In the mean time sign my petition.
I am going to amend the Petition to include ALL of the RI Legislature!

Brothers and Sisters,
We must all raise our voices and be heard. In this era of American democracy, an old-fashioned phone call represents the voices of five to ten constituents. The one person taking the time to call about an issue means there are countless other lazy, a-politicos that will yell at the television or computer screen... and do little else.
Click here to find out who your RI state representatives are.
Call their offices today! You want your state representative and senator in the general assembly. They are listed underneath the attorney general. Be polite, courteous, and informative. Explain, gently, why sick patients and the people who donate time/energy to helping them are being wrongly portrayed and generalized in the press and in such legislation. Say thank you for your time.
Of course, you will only be talking to administrative assistant. However, they keep track of every phone call. That is where it counts.
This article came out last night, and our legislators need blowback from the general public today. Then, organized assembly--such as through RIPAC--can carry the message through.
Please, my fellows. We have to work to keep this burgeoning program safe for all of us. Two five minute phone calls can really help all of you in the long run.
Thanks for listening.
:thumbsup:

State Representative Michael J. Marcello for Scituate has been contacted-message left.
What a corrupt state. reject all original cc aps, because "too many pages", head of DOH forced out because he didn't want to play ball. the cc rejection gave time for our state government to put their cc plan together. and now the propossed law will remove caregivers and stop caregiver/patients from tradeing medication.
there was a story in the projo they used the example one patient with vicodin cannot give another patient vicodin. This is very true, But the patient who is out of vicodin can get his prescription(not recommendation) anywhere, if the refill is too much at CVS he can goto rite aid or walgreens and he can buy health insurance to help with cost, even my medicare pays 80% for prescriptions, will the new cc take medicare
sorry about the rant, i'm new here and my addrenalin is pumping
time to medicate--ahhhh thats better
Here's the new changes!!! Your not going to like it...
Notwithstanding any other provisions of this chapter, effective January 1, 2013, the cultivation and dispensing of medical marijuana shall only be authorized by compassion centers.
How does this change even matter if the above takes place????
(m) A registered qualifying patient or registered primary caregiver may give marijuana to another registered qualifying patient or registered primary caregiver to whom they are not connected by the department's registration process, provided that no consideration is paid for the marijuana, and that the recipient does not exceed the limits specified in section 21-28.6-4.
Sounds to me like you can no longer charge anything for MM, let me know what you think???
Not disagreeing with this change here!!!
A person may not serve as a primary caregiver if he or the has a felony drug conviction, unless the department waives this restriction in respect to a
specific individual at the department's discretion. Additionally, the department shall allow the person to serve as a primary caregiver if the department determines that the offense was for conduct that occurred prior to the enactment of the Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Marijuana Act or that was prosecuted by an authority other than the state of Rhode Island and for which the Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Marijuana Act would otherwise have prevented a conviction or a conviction for a capital offense.
I DON'T LIKE THIS ONE ONE BIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:
No One Will Go To CC's If This Is Allowed!!!!
Inspection. - Compassion centers are subject to reasonable inspection by the department of health, division of facilities regulation state police. The department shall give reasonable notice of an inspection under this subsection. During an inspection, the department state police may review the compassion center's confidential records, including its dispensing records, which may track transactions according to qualifying patients' registry identification numbers to protect their confidentiality.
All non-resident principal officers and board members shall designate an agent for service of process and shall also sign a waiver of extradition in the event of a criminal proceeding resulting from their position with a Rhode Island compassion center arising; - GOOD IDEA
legislative oversight committee showing checks and balances which is important:
The general assembly shall appoint a nine (9) member oversight committee comprised of : one member of the house of representatives; one member of the senate; one physician to be selected from a list provided by the Rhode Island medical society; one nurse to be selected from a list provided by the Rhode Island state nurses association; two (2) registered qualifying patients; one registered primary caregiver; one patient advocate to be selected from a list provided by the Rhode Island patient advocacy coalition; and one representative of the law enforcement community.
The oversight committee shall meet at least six (6) times per year for the purpose of evaluating and making recommendations to the general assembly regarding:
(i) Patients' access to medical marijuana;
(ii) Efficacy of compassion center;
(iii) Physician participation in the Medical Marijuana Program;
(iv) The definition of qualifying medical condition;
(v) Research studies regarding health effects of medical marijuana for patients.
On or before January 1 of every even numbered year, the oversight committee shall report to the general assembly on its findings.
Think it won't happen here? Look at Montana ! The house already passed a bill to repeal the whole MM law....
Montana House approves repeal of medical marijuana law
Hope everyone has been making calls. Personally , i think we are fucked......

They never will publish an article showing ANY good.Im sure they are paid by someone to keep bad press in the papers.Quote:

The only real advantage in RI compared to most of the states is that there are still politicians who know and held dear Thomas Slatery :thumbsup: and I don't believe let others greed tarnish their constituents memory :smokin:...not saying it won't happen eventually but IMO not while people who watched the man suffer as he served won't let it happen. Really it's these ex cop and cronies :wtf: pushing it from a political platform for public image but have know idea what suffering is....YET...Karma's a bitch!:thumbsup:
You think that's bad, Projo is publishing articles about how good it is that applicant Summit Compassion because URI's basketball Cotino Moblie (Spelling???) who went pro is throwing millions of dollars at the project.Quote:

Now I know where they got the numbers for their application that stated the fact that they anticipated that 8000 patients would sign on by year three when their are only a little of 2,000 registered patients in RI as of now.
Their affiliates a Kent Hospital are probably going on a MM Card signing spree soon after the get approved...lol If you think for one second some scum bag with a lot of money and little celebrity who has no problem breaking the law, tainting our youth for profit would have any problems repeating the same crimes here in RI.... You are a damn fool!!!!!
Many people have tried to submit articles to the press about this issue yet no one wants touch it unless it comes from RIPAC...common!!!! I tell'em to go national and show the world how corrupt RI's news has become.... So much for being a voice for the people... Time to start my blog...hahaha
I here Providence Businss News is running and article in next Monday's weekly paper... Someone check it out and let us know what you think???
Keep on fighting the good fight...
