Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Got this template from: http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-pro...ing-forms.html
What is your experience level? Absolute First Timer
Your Equipment:
.1) 2x 60W CFL bulbs (one red and one blue color)
.2) Always approx 2 inches from top of plant
.3) It's a cabinet (all flat matte white)
.4) Fan that takes air out, Warm heater(mini) but is good to keep constant temperature, Windows for cold fresh air? (never used yet)
.5) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan? Nope
.6) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule? Starting yesterday I put the lights to 18on/16off. Before that for the first 10 days of the plants life they were 24hours on
Your medium:
.7) Specific brand and type of soil, (coco, peat based soilless...) and anything you've added to it. (vermiculite, perlite, worm castings...)
-> Soil - Theres a link to it
http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?D=917495&Ntt=917495&catalo gId=10051&langId=-15&storeId=10051&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntx=mode+ matchall&N=0&Ntk=P_PartNumber
-> All purpose (Plant Prod- brand) 20-20-20 Fertilizer
-> A inch or two or plain perlite at bottom of pot
.8) Size of container? Not sure :( see pictures
.9) Did you use peat pucks (or similar) to root clones or germinate seedlings?
->No, I put them in between two moist paper towels and inbetween two plates at 77 degrees F.
Your nutrients and water:
10) Source of water? (tap, bottled or filtered) What's it's ph before adjusting?
->Filtered water that has been sitting out forever/ room temp.
11) Method of checking water ph. (ph pen, test strips, aquarium test kit...)
-> none yet :(
12) Method of adjusting water ph. (phosphoric acid, white vinegar, hydrated lime, PH Up...)
-> none yet :(
13) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule.
14) How often are you watering between feedings, and how much per watering?
-> When soil look like it needs water/ is 'crusty' on top. Until soil is moist(and I can see a decent amount of water at bottom of pot) -sometimes about 1L
15) Any additives or tea's? (Superthrive, CalMag, molasses, Mother's Earth...)
-> Neem oil after thinking there might be spider mite :( - Can someone try to confirm?
16) Are your ph levels stable, or do they fluctuate?
-> No clue
17) What is your ingoing water's ph? ...your runoff ph?
-> No clue
18) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you spray?
-> What's that -.-
Your growroom:
19) Indoors or outdoors?
-> I
20) What size of closet, room or hut?
->Cabinet
21) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off?
-> Always about 77degrees F(25degrees C) lights on and off.
22) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom?
-> Not that I know of. Scared of spider mites (there seem to be VERY TINY white dots only on the tops of my leafs) Can someone confirm?
Your strain:
23) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?)
->80/20 Indica/Sativa
24) From seeds or clones?
-> Seeds (Bubble Gum x Og Kush)
25) Is this an autoflower strain?
-> Nope
Ps. 13 days ago it was just a seed. Saw the first bit of sprouting out of the soil 11 days ago. So thats about how old this seedling is. I seee a few little white dots and am afraid it might be spider mites so I bought neem oil to spray it down a bit once a week. Started fertilizing (will fertilize 1time every 2 weeks as the package says), also put in a hotshot strip which gets rid of flying insects..ew :S

Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Will take awhile to digest that post...:)
Looks like your doing fine but here are a few observations...
Not enough light ( is that one a heat lamp...? )
To much water and food ( do not give that 20-20-20 to your seedling )
Your loving it to death...:)

1.I'm not sure what a heat lamp is :(. I wll look into it but I don't want to spend to much more money (But I know what I put in now is what I will get back out later)
2.The fertilizer I dilute it a lot to about 1/4 of what they say or even a little less and only use it... or plan on using it every two weeks, or 3 or so waterings(or is it still to much)
3.I resprayed with neem oil again because I am quite worried. Then cleaned with cotton but some of it got stuck on the plant.... I resprayed to wet leaves and take off extra cotton with my hand to the best of my ability
**I am still very worries because I see white sparkly/glittery like dots on my leafs(top)...
Bottom of leafs are all quite clean looking (knock on wood :D) but one of them have two or three very small dot like indents :0 so I'm not sure what those are :S
ANDDD FINALLY.... THANKS! for being the first person to take the time to give me some feedback. Really makes me feel better knowing that I am on the right track..or so I hope. :)

Probably not Mites as you used a seed, more common with clones...
Stop watering and Neeming them and let it dry out a little...
Not sure on the soil you use as the link dose not work but if it's Home DePot it's probably Miracle Grow and has Nutes in it...

