Coming to New Mexico

Hi everybody. I am a disabled male living in North Carolina and planning to come to New Mexico. They have been dragging their feet too long here on MMJ so it is time to leave. I have all the meical history put together for a physician to examine in NM. I have been growing for quite some time here but it is getting to dangerous and the conservatives just took over the legislature for the first time in 125 years. Time to leave. I have a couple of questions if someone would not mind answering them.

What type of time frame am I looking at from arriving in NM and getting an apartment or house to the time I can begin another grow?

If I have an excess when a grow is completed, does the MMJ law of NM allow me to sell the excess to a dispensary?

What are the costs of a license to grow for myself?

What are the costs of a caregivers license?

What are the limitations on the plants. I have 9 really incredible strains that I will be bringing?

I probably could think up a dozen more questions but I do not want to wear ya'll out. Thanks ahead for any and all help that is offered.

It normally takes about 3-4 weeks to get your card. Then to get the personal production license...it takes about 3 weeks as well. However, you can apply for both at them same time and save your self a few weeks.

Growing in an apt may be problematic as you need permission from landlord and would be unlikely given. A house may be considered more discreet etc.

Excess grow cannot be sold to dispensaries.

Plant limits for personal growth are as follows: 4 mature plants and 12 seedlings.

I beleive the cost of a personal production license is 10 or 20 dollars??

As far as I know,there IS NO state where you can sell your excess to a "dispensary".......colorado did away with that.

I would prefer to be legal. My diagnosis however is terminal. I have no fear of being incarcerated because no local jail is going to undertake the financial burden of providing for me over something as petty as a personal MMJ grow. My health could literally destroy the budget of a jail in a medium sized city alone (given that a transplant became available while I was in state custody).

Given this, I would prefer to remain at least somewhat independent and suppliment my SS disability (which is barely enough to pay rent) and be in a legal state where my skills can not only help myself but others as well. I know that some states are supposed to allow "vendors" to help them with their supply. This was what I was referring to.

I wish you the best, but cant they turn you down on a transplant if you smoke, I have read of it happening to more than a few people.
Best wishes, and I think in cali you can sell your excess to the clubs if you get a special permit, but I could be totally wrong about that.:)

Where did I ever say I smoke? Smoking is not the only way of ingesting medical cannabis my friend.

I mean from it coming up in your system, and I mean nothing but the best for you, I was just asking.
here is an example

Hawaiian woman Kimberly Reyes died after HMSA declined to cover her liver transplant due to marijuana use.
Big Island resident Kimberly Reyes, who was diagnosed with Hepatitis in March 2008, had been told in July that she had less than 30 days to live. Her family claimed the Waimea resident had followed doctor's orders, but her insurance carrier, Hawaii Medical Service Association, denied her coverage for a liver transplant she needed to survive because three toxicology tests showed trace amounts of cannabis in her system.

According to Reyes' attorney, Ted Herhold, with San Francisco-based Townsend and Townsend, toxicology tests from June 14, July 3 and July 14 were the sole final basis for HMSA's final denial of coverage for the 51-year-old mother of five.

Reyes' mother, Noni Kuhns, and Kimberly's husband, Robin, acknowledged HMSA's decision was based upon a failure to comply with the insurer's policy forbidding drug use. However, both claimed after the claim denial that neither HMSA nor her doctors notified Kimberly or the family of HMSA's apparent policy on drug use.

Following at least five separate telephone inquiries from West Hawaii Today made over a one-week period, HMSA public information officer Chuck Marshall replied through an e-mail that HMSA declined to comment. HMSA also declined to provide the insurance carrier's standard policies in regard to drug use or drug use and transplant approval.

Kimberly Reyes died July 27 at Hilo Hospital, 16 months after being diagnosed. In the months after her diagnosis, she suffered cirrhosis of the liver, chronic Hepatitis infection, end-stage kidney disease and hepatorenal syndrome, which is caused by low blood flow to the kidneys due to liver deterioration.

"Just because someone takes a hit off of a joint doesn't mean that it should be the end of their life -- this is not a reason to deny life," said Kuhns.

The Hepatitis virus attacks the liver and interferes with its function, leading to liver failure and cirrhosis, or fatal scarring, of the liver, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Kimberly Reyes was twice denied her application for transplant by HMSA for "technical reasons," such as missing required Alcoholics Anonymous meetings because she was too weak for doctor appointments, claimed Kuhns. However, on July 17, Reyes received HMSA's approval for a liver transplant.

That approval signaled that the Reyes family and HMSA had apparently resolved compliance issues, Herhold said.

Three days later HMSA denied the transplant approval after it received toxicology tests that showed cannabis in her system, Herhold said.

He claimed her marijuana use was "an indiscretion."

She did not, according to her attorney and family, have a prescription for medical marijuana use.

Kuhns and Robin both claimed Kimberly Reyes had stopped smoking marijuana "years ago," but took a few hits off a marijuana cigarette that day to relieve feelings of nausea, disorientation and pain.

Reyes, who was in Hilo Hospital's intensive care unit before her death, on July 23 declined to speak with West Hawaii Today, saying she was having difficulty talking, was worn out and not in the mood.

The problem is not being refused a transplant for marijuana use. The problem is me killing the person who denies me and laughing about it when they are prosecuting me for murder. Does a person who is guaranteed to die suddenly become LESS dangerous because they are ill? I would be terrified as a medical professional to deny someone a life-saving surgery. That is like sticking a gun in your own mouth but letting someone else pull the trigger. People should start to be held more accountable. Maybe we need to begin behaving like they do in Mexico and put some fear into people. If you know there is a chance, however slight it may be, that you or your children or perhaps all of you will be executed for screwing somebody over, would you gamble with these lives? Of course not. That is the problem in the US. People do not stand up for themselves. Americans have become weak and unaccustomed to fighting for what they believe in. The "out of sight, out of mind" becomes rule. When was the last time you saw a news agency do a reading on the militay dead? This is because they are becoming forgotten after all this time at war. As long as Americans follow like stupd sheep, people in the US will contine to be screwed over. Ever notice that every time there is a huge riot by African-Americans or other minorities who are getting screwed that change comes around? This is because the US does not want it to repeat again. Did you see how Congress when crazy after the woman in Arizona got shot? They were worried about protecting themselves, not the general public. How are you supposed to keep a gun 1000 feet from a member of Congress? Carry yardage markers like the NFL? Violence is the only true way to reform. People get scared and they will make deals quickly because the powerful are actually the weakest. They have more to lose and are not willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of justice or change. I know this was a morbid post, but in all honesty this is what should be done to people who screw over people and think there will be no repercussions for their behavior.

There is a difference between right and privilege. I agree 100% with you. However, what chapped my ass over the organ donation was reading about an organ transplant that was on paper as the wish of a dying man. He wanted a particular person to have the organ. The medical provider said no because of MMJ usage. The organ then went to someone else. Then man then died because of the decision.

If it was my mothers or fathers wish that someone SPECIFIC be saved as was the case here and some administrator made a decision to give the organ to someone else and they died, the admin has to die for disrespecting my family. No questions asked and that is the same thing the jury would hear from me. I would not feel remorse or sadness over the loss of the admin or sympathy for his family. If he is an asshole then they are probably assholes too because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

ok the only state i know is California and I only think you can do that if you live in the certain county like Mendicino county and you have to apply with the sheriffs office. look it up on line its called the "Zip Tie" program. good luck. :thumbsup:
