Seeking Weezard and other equator growers.
As has been mentioned now and then, I have this land race Thai, Laotian. Done a lot of research. Very Northern aspect of Laos is it's home ground, very acidic soil (3-5), huge rainfall stats. Is in OF, properly pH'd influx water. Plant is very healthy.
I am willing to purchase another power supply to make this plant flower properly. It currently is living in 18/6. Put in 12/12 and it gets flowers at each petiole, but will not bud out. I have been informed that I need to get to 13/11 and very gradually move down to 12/12.
1. What about my change from 18/6 to 13/11. Should that be gradual or just one fast shift? It clones very easily, but not been able to make her bud out in flower after 10 weeks at 12/12.
2. How gradual of change from 13 to 12 hours in minutes per day?
TIA

Or do I drop down fast to 12, then work up to 13, let simmer for awhile and then drop back down??????

I wish I could help more,... I know I got your attention to the lower light cycles in one of my posts. :o
Seems like you've boned up on the soil conditions locally for the strain,.... I can't find it now, but I have found a site online that lets you put in latitude, and calculates the sunrise to sunset cycle thru out the year. I was a bit :glugglug: at the time, so you'll have to forgive my memory, but I was looking for the cycle when my outdoor plants kicked to flower here in Co at the time.... that might help refine the search don't know :glugglug: ;)
Anyway, I Digress, try and find the annual light cycle for it's native habitat, and try to emulate it. If you've got potential funds for the separate light source/cycle it should work even without creating a micro climate for that strain, but if all else fails, do a full on micro climate grow. Temps/humidity also specific to the strain.....
just my :twocents:
Also,... this one was posted by Kitsune.

It's MY understanding that many "land races" wont actually "bud" Tho given the fact that the picture shows a solid stretch of JUST flowers, which are all covered in THC containing trichomes, Isn't that actually what you want to smoke? :wtf:

If I could get that, I would be getting what was wrapped on the sticks back in the 70's.
Weezard and I had discussed this before, not at length. I am open to any and all ideas how to go about the change. The timer I bought yesterday will give me 15 minute increments.
I think the most important thing at this point is to get to 13 hours as soon as I can work down slowly and stop for a month or so, or even go up to 14 and gradually reduce to 12.
Will 'refind' the lat&long to get exact numbers.

Well 'Wonder, you better start growing some poppies right away, you are going to need to make some opium for the water cure. Thai sticks are not just good weed but requires a great dry and opium water cure. :D
That's what the Thai's used/use to produce that great taste and smooth smoke (unless you take way too big of hit's off the bong).

nothing in this world, better than a Thai weed 'sherman'.....the secret is in the paper

I've always wondered, but is it urban legend? Where's the proof? :wtf:
Not that I'm doubting you OM (lord knows there are many out there that add to their finished product to increase effect, every tobacco company comes to mind! ;) )
The point of "Washougal's" grow is to prove/get the great weed. :hippy: (At least that is my take on it)

I have a little experience with Southeast Asian strains. We have no problem getting them to bud in Hawaii on our natural photoperiod.
I would start with 12/12 for three weeks. After that, every day I would knock off two minutes of light. By the time she is ready to harvest, she will be getting about 9 hours of light per day.
In my experience, these strains need to be very gently shocked to go into bud. Too hard, you get scragily bud. Not enough...even scraglier bud.
That's my 2 cents....

Howzit Wash?
I got here just in time to say, yeah that!
Now we both know.

Wow, a couple minutes a day. Impossible on today's timers. Best I can get here is 15 minute increment timers that will handle the lighting load.
Anyone got advice on a timer that will handle 15 amps and be that adjustable?
Weez, well what the heck, you got the idea going.
OR, do you think 15 min increments once a week will cut the mustard or grow the bud?

Well, won't go that route, no matter how much I wish it to be perfect. I do remember being able to choose if it was opium cured or was not....I never went for the opium cured, was afraid of getting addicted and I was just a kid then. Didn't know squat.

I did?!
Rutro!
I think my mind is going, Dave.
I can feel it.
I'm, I'm,....
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do.
I'm half crazy...

Seriously, I'm loathe to offer advice that is not based on my personal knowledge.
I'm only "wise" if you ask the right questions.
Nevah grew landrace Thai, myself and I've only lived Hawaii fo' 6 or 7 years.
I'm a relative newbie and must defer to experience.
Trust me, you are in good hands here with O.H.

Disclaimer... I have never grown a plant indoors start to finish.
Anytime I see indoor growing, I say nothing, because I know nothing. There are many far more experienced growers here.
The only reason I answered was I saw the question sit for awhile. And I am familiar with those strains. All grown outdoors.
My answer to your question was based on daylight times here, and how each day in late September we get about 2 minutes less light each day. Give or take.
All that said, if your timer gives you 15 minute intervals, start with 12/12 and take 15 minutes off every week....better yet every 8 days.
Will it work?...honestly...the hell if I know.
If I had to bet, I think it would.
Seeking Weezard and other equator growers.
AH....I do appreciate your candid and honest approach. I am not well versed in outdoor or hydo and usually keep my fingers shut in those areas or advise someone who does know, we have a pretty well balanced bunch of growers here, with many different specialties.....SO no worries...Okay?
I still have the issue of getting from 18/6 to 13/11, which is the light schedule for the lat and long of the native area on June 21......One big jump or ease things with the 15 minute changes weekly? My gut feeling is do the slow change from the very beginning......what do you folks think?
Still have to make the grow area, I have a mess of stuff that needs to be stored elsewhere and re-arranging to get done, and with my physical defects it takes a while to do that kind of stuff. I can do a temp with that heavy black/white plastic, but I really am in no rush.