That soil has all the Nutes you will need for some time...
So no 20-20-20, Kind of like giving a T-Bone to a Toddler...
Think of the seed like an egg, all that is needed for the first stage of life is on board...
It's a case of "Less is More" remember we are growing a weed and they are suited for less then ideal conditions in nature. When there put into a soggy rich environments they do not do well and you also invite disease...
Two ways to tell if it needs watering...
Touch the top of the soil for a few seconds, if your finger has any moisture on it your good to go and do not need to water...
Weight of the pot, it will be noticeably light in weight when you need to water...
Your going to have to invest in lighting or it's all for not. In Veg T-8's will do the trick ( T-5's are better but more expensive ) but in Bloom you'll need a lot more power. I use 400w HPS in bloom and it's considered on the small side as most use a 1000w systems...
OK... You know where You Been, This is where You want to Go...
First two are at 3 weeks, next three are 10 weeks into bloom...

Wow are those your plants? They look beautifulllll (Y)
I'm tight on space :S and money but will look into the t-8s you are talking about
Thanks
-no one else seems to want to give feedback ;) lol
PS. There is only one plant - would I still need a 4ft t-8?
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Thanks...
The wait is killing me, it will take a full 14 weeks to finish out this Sativa...
Home Depot has 2' - 2 bulb T-8's @ $20ea but if you have the room 4' are the same price and give you room to spread out a little...
The bulbs you want are Cool White 6500K for Veg...
You can start with one then pick up another later on as funds become available and the plant needs more light...
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
The two bulbs are $20 each but what would I plug them into?
Would I have to buy something else? Sorry, I'm completely new to this.

The 2 bulb fixture is $20, bulbs sold separately at $5ea...
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
p2: I am not sure if it is the same type ZZ is talking about but I know there is a really inexpensive fixture at Home Depot that you can put a Y splitter in the socket and get two bulbs into the one fixture safely. :thumbsup:

Is that at home depot?
And I was just looking at 'her?' :P again and more worries.
The bottoms of the leafs look fine. But now there are some brown spots on my leafs 0.0
Heres what the leafs look like from top Minus the actual bugs you see here and a little less white:
Google Image Result for http://gorestep.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/1134Spidermite_speckling2.jpg
And the brown spots look sort of like this but I can say they are exatly like this:
Black spots on White Widow outdoor leaves
I'm scared HELP :(
I applyed neem oil to the seedling/plant twice (yesterday and the day before and have left the hotshot strip thing in the cabinet for the last two days)

Go to their website and look under "work lights" and you will find some Clamp Lights that run between $7-10. That is the type you can use the splitter with to get 2 CFL's in it for more lumens. ;) Just an inexpensive suggestion.

Oh alright thanks, I'll check it out.
Any info you can give me for my other 'crisis' ;)

You can buy big cfl lights from home depot, the lights you have i think are 13watt but 60 watt equivalent.
You can buy 42 watt cfl 150watt equivalent from home depot. Also you dont actually need a red and a blue light litterally. You need to look for the the light spectrum number on the box.... It will say something like 2700k or 5800k . This number tells which part of the light spectrum your bulb is in. A bulb somewhere around 2700k is a more red dominant bulb while the 5800k is more blue dominant colour. blue for veg, and red for flower.
I would suggest that you get a couple larger cfls if you want to keep area very small or get some t8 fixtures like suggested. The t8 fixtures will be usefull to you even if your setup grows to a larger one.... For clones,cloning more seedlings. Either way it is not a bad invesment. The lights you currently have will be of no use to you very soon...... unless u eat mushrooms.

Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Okay thanks Jgreen and everyone else. I'm going to visit homedepot soon after I do some more reserch about the info you gave me although i think it's pretty straight forward (Y)
And now the two small circle leafs at the bottom are so dry, one crack when I went to go look under it. Three of my big leafs have a few white spots on them and 4-6 new leafs are comming in, small but healthy looking and clean to me (Y) ...i hope.
Any info you can give me about why my leafs have whiteish spots around them.
I will try to get a hd camera from a friend to upload pics with.

