nutrients????? please help first grow

Well I was wondering if anyone could help me a little this is my first grow and I have a problem with my bag seed plant its about 8 weeks old and its pretty decent but I'm usiing miracle gro but that's not the problem I wanted to know if I could start flowering on 12-12 because the nutrients that i got were the wrong kind and my plant is getting a little too big so i wanted to know if I could just switch too 12 on 12 off until I get more nutrients??

I'm doing a scrog/Lst grow with mid grade weed for first grow with one cfl 26/100watts I have two more im putting in today another 26 cfl and a soft white 13/50 watt

any advice would help me alot I listen to everything

Ok so if you listen, you need to read. That said,first of all you need to keep it there till harvest or it may hermy. Second, the lights will make your plants start to flower, not any nutes you put on them. So, switch to 12/12 and keep it there, but in less your growing a couple grams of weed, you need way more light. And 100watts of light will never grow a plant thats to big, ever. If so we would all have one. If you look at my cfl grow in my sig, i think in the end, i had 11 cfl's and the grow worked. But the only reason was i kept the lights and plants tight with reflective white card board. Use anything to reflect your light, but you need way more man. I would get more lights and skip the nutes, the plant will grow fine. Watch the plant grow and do some reading, those are the best 2 things i can say. You need to read to understand that 100ws of light could not grow much of a plant. Trust me, i use one to start my seeds, but the lights i made in my grow are cheep to buy and easy to make. Heck one set would flower her nice. Read the lighting section and look at sq ft per watt. You need at least X amount of light to get X amount of bud, in less your only looking to grow a joint at a time:stoned:this will not get ya friendly with the girls:(. Also, the reading helps you know what im talking about:D
I used 279watts of cfl's for my grow, 4 lants and got a qp in the end, first indoor, i was pleased.:jointsmile:

Being first grow i think your right, but i missed the MG. I have grown with pre fertted soil, but never added anything through the grow. I saw to many people burn their plant or that would have been the first thing id say. But people always want to add something:wtf:

Well first you need to know that there is not any person here that can tell you how much you can get at harvest. What you need to do is grow out a few plants and watch them grow. In the mean time read till your eyes bleed, we all read and new info is always learned. These must be done as there are no short cuts, if ya want the dankness:thumbsup:

As far as your so called ''mid grade bag seed'', the genetics in it may be killer as it was probably mass grown and not taken care of. You would be very surprised what some bag seed can give you with the proper care.

As far as the lights, yeah that will get your plant to bud up ok, but your not going to get an oz or anything. If your lucky maybe an 1/4oz, but this is only under the right conditions. Read the lighting section, it will give you a better understanding then just this paragraph.

If you read Canni's thread on his Scrog, it can give you an idea what you need to get and the lighting used. LST can work well with great yields and keep your space tight. Just make sure the lights are as close to the plant as possible and like i said in the first post, try and keep something reflective around your plant. Mylar works the best, but flat white paint is great i believe as its better then nothing. Canni got 3 1/2 oz's i think from his last Scrog, but he has the first of all, the know how, lights, set-up, the correct nutes and reads all the time.

Man when you first start to grow, i understand the excitement, cuz at one time we all were there. But reading and understanding the plants needs are something you need to read about. But this will make you a great grower some day and this time next year, you ill be growing well. Just takes reading and growing out plants and watch them develop in my opinion.

Add the lights and go 12/12, but it is very important when in the plants dark cycle it does not get any light period or it will hermy. Also you need a fan to cool the cfl's as they are not so hot, but as they get close to the plant, they will burn it. But its very important to keep them close 3''-4'' away if not closer. Some burn in the end will give better buds, just dont burn them to bad. Read my grow in the Sig, i used cfl's, then ask more questions so we are on the same page.:thumbsup:

okay i have a read a bout half of the your 10 indoor grow so far and it made add a couple of things to my grow like the y splitter and the white paint spray and where do you get yours seeds from i have to used my own from bagseed but ill keep reading and keep asking questions.......

