Papaya, Cream Caramel, Arjan's Strawberry Haze, LSD, Bubble Cheese (CFL GROW)
Havent started a log for this grow but never too late. They are all at different points in flowering, some finishing in a week some two and one in three. Had some Ph problems and temp issues for a while but they look like there are going to turn out ok. Ive been using Canna Nutes and 500watts of CFLS, 2X250w in soil mixed with pertile. Took some nice pictures yesterday so thought i would share...LSD not currently pictures but the others are...enjoy.
For those who saw this on plant problems i have now invested in a hydroponic ph meter which set me back a bit but hopefully will help with my results next time !
[attachment=o260651]
Arjan's Strawberry Haze - Doesnt smell nice at the moment but hopefully will when dry
[attachment=o260652]
Papaya by Nirvana (swag) smells sweet and fruity although buds are quite airy
[attachment=o260653]
Bubble Cheese - Buds are small but rock hard
[attachment=o260654]
Cream Caramel - Deep musky smell and very sticky
Open up the pics in full, they are proper high res :rastasmoke:

yes the investment was made through which i discovered that my water ph is 7.9 from the tap. I think its supposed to be about 6.8 so its a ph of what it should be. I didnt think the ph of flush water mattered if it was plain tap water ? I bought sum up and down aswell which was leaking when i recieved it and irrated my skin but should i use it for the flush ? dont really like the look of it with the corrosive labels and health warnings on it...bit scary

Yes you do need to adjust the PH of your water during the flushing period.
A PH of 7.9 is quite high for tapwater, did you take the reading after the water had off gassed? My Ph drifts from around 7.2 to 6.8 depending on the time of year.
I only buy PH down, if I ever add too much, I just add water to raise the PH. Once you get used to mixing batches of water up, you can do it pretty much blindfolded.

do you mean gassed of by just left without a lid on ? In that case i hadnt but it had been sitting in the bottle for about 2 days. I checked online and the ph for my area is supposed to be between 7.9 and 8.1 so very hard water ! Next water i will adjust the ph, do you need to wear all the gas masks ns gloves nd stuff ? really dont like corrosive stuff. Cheers for the advice mr j :rasta:

Yeah, the PH can change a little over time. I get a .2 drop when I leave my water in a bucket for 24 hours.

I don't like using corrosive stuff either, I did use gloves at first but now I am just careful not to spill any and I always wash my hands straight after I have made a batch of water up.
What do you use to measure it out? I only need around 0.6ml to get 10L of water to 5.8, so I use 3ml plastic pipettes from the grow shop, they are cheap as fuck (about 20p) and last me about 6 months each. I also use these to measure out my nutes.

mostly phosphoric acid ---often used to clean concrete ,i buy mine at HOME DEPOT-----SLOWLY pour the PH down INTO 2 - 4 times the volume of distilled water .one quart becomes one gallon and is much less dangerous and also easier to measure .continue to avoid contact with skin anyway.

the PH up is most often used during mid to late flowering when many growers start increasing the PPM/EC of their flowering nutes. the acidic nature of most ferts causes the PH to drop to unacceptable levels that must be corrected to avoid lockout.

im using a 5ml syringe. lol i put a mill and a bit to 2 litres thinking ye that should do, ph of 2.8 !! i did it again and about 4 drops was enough for 2.3 litres of water and then added canna flush which took it down to 6.7 which i think is ok..have you used flush before ?

You shouldn't need to worry about ppm, seing as you are using one product line and hand watering. So long as you stick to the recommended dosages you'll be ok. I have a ppm meter, but only cos it was at a bargain price and I have only used it once.
BTW. I know that you don't have space for a seperate veg room. But I stumbled on an interesting thread when looking for ways to improve the speed of cloning. You can store clones (before you root them) in a moisture filled clippy bag in the fridge for months! This would mean you could take cuttings off your next set of plants and root them after you have harvested the plants you took the cuttings from, so you don't have to keep buying seeds.
:D

Sounds interesting, would give it a go as im planning on vegging my plants for longer next time around. Is there a link you could send me for more details ? or is it literally a zip bap, clipping and a wet tissue ?
Got some copy cat bubble bags coming tomorrow for my trim, might make some nice hash. You done any ice hash yet with your trim ? Last time i tried to make hash it was pretty shit. probably get about a gram or two from my trim but they cost 27 quid so kinda evens its self out a bit !

