Hopefully it wont go anywhere and people will remember the pig effer behind all this crap. Lets say they do repeal. what happens to the names of all the homegrowers and patients? LEO has already tried to get DOH to give them up.

This is really disappointing. Anybody feel like organizing against this? What can we do to keep this from happening?

Re: NM House Bill 593
So the committee referrals are 1) House Consumer and Public Affairs and 2) House Judiciary Committee.
The first committee could hear it as early as next week, possibly on Thursday. If you go to the NM Legislative website (http://www.facebook.com/l/b58d9gmpow...ww.nmlegis.gov) on the right hand side there is a link for "Today's Agendas" - then click on "House Committee Schedule" - you need to check this everyday to monitor "House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee for them to schedule the bill.
In the meantime, encourage people to contact the committee and ask members TO VOTE NO and NOT to repeal the medical marijuana law in New Mexico. Emphasize that this is a bill that is helping patients and is often the only source of relief. Be brief. Be quick. The message is VOTE NO, this program is vital to NM.
The Committee members can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/l/b58d90F93-...tteeCode=HCPAC
Chairman Gail Chasey supported the original bill. Rep Maestas is a definite yes, he sponsored the bill on the House floor. Rep. O'Neill was NOT in office when the legislation passed...I don't know where he stands. He's been supportive of our other DPA bills. You should focus your effort on him. Be encouraging, let him know this is a SAFE decision for him. Don't use threatening words, or come off as adversarial. Let him know that we support him and encourage him to join us in doing the right thing. He is a rep in Bernalillio, so any of his constituents that you can find to call him the better.
Rep. Kintigh is an absolute no - he hated all of DPA bills and used to work for the DEA. Rep. Anderson voted hasn't the original bill so I'm assuming he is also a no.
We must stop this bill in this committee.
I hope this helps.
Best,
Jules

The time to plan action is before action is needed. The time to take action is when a threat is present. Our Board President is a State Legislator, â??Retiredâ?? who warned me of this type of threat a year ago, and as recently as the first week of the 2011 Legislative Session. He instructed us on how to prepare for the inevitable. And he stressed how important it would be to kill bills in committee. At his advice we developed a phone bank targeting key legislators. We sent out our first phone contact February 1st. If you are a member of +++++++ it is likely you have been sent an email with a call list. If anyone would like to be on our dial tree give us a call at 575-485-2343, say dial tree and and leave your name, city of residence, and phone number Mr. ++++++ said the best way to proceed when the time comes is to get two constituent patients to meet one-on-one with the committee member of their district and give their side. Make a compelling but unthreading appeal alone with a written statement. Then just start a call campaign prior to a committee vote. He urged us to attend the Session each day but we have been unable to do so, and he has not been able to travel. Thank you John for keeping us informed.

Budding Hope will stand and fight for our program alongside the patients. We will support patients all the way to Santa Fe. It is time to organize! Budding Hope will be seeking contact with as many producers as possible to organize the greatest amount of patients and those sympathetic to Medical Cannabis. If there are any producers reading this, please find our contact information to get ahold of us.
I am unsure of the contact policy of cannabis.com.
I do not want to get booted for posting contact information, but contact is necessary to fight the repeal of our Compassionate Use Act!
We would also like for patients, as well as patient organizations, to contact us and stay connected in the event that we must mobilize and converge on Santa Fe. Budding Hope is 100% committed to NMMCP, the patients, the producers, and the future of medical cannabis in New Mexico.

Yeah come on you guys and organize. You guys have come to far now to allow bigots to knock you back decades.

I just got off the phone with Rep. Bill O'neill. He assured me he would vote NO on the bill to repeal medical cannabis. He asked me to contact other medical cannabis users in the state and ask them to confine their efforts to those they know won't vote NO; Rep Anderson and Rep Kintigh. He was extremely nice and was the only representative to answer my call. He supports us and would appreciate it if we would focus our efforts on those we know will oppose medical cannabis. Rep Bill O'Neill is our friend. He will vote NO on HB 539.

We will need the support of patients, veterans, teachers, and medical experts to flatten the soapbox Rep. James Smith stands upon.
Budding Hope was founded by a Teacher and a Veteran!
We need to find teachers and veterans to speak out and debunk James Smith and his weak position.
Rep. James Smith ran unopposed in the general election. He has been in the legislature for less than 2 months. James Smith is "not a medical doctor". James Smith is not a Veteran.
The Medical Cannabis community will not support Rep. James Smith for re-election. We will actively campaign AGAINST James Smith.
Any bill against the medical cannabis community is a personal attack to every card carrying member. Every pro-medical voter in DISTRICT 22 should call James Smith and set him straight. It is obvious his personal agenda fuels HB593.

This will come up for vote in committee this Saturday March 12th.
I will post the time when I get it.

So let's say this horrible bill makes it thru the committee, then goes to the house. Doesn't it then have to pass the House, then go to the Senate, before making it to Suzana's desk? Anyone know exactly how this process works???:(