Well if i had a big ass grow, yeah i might not post it till it was grown and gone. But i grow a small 5-6 plants which makes me a little fish in a big pond so no, they are looking for the big grows, not us the little guys only growing small scale gardens. Bro if they tried to get someone on here it wouldn't be that easy, plus there are so many sites like this, they would not know ware to start, not to mention the money it would take to get people. But i only post here, you would get caught by telling a friend faster then posting on here. When posting pics, just post the plant, not your address and your cool:cool:

Thats cool, its much more easy to help someone once you see where they are at. This guy showed me a pic of a plant upside down, like ya see on TV with tomato's. So you never know what to expect, but il help you get it right and once pic's are up, members who know much more then i should pop in. But il help you get you set up to the point, you will at least get a yield. Then its on you to read an learn to get a better grow each time.

with scrog your better off using flouro tubes rather than cfl's, better spread. try a 4x4 with at least four, (2) bulb four foot long flouros. your seed could be hit and miss to begin with(as it is bagseed and may not be stable) so dont expect too much. this is a good oppurtunity to learn to clone and train and feed right. hid,s will be more productive as you gain skill;)

Well here it is this my I'm thinking now is that I am not going to have enough room for flowering so IIm going to do my best on tie her down but i'm am not actually sure of it's sex yet so I'm probably going to know in a week ore two right??? but yeah What do you guy's think?? oh yeah and those little branches in the picture on the left should these be cut off?? And i know bad pics but tell me what angles i should of took the picture at so i can give you a better view

Well it was supposed to be scrog but I don't think it's going turn out right because i tied down the branches and i topped the plant and i heard all of that is not required for scrog but yeah i don't think i have enough space for any four foot bulbs right now and with cloning i'm not that sure on how to clone yet can you tell me what i should do about space like should i do some cuttings to my lil one

Way better then i thought bro:thumbsup: Just untie everything and put ''y'' splitter's in the ''y'' splitters, this way you will have 4 bulbs and looks great to grow what you have, im impressed. Not sure how you got that plant that big with one 26w cfl, but look great. Dont cut anything on it, but if you want to take a clone from it and put it into 12/12, then you will know if your plant is male or female.

But you have gone this far with a nice looking plant. So i would add the 2 more lights with the splitters and flip the lights to 12/12. You should see sex in a few days then.

Id only take cuttings if you know its female, why waste your time when you could start another plant just in case you have a male. You should search identifying sex early, there are a couple great threads on it in here. Il try and find the one i read just the other day, it was great and by a long time grower.

One thing, get that light off the floor and put it above or growth will try to find it and you want your growth going up:thumbsup:

Thanks man I was shocked that it grew that big to because of all the other grows I saw with way more light and stuff but yeah i'm going to get more y splitters tomorrow. Do you mean untie the lst ties on it or what? And for space do you think this is enough room in my box to untie the strings. I dont think it will be but i'm the beginner so what do you think

And I have to make another box and stuff for clones and I have to get the supplies or whatever so yeah I wanted to just grow this and see the process and then get a little more serious so I can grow BIG BUDD weed lol but yeah help me........

youll have to figure the space problem out on your own, always a way. nice little setup, gently tie the branches down and remove anything below the canopy that isnt going to reach the screen (good time to practice cloning.) just let it fill half your screen or maybe a wee bit more and start flowering.

cloning

cloning gel, powder, liquid
rooting medium; rockwool, rapid rooter, etc.
sharp cutting utensil
ph balanced water
humidity chamber (mini greenhouse)
scissors
tray and cup

this may vary from person to person however basics still apply. get every thing set up proir to. select branches to be cut. trim leaves off except for a couple of small leaves and leave the shoots alone. cut branches off and place in cup. one at a time place branch into tray and make a diagonal cut in a lengthwise direction near the base of the stem. quickly dip the stem into cloning solution and place into rooting medium. place clone into humidity chamber spray with foliar feed daily and wait. you can use soil in cups but you wont be able to see progress until it starts growing. other mediums you can see if its rooting sooner. at this stage you do not want bright light. keep it low level like 20watts and not to close. temperature around 75. dont let it dry out especially the rooting medium. once you have roots in about 10 days to 2 weeks plant into a new medium of your choosing and place into a larger humidity chamber until the roots grab into their new home. usually after a week or two they start growing start practicing you dont want to loose a prize plant due to that.

oh yeah, try 2 foot flouros they might help the light spread plus they can be a half inch away for intensity. not sure if it will fit just trying to help.