Not made any yet, I have thought about it, but atm I seperate any leaves covered in trichomes as I trim and smoke that to stop me attacking my buds too early.

a PPM/EC meter is a very useful tool for all growers that add nutes to the water to have .most growers who use one do so to keep their nute mix at a consistent concentration .also,by measuring runoff from the pot, they are able to determine how the nutes are interacting within the medium they are using . recommended dosages from the label are just general guidelines and will probably do just fine,but Cannabis plants have a wide range of nute requirements which very not only by variety/pheno but is also affected by things like light levels, temps,and stress. a PPM/EC meter will help you to "tweak" the plants food to achieve maximum health and yield.they are also inexpensive .

I have done this twice with great success, Sometimes the cuttings can get a little ratty after a while, but they still root!

Smoking trim ! Your a nutter phatjay haha. Got my bags today, the smallest micron bag had a hole in it so im getting a replacement. Probably looking forward to making the hash more than smoking the bud..seen the videos on youtube and now i wana do it myself !

Sounds interesting. Not too sure if i am in great need of one but ill put it on my list of stuff to buy but i want to get a new reflector first. I suppose they are good for diagnosing nute deficiencys..clever piece of kit ! You'll be glad to hear that my ph meter has been working wonders aswell.

Nice to see some evidence of the technique. How long did you refrigerate for before rooting ? and how long do you rekon they could last in the fridge before not rooting ?
4 out of the 8 girls are going to be stress ripening tomorrow. Got my water in the fridge which has been adjusted to 6.7 ph :D Going to give it to them and then put a box over them or a black bin bag to stop the light getting in from the other four. Worked well on my other grow so figured it should so the same with this one. Only difference this time is that im leaving them in darkness for 60 hours instead of the 36 hours. This being because there are only a few amber trichomes on each of the plants and i rekon after the 60 hours the ratio will be perfect.
The other four still growing will be 3 of the papayas and the lsd. I think the lsd is supposed to take a bit longer to mature, i rekon she'll be done in a week on wednesday (10 weeks of flower). And i rekon the remaining papayas will be another week plus stress ripening. They all seem to be at different stages but are one of the nicer smelling strains.
Ill upload a couple piccys tomorrow of me stressing out the ladies :rastasmoke:

Cream caramel, bubble cheese, strawberry haze and a papaya all stressing out together in the box.
Feeling confident about my next grow..been quite naive to how much ph actually affects plant growth, nutrient uptake, even the ph in my area shocked me how high it was...good things to happen in the future with me and my ph pen ! ! :rastasmoke:

i would also choose a reflector first. a ppm meter is not needed for a soil grow but good lighting is a must have. glad to hear your PH pen is helping----which one did you get ? i am now using a Milwaukee PH600.

I saw similair ones to that on ebay but they werent branded and just looked like knock off 'made in china' bits of kit which are never good. Got this
Essentials pH Pen / Meter Hydroponics - Free Delivery on eBay (end time 01-Jan-11 15:42:09 GMT)
Set me back a little £35 which is about $55. I think its pretty good, completely water proof, beeps nd stuff and feels like a qualitiy build.
Agree with the reflector...its no1 on my shopping list, closley followed by a replacement red bulb and another veg bulb. C

That's a good price for the spec. A lot of the cheaper ones are not accurate to within .1 (usually .2 or .3). Just one point though, that one is not waterproof, just splashproof.

I am very curious what you found after the 60 hours and the cold drink. I am growing a strong sativa/indica mix and see that catching the trichomes at the 30-50% mark as essential in the overall success of this grow.

hey charbud did the cold water cause the coloring on the leaves, or did that just happen during flowering?

Will give the clone thing a go with the next set of girls. Even if it doesnt work out it doesnt but if it does cheers phatjay !
My trims drying off atm. Going to make the hash on the 28th so look out for piccys nd the final product ! Half of the girls are drying now, half are dry, have tried all of them but they havent been cured so their final taste and flavour hasnt come out completely..so smoke reports later..

Its a technique i saw on a thread. By stressing your plants the thc production or potency increases for a short period i think. I take into account the trichome development also. When i see about 5 % ambers trichomes ill stress ripen them for the 2 and a half days. I did it with my previous grow and the bud was knocking guys out so i am going to continue with it ! Not the best explanation but bit of googling and you might learn a bit more but for me it just works !

Hi drudown, the colour of the leaves was there during flowering. I didnt know that the bubble cheese would go purple but it did and i agree its very pretty ! Wish the yield was a bit better of her though.
Will upload some more pics of the girls after christmas along with close ups and my hash nd all that stuff. Hope everyone has a good christmas :rastasmoke: C
