Khalifa Kush Outdoor grow starting early
Decided that I would start the outdoor season a little early this year based on the weather patterns and what not of sacramento. Its a bit rainy right now but Im germinating the seeds as i speak. Have no idea what the seeds are so i decided to name the Khalifa Kush in honor of the latest upcoming new marijuana rapper lol. once their germinated im going to put them under a set of 4 fluorescent tubes are run pretty much 20/4 until it looks good enough to put out side and there is no risk of damaging weather. really hoping that these are girl seeds but we will see. i plan on getting some others seeds from the dispensary a little later but this for right now is my experiment and latest project to keep busy. hope to see good results

Hers what ive created for the first couple of weeks to start my seedlings to be ready for the outdoors.
The seeds have cracked and im just waiting on the stems to become a tad bit longer for a better chance of surviving.

The babies are about 4-4 inches tall now and starting to grow quite fast. I have them on 24 hr constant light under a couple of flourescents and will start to make the transition from growing indoors to growinf them outdoors. I realize that i should showly and gradually transition them starting about a week earlier. i live in sacramento CA and i think our days are starting to get longer im just waiting for the sun to start hangin out in the air a little longer. here are some pics of what they look like so far.
p.s. I do not know if these plants are female or male so was thinking about while they were vegging outdoors to take a clone off of each one and flower it in my indoor room just to see. im trying to make these plants huge by growing them early and giving them as much soil as they need. any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Not sure specifically of Sacto but it is in Nor Cal and generally folks say you should put plants outside the last weekend of May. Around this date the sun will be up long enough to keep the plants vegging into the summer. If you put the plants out too early for the sun hours or if the weather will be overcast for the next week or two the plants could trigger and start budding. In this case you should wait even later. Make sure that all chance of frost has passed as well.
I went by the date last year and neglected to take the weather into account. I had both frost damage that stunted the plants to the point that they never really recovered and several others triggered due to the overcast weather and lack of sun. I only harvested about 20% of what I should have had.
Keep the calendar and weather in mind when putting the girls outdoors.

about a month old now and growing quite well they had a little trauma when moving them from the cups to the pots and had some yellow leaves that died and i just took them off cause the new growth looked perfectly fine. the sun is starting to come out now and i'm starting to give them a taste of what that is like slowly but surely each day. heres a pic of how they are doingAttachment 273548Attachment 273547Attachment 273549Attachment 273550

That is the way. Introduce them gradually to the sun. I see that you did not mean you were just going to put them out and let the sun do its thing. I do the same with my plants when I move them out of the veg box. I supplement the light.
Your plants look good.

Subscribed. Not only has westsacgrower impressed me with his other threads and posts, but I live an hour's drive west of him (off Highway 128, west of Winters), so whatever his conditions are, they're very similar to mine. Whatever works for him should do the same for me. Oh, and an outdoor grow is definitely on my list for later this spring.
BTW, those girls are going to be monsters by the time you plant them out, man... :)

StoneMeadow You are close to my area but probably at a lower elevation. So what works in Sac should work for you. I still can't even get into my property since it snowed to 2500 feet and I need to go a little over 4000 feet to get in. At least it should be a real good year for water. I hope my roads are still there. Good luck with your outdoor grow.

Yeah, according to my brother's GPS my house is at about 270' elevation down on the floor of one of those valleys off 128, so my conditions are pretty much the same as the Central Valley. And no passes to go over on my way to and from town. :)
Got any recommendations for varieties suited to outdoors in the Central Valley? I have Sensai Early Skunk going now, but I'd like to add some White Widow and/or AK47 if they do okay outdoors.

YouTube. I swear you could probably learn to be a doctor off that site. I've seen some white widow turn out nice looking outdoors on YouTube. Pretty big too. But definitely check it out.

The days have been great here in west sacramento and im thinkin besides this weekend its gunna be all good from here on out. if not ill put them under a cover but its perfect out. transplanted one into a 5 gal bucket and am hoping it will start to outgrow it within a month or two and ill start looking for barrels to put them in. one thing that i did do wrong was the fact that i forgot that i had to slowly get them adapted to the sun light but as far as right now it looks like they are loving it and it didnt affect them at all. ill post some pictures when i get the chance and when they are all in 5 gal buckets.

Maybe it's just the photos, but your girls look to me like they need some nitrogen. My girls are in 3-gal buckets with good potting soil, but I still supplement them with a bit of Alaska Fish Fertilizer nearly every day to keep those leaves deep green and the growth strong.

I agree with the above poster. your leaves a getting a bit yellow from a lack of nitrogen. Check to see if the plant is rootbound and isnt wrapping your roots around the pot. It looks like its time to transplant into a bigger pot with more soil/ or the ground.
I just think its odd that your plants are showing nitrogen defiency, but also so signs of nutrtient burn on the tips of the leaves. It leads me to believe that your PH is off.
Check your PH too, if your PH is off then the plant cant absorb nitrogen, even though it may be present in your soil.
The nitrogen defiency is just gunna get worse unless you use some preventative measures. your plants look good, im just giving my opinion based off experience. sometimes i tend to come off as a dick.:rasta:

Westsac, how are your plants coming along? Got 'em outdoors yet?