thanks man for the advice but you know the picture on the left with the little brances growing on my main stem what are those going to be should those be cut off or is that where the bud is going o form on

for now let them grow. as your screen fills up youll be better able to guage whether they should be cut. be patient and dont overthink this whole process. this method is one of the cheapest ways to go especially for the yield potential. your bud all of it will be tied to the screen and closest to the light. by the time your ready to flower there should be nothing underneath the screen, well except branches. hope this is helping.

well thanks it helped a little bit with my grow but I switched to 12/12 already so i can find out what sex it is i think its a female though because of the taller skinnier plants i had with it i kept this one because it had way more branches on it then the other i hope it's a girl...... I think i'm just going to lst and keep the screen in there just to stop the taller branches from upwards growth

One thing you should know is that male's do grow faster, just an FYI. I think if you get 4 CFL's in there, you will have a nice harvest. And also your cfl wattage is 26watts, its only saying equivalent to 100 watts. You need to read the lighting section its very interesting and when getting the tools of the hobby, lighting is pretty important. I used 279watts of CFL's for a first indoor grow and i was very happy in the end and that was 11 CFL's at different watts. I had some 27, 26 and some 13watt bulbs, which equaled the 279 total watts, if this makes sense.

I think your on track with the 12/12 switch, but next time before all your work id try and get sex. There are many ways to do this and could find them here.

well since your doing that, take 5 clones for practice(trust me , youll thank me later, if not for this plant then maybe another) now that youre flowering let the branches through the screen, frankly, you should have done that already...its the whole point of a scrog. scrog is defined in the dictionary as PATIENCE;) some people will utilize more than one plant at a time for quicker results. from your pics of your plant is perfect for scrog. a wiley branching beast. tamed a few in my day, i did. what you need is a flat bed of buds growing from the screen not limbs reaching towards its light scource. lay it flat and gain results.

Okay thats cool but you used 11 bulbs for one plant? but ok ill see if I can find and fit two 65 watts bulbs, and thanx for the advice.:rastasmoke:

okay thanks bro thats good to know from someone with more experience but yeah right now i will probably start cloning in my next few grows so i can get the hang of it first when you say let the branches out the screen do you mean the ones that are growing from my main stem or all the branches in the grow box then pull them back im not sure i thought secondary branches were what i was suppose to be putting threw the screen ive been looking at alot of pics and stuff on scrog and lst and flowerd plants and they all look like they didnt start off with as many branches i did so im a little confused on what i should be training under the screen basically everything thats coming out the screen i need advice but so far so good just dont wont mess up i know you guys said be patience i guess imma try

your fine, just doing things the hard way. i promise after this grow youll laugh and then find youve stepped into a whole new pile. there is no need to top at all. whatever branch makes it to the top wins (thats above the screen.) any and every branch that makes it an inch above the screen will get gently bent over and tied down (wow that was kinda hot:D) look at your screen and picture a maze game where you have to make all those branches tie down into every slot. leave some space for flowering time though as it will most likely continue to grow, this is known as stretch. before you start to flower any leaf and puny branch underneath will be cut and discarded or used as clones. during flower the process for filling the screen is the same, tie down. eventually stretch will halt and buds will fill your screen:thumbsup: hopefully im making sense, sometimes i have a hard time explaining myself.

Ill just call you T for short;)

i have no pics at all, sorry. you can search scrog on the internet and look at other peoples setups. sativas will stretch more than indicas so that will be a huge factor.

Well it's just growing those pistils everywhere but no bud yet a couple of the little branches are starting to stretch not a problem though it's just some of my fan leaves are getting smashed a little bit on the outside i was going to trim them but imma just leave them and see what happens or will trimming be better for more space and i just been browsing a little bit on a reflector i might just try and make one.. Why not right i made everything else But yeah about some of the fan leaves thats stretching outward too much would it be more stress n the plant if i trim them or just like leave them bent up in my box because that's what happen when i close my door for the night cycle

unless fan leaves are blocking crucial light, leave them(ha, ernie you made a funny...respect mon! " "shark tales" you can also pull leaves down under the screen without cutting them. plants breathe through their leaves so cutting does stress them. potential bud sites that are covered may be cut to allow more light to penetrate, thus bigger buds. do it yourself, whatever it takes. well its gettin crazy here...gotta go:cool:
