Are the roots slimey at all?? If not it is most likely nute stain. I know you lis FF as nutes but what all do you have in your mix?? I use GH line and as soon as I add Florishious Plus it does the same thing. If it is stained a touch of H2O2 will clean them right up but dont overdo as H2O2 can also kill to much beneficial bateria also

Tinytoon I am usingthe fox farm schedule here http://www.foxfarmfertilizer.com/Fox...l-Schedule.pdf
I did add H2O2 at the rate of 3% 5 oz to my 11 gal res today the roots are white again so I think it did the trick. How will I know if I Killed too much benefical bacteria? Thanks for your input on this problem. PS are you doing aro? I have another ? this is my first try at aro so am really green at this.
but the roots are all ready at the water level is it ok for them to be in the water? Thanks again.

Since you didnt use a shitload of H2O2 you should be fine with bacteria. As for the aro I'm sorry I have never done that. I know I have seen peeps talk about it but cant remember who it was.

Need help not sure what is happening
I do aero and aero/fog, with great results.
As Tiny pointed out, it could be just stained from nutes or additives.
I would not use H2O2, hydrogen peroxide, not because of "beneifcal bacteria", which is not needed in aero or aero/fog but because it is not compatible with some nutrient lines.
Look for a product that is chloramine based, it has all the pathogen killing power of hydrogen peroxide, but is much safer for the plant and won't screw with the nutrients.
Dutch Master's product called "Zone" is such a product.

I like Sm90 at 5 mil per gallon I swear by the stuff', hydrofungicide is also supposed to be amazing, I have not used it yet, but will be doing so the next round. was this your first time adding nutrients and the roots turned that color, or had you been adding nutrients, but then the color just developed?

started when I added nuts

Need help not sure what is happening
Hey alfonso2002,
If that's the case, happened with the start of nutes, it is very possible that you hurt the roots with too much nutrient.
Aeroponics only requires abt 40% of the nutes mfg's recomended amount. And if at all possible I would start out at abt 20% concentration. ie: use the amount of nutrient you would for 1 gallon of water, but add 5 gallons of water instead.
Just looked over your trouble form again, and realized you have a TDS meter. 900PPM is too high, not the worst I've seen someone try but it's too high.
Probably abt 600PPM is the most you'll ever need and a starting point would be 300-400PPM.
The only other thing I noticed was your PH is just a little hi, shoot for 5.5 or so.
Good luck, keep us posted.

How is your ph changing, is it going up, down, staying the same?
Also, take a bright flashlight and hold it up against your reservoir and what your plants are contained in. Do you see any light coming through that way? If so, that light going through could be causing algae to grow on your roots and inside your reservoir/buckets which is A HUUUGE problem. Might explain why it started when you just added the nutes to it.

Ph steady at 5.5 5.6 no light it seems all good for now again

Tiny voted me in as the ph king here. Get the ph up to 5.8 ,your ph is on the edge of not giving you optimal nute uptake. No worry 5.5 is safe but is marginally safe . Try and maintain it around 5.8. Hey Tiny thanks for the thumbs up last thread bro:thumbsup:

Avon he is doing Aero so his PH range is different from what we do. His best advice is to hang with what Oldmac has suggested as that is his gig.

Ok Tiny didn't realize ph could and should vary from system to system. I quasi I better take the back seat from here on out until I gain some more wisdom from you Tiny. Hey Tiny where is that new avatar you been talking about? Hope Marty is ok. Got me a bit freaked out.

One thing I know for sure is that the "tub" your using does let light through to the roots which is causing your algae growth on your roots.
Bag up the tub with a thick black plastic bag and your brown roots problem will go away.

Drudown this is an aro setup

Hey drudown11,
According to the chart 5.5ph hits everything, plus you would expect the Ph to raise from there, hoping for 5.8+ on runoff.
alfonso2002,
What you doing to your plants? It looks to be more like spider mite damage then nutrient problem. I'm not sure from just looking.

OldMac I dont know what to think about this have never had spider mites but will take a good look at them in the am I guess right about now LOL This is my first aro grow so having a few problems I ave the ppm at 600-700 Added a little cal mag and super thrive. PH5.5 it dont rise any . I was using fox farm grow big 3-2-6 just started Tiger Bloom (2-8-4). have never had this in soil before.

how much of the recommended nutes are you using...you should only be using about 1/4 strength.

Need help not sure what is happening
Thanks for your input K1ng87 I have the fox farm feeding schedule and it wants you to have 1100-1300 ppm I have it at 600-700ppm. I am thinking it was a cal mag dif. because I did and a dose of it and things are looking better. the leaves that were bad did not recover but no more are looking bad. thanks again

Hey alfonso2002,
Sorry I did not respond to you earlier....I guess I lost the thread for awhile.
Or I've been lost in the eggnog for many days.:D
I'm not sure what's in Fox Farm nutes, so I'm not sure what to tell you about those additives. I use DutchMasters gold, so I don't need to add cal/mag since there is plenty in it. As for SuperThrive, save your money you don't need that stuff, the plant will make all the hormones and vitamins it needs.
As to TigerBloom or GrowBig, I really am clueless but I can tell you that in aero there is nothing between your roots and your nutrients. Whatever you use is going directly to the plant so things do happen faster (like over fert etc) and will show signs sooner.
I just checked the DM site and for that line of nutes they clearly say 5.5ph for aero, you should see what FF says for thier product. Also see what they say is in it and why they recommend the additives. It seems to me pretty much everything you need to grow a plant should be in the nutes.
Could you give me some idea of what aero system you are using?
Brand or DIY system, etc. Partly curiosity on my part but also for me to get a feeling of how your system works.

It is a do it yourself system 20X30 inch tub with a one spray bar with 6 360degree sprayers 10 gal in the res 260 GPH pond pump feeding the sprayers 2 air pucks and a pump to move water in the tub 10 3" net pots. P.S. I think I got things back on track right now but like you say things can go bad real quick. thanks for your intrest.
