I have had great success with Hot Shots keeping the likes of Spider Mites away. However today I spotted these tiny little flying bugs that are either on or in just the soil. They don't seem to be on the plants. I'm 3 weeks away from harvest. What are they? Should I be concerned? How do I get rid of them? Etc etc etc..... :smokin:

Thanks for that. We're burried under a bunch of snow and sands not readily avail. idea for a store. Home depot, Ace? Can those gnats cause damage? I'll trek out after a bit of melt.

Haven't tried the sand thing,.... Tho haven't had a problem with fungus gnats either ;)
Diatomaceous earth might work too. And as an added benefit, it adds silica which helps strengthen stems if added early.

I might have these too :O
I saw one in my grow closet but both my plants are seedlings right now and are covered with plastic wrap.
Should I be worried about them? Way to prevent/kill them?
Right now I just put a hotshot type strip in.

Sorry to take attention away from your question but it directly relates so I thought it would help you to ;) I went over some of the other things people told you :)

I added a Hot Shot down low and out of the fan breeze until I can dig out and get to town for some sand. we shall see if that helps. I already have a Hot Shot up but it's up high and in the breeze.

Well we got dumped on again. Damn winter. However, got the sand in a bag. Of course it was frozen and had to thaw it to use it. I mentioned I added a Hot Shot down low, did not kill the little thingy's. It does work on Spider Mites that I had on my very first grow. The sand is another story. I swear I could hear them screaming "help I'm drowning, ohhhhhh". Great recomendation. They are Sour Deisels and set up on auto water, indoor, organic grown in MG, 400w HPS, 3 150w Blue floods, 12/12, 77'(f), eta 1/13/11. Slow water dripped at the right time so it does not "stir" up the sand. Again Kudos for the rec!
