, you need to start off greatly, taking the best cuttings you can. This is VITAL. There are countless amounts of sites with information on this.
I used to use additives to encourage root growth before planting the cuttings but, in my opinion/experience, this is pointless. I now only use rooting hormones to "water in" the cuttings once they're placed carefully in rockwool (or any other media; I often use peat pots with very soft compost).
Once the cuttings are planted, I place them in an acrylic fish tank with cling film over the top...no lid. This makes a humid tight lid which can easily be removed and will always 'stick' back on.
Aim for around 80-90% humidity and 25oC temp. if you can (propagators are hard to control due to their size, etc.); any more than this and you're risking the cuttings establishing weakly and, therefore, growing weakly...they will probably give up on life when they're removed from your propagator.
This method usually takes ~1 week (2 week max.) for roots to start growing through my peat pots. As soon as this happens, I pot them and stick them into veg for a week then straight into flower.
I hope I may have contributed to your success! And remembers, the most important part of this method is right at the beginning....taking the cuttings!

i made a bubble cloner. air stone, rubber maid box, clear lid that simply sits on top. when i first made it i was just curious if it even would work. so when i trimmed up my plant i thru em in it. i didnt cut it off properly or at an angle. just snipped it off. put it in the bubble cloner to where the stem was in the water about 1/4 inch. i had roots in 7 days. ive cloned from it maybe 6-7 times now, not even changing the water, without a death. maybe its luck, maybe a tough strain...probly both. no need for a water pump, in my humble opinion.