Heres the things I was looking at......
Can someone confirm that they are good my seedling is about 1 and 1/2 weeks old and I plan to use this lighting for the rest of it's life. (right now it's the lighting on the plant that shown/mention in the very first post of this thread)
Fixture/Holder for the light:
Lithonia Lighting - 4' T8 2L Wraparound - 3348 2L 32W WRAP - Home Depot Canada
The Actual Light:
Philips - 32 Watt T8 48 Inch Cool White - 2 Pack - 211912 - Home Depot Canada
*But the lights I get would have to be the right size obviously, probably I will go with the 4' lights?
What do you think? I'm on a tight budget right now too...
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
I took into consideration your guys's information
Heres what I'v got setup now and how my plant is doing.....
(not soo good :[ ...) It has 'stunted growth and the leafs look this they have issues... I have stopped water to let the plant/soil dry out a bit because I watered it and it got droppy(but I poured out the access water from the bottom of the pot)
Any more advice suggestions? whats wrong with the plant :0?
Thanks =)(Y)
...More Pics too
**PS: The stem of the plant from the very bottom looked a little clearish green but I'm not sure if that was because maybe the soil wasn't covering it enough? anways I put more soil ontop of that part (but did NOT pat it down..left it loose)

Damn ZZ ur plants made me have an orgasm those look amazing!
Poker2 I would probly just pull that one and start over ur putting a lot of work in to a plant that will probably die or if it lives it will most likely stretch and then hermie on you.looks like bad genetics maybe. Sorry for ur luck but it happens sometimes

Would I have to thoroughly clean out my room then? or would a decent wipe down be alright? :)
And I should get rid of that soil and I should clean the bucket and use new soil right?
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Definitely want a good soil, fox farms is most recommended but on a budget its a bit expensive. Some people say that its real bad but I have grown pretty decent plants in the miracle-gro moisture control potting mix... and ya u always want ur area to be clean the chances of that plants problem going to ur next plant are that it probly won't happen but its up to u I guess but I think u just happened to plant a shitty seed...
I would definitely recommend that you get those T8s instead of cfl's

Yeah, I have these lights now
Lithonia Lighting - 24 In. Fluorescent Mini T5 Double Strip - MN S5 2 14 LP M6 - Home Depot Canada
(I cant find the pics I took of them - either I'll take more If you'd like or I try searching again for them to post up.. (with my setup))
I will definitely clean out my room properly and maybe let it air out for a day or so.
The seeds I bought from GTASEEDBANK.com :S not sure how they are
Guess I have to try and one or two andd see :) hopefully they are good.
(This is my first grow..and it failed LOL)
Two more things...
Should I introduce my new seedling to neem oil when it sprouts? If so how and how much?
Anddd when should I introduce fertilizer (20-20-20) to the plant? (after the 4or5 week period?)
This is the soil I am using right now:
Scotts - Scotts Premium Potting Mix - 28.3 Litre - 72935750 - Home Depot Canada
(it got left outside but it was sealed (opened but closed after)and in -15 degree weather) I bought it back inside today and seems okay
Oh and one more thing -> that pot in the picture is that a fine size to start with? or should I but the seed when Its ready to plant into a cup of soil first?
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
I like to use a cup first then transplant to its final home when it is about 1.5 times the size of the cup.
As for the seed bank I have no input for that I only plant seeds I acquire myself, too paranoid to order online lol.
That soil looks just fine, just be careful using nutrients with soil that already has fertilizer in it u don't want to love ur plants to death and make sure u dilute to around 1/4 of the instructions.
Just keep reading around the forums and make google ur best friend u can always find answers on there if u need help fast
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
I recommend Attitude seed bank. They treated me right.
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
I have had trouble with scotts before, I was also gonna say get the miracle grow potting mix if you cant find anything else. That can be found at home depot also.
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Yeah I will start off with eaither a cup or that peatmoss block thing =)
The soil -> So scotts isn't that good? Does miricale grow have all the ingredients/fertilizers/perlite already in it?
->I will look into that seed bank for the future seeds I might need to buy :S lol
Thanks
-
Criticize My First Ever Friend :) (Pics+very detailed)
Ya that miracle-gro that I mentioned is also available at walmart for like $5 u get an 8 quart bag
