very odd problem

I'm not an expert at this but I have been doing this for awhile and I've got something that I've never seen before nor do I have any idea where to start. I have to apologize, my camera is not taking good enough pics with any focus to see the problem....

You know when you accidentally get a drop of Ph down or nutes on a leaf and you get that little whitish/greyish spot on it? Well, I'm getting something that looks a little like it and originally I thought maybe that was the issue but now I'm not so sure because it appears to be slowly showing on other places where I originally saw it. It started as a few little, grey, wet spots that caused the little spot to basically slowly disintegrate, become a bit elastic (like the chloroform was breaking down, and staying wet in that spot area. I have also found some little spots on other plants on their leaves only. I discovered this two days ago. Today, I found a bit in a top cola on the same plant where it seemed to originate and as I opened up the top cola, there was a tiny amount of wet, dark, matter that looked like it would eventually turn to mush. I'm starting to think this might be spreading a bit but maybe I'm going crazy. Today, I thought I found a couple of small spots on places I didn't see it yesterday, on a couple of other plants. Again, the spots are wet, not powdery and I have had no chems out that could splash on them the last couple of days.

I do have some white powdery mildew issues going on but I can eradicate that pretty easily. I have not sprayed anything yet as the plant most effected, as well as a few others, are set to be cut down in 2 days. Then I'll hit the remaining plants hard with mildew/fungus spray.

Any ideas on what the heck this is? Thanks a ton for the help.

I'll take a shot in the dark without pics or a troubleshooting form and suspect budrot.

Budrot will infect and turn colas to mush in a matter of days and may destroy a crop in a week if left unchecked. Botrytis loves warm, and humid (50% or over humidity) conditions. Lowering humidity will slow and stop spore germination. Good ventilation and decent air circulation help prevent infection.

A grow room may smell noticeably moldy if Botrytis has attacked one or more colas. Once a cola has been infected, Botrytis will spread incredibly fast. Entire colas will turn to brown mush and spores will be produced, attacking other nearby colas. Ventilation may spread viable spores throughout the room, as well. Do a search for the term budrot and you will find a wealth of info.

thanks for the quick response, Lynhal. I suspected budrot at first but there is no powdery residue anywhere, it's wet and greyish. Looks nothing like typical powdery fungus or mildew. Any other thoughts?

Do whatever you can to keep the humidity down and don't get any water on the buds while watering. Pick the dead ones off as soon as you see them. As soon as you get brown or amber tricomes harvest.

hey rudy. I recently moved things into the basement so I'm having to use the dehumidifier and some air filters to control things down there. Right now, humidity is hovering around 50%. Definitely some powdery white mildew in spots but like I said, I have never seen the wet, grey stuff. By wet, grey, I mean it looks like whatever got on the plant is forcing the water out of the leaf and dissolving the chlorophyll. If it was powdery stuff doing this I wouldn't be so nervous cause I know what to do on that.

like I said, I've been around the block for awhile, this is just very different for me. Hell, maybe I'm nuts and I splashed some Ph down around and just didn't notice it.

I'm with Lyn, sounds like Botrytis (bud rot) It's not a mildew, its a full on mold.

Have you been foliar feeding or spraying the plants on a regular basis? if so...stop till you know that it's not causing the issue.
Do you have fresh air supply and fan's on 'em at all times?

only on a smaller scale? Fuzzy grey spots?

None of us have pointed out, yet I feel the need to, that this medication should not be used at all. Should be thrown out and chalk it up to one of lifes hard lessons with time and effort put into it. Please, do not use these meds. Seriously ... I know, you're thinking you've wasted a good part of time to realize your grow. Don't risk hurting yours or anyone elses lungs with this type of mold. This might just be IMHO, but I have trusted my opinion for a long time. I really hate to tell you this BobWeed, but I could not in good conscience not state this to you.

My advice: Chop it all down and start fresh after a thorough disinfection with a mixture of bleach and water. Do not reuse anything from this grow without a thorough disinfection. (I'm even saying wiping down your light fixtures, etc., with a semi-moist rag while they're unplugged and let dry.)

Good news is your next grow you will keep the humidity to the right scale, not getting their foliage wet during flowering unless able to effectively dry them while reducing the humidity. You'll be vent'ing the heck out of those babies and you'll soon have something really special. :thumbsup:

I had to toss lbs of weed 2 years ago when it kept raining at the end of the season. It really hurt because I lost about a pound of killer white widow. Last year was much drier at the end of the season so there was much less loss. Mostly the white kush had a problem last season so it is off my list for this year.

You definitely need to just toss the moldy buds.:(

what a bummer id hate to toss away that much med's but like the guys say its all about your health

BobWeed just make double sure its rot if it is take the guys advise it could just save your health
ive heard of ppl smoking nasty rotted buds and have become quite ill at the end of the day its mold in your system....:( its like living in a moldy room you will eventually get ill my bro
