hydro or soil? Best yeilding?

I am building my growroom now and have started with the lights "4-1000W digital dimmable ballasts and 8" vented hoods" as my first purchase. The problem I am having now is deciding which to go with when it comes to soil or aeroponics. I recently watched the See More Buds DVD and was really impressed with the results he got. So my question is what would produce more the soil or the aeroponics system? I am willing to spend the money on the aeroponics if it will produce more yeild. FEED BACK PLEASE ASAP:wtf:

I think generally speaking soil is slower and easier, and hydro/aero is faster and harder..

I think just about the fastest you could get to a healthy harvest would be aeroponics with 24hr veg and 12/12 hps flower some people do 13/11.. but It seems like no one knows if that's worth it for certain or not :P

one thing to consider is, It's alot easier to make a dirt garden bigger, just get bigger pots... aero is a little more difficult once the plants are established.

I'll be growing aero when I get a room up and running, I like the idea of being in absolute complete control of what's going into the plants.. and while soil is fine, It's harder to keep track of just what is going into your lungs :)

Soil is slower.... how much slower? I don't know.
I can tell you aeroponics is the the most dangerous and unforgiving. Soil is more nature's way and it takes a little longer. In aeroponics you can look at your garden before you go to bed and see everything is just fine, and the following morning you could walk in there and its pretty well all dead. A pump didn't work or an electrical connection didn't work. Maybe the reservoir had a leak, and it drained out. In any case its dead. Start over, and you don't collect $200. In soil, if you go to bed one night and everything is great, and 3 days later you look in again, you might say, hmm, maybe it needs a bit of water...... I'm somewhere in between. I grow with coco coir. Its almost like soil, only I am in charge of any nutrients they need. Very simple, little can go wrong.

you could try other hydro options too if you haven't done any yet.. Eb and flow is a cool one.. I forget what the name of the method is, but my plants will sit on a float in a tub of nutrient water with bubblers in it.. The media they're surrounded with acts as a fake soil sort of.. and holds in the nutes :)

ghetto version of that would be.. fish aquarium, styrofoam board that fits in aquarium laying flat, roughly one inch in from all sides.. with hole cut holes for net pots.. as the plants use up water/nutes, the float sinks with it.. Only big catch with this method is the concentration of the nutes constantly fluxuating as the plants suck down the water..

My hydro growbud claims he gets up to 4 times the yield using hydro over soil, but he uses co2 also, and that adds to the yield as well, so I don't know....soil has always been easier for me, but he keeps trying to re-convert me. He does both DWC and soil, BTW! So you have to respect his opinion...I don't worry about yield, so I stick to the "EZ" way 4 me...dirt. Either way, with that much light, you'll have some pretty good yields, I would think.

Man, I would go with soil all the way to start. It's easier and with that lighting, you should be able to get a darn good yield. Plus, I agree with a previous post, growing in soil is more natural.

That being said, you've got to make sure the soil you use has quality organic matter (that holds all micro and macro nutes) and microbes (symbiotic bacteria and myccorhizae). When grown right with your lighting and a quality soil medium, imo your going to produce higher quality buds. Maybe not quite as much, but higher quality. IMO, its tough to imitate the natural biology that takes place in fertile soil and provide everything plants could use to maximize their physiological potential.

And then again, when you put your mind to it, your gonna produce quality buds either way.

I plan on the coco if i do soil and I will be using the advanced nutes with voodoo juice and growth excel to amp things up. I am thinging 5gal bags and was thinking 6 plants per light with co2. What could I expect per plant as far as yield goes? Using 24hr for veg with t12's and 12/12 with the hps for flower for a constant harvest putting 3 1000w's in one room and 3 1000's in another room and a room for veg and cloning.

4 - 1000 Watt lights for a medical grow? Sounds commercial to me.

I counted 6x 1000... x 6 plants / light + veg/clone room. I'm going to have to agree with WW. A 36 plant perpetual grow is not for personal use...

Yeah, OM. Could be. Just pisses me off when folks come here to try to make money off of the knowledge that we give for free. Learn it the hard way like we used to have to do when we weren't 'legal'.

I would like to point out to you that there are more states that DON'T have medical mj then ones that do.

I live in a state that does not recognize the medical use of mj, that does not mean that I can't believe in it's use. I've been providing medicine, thru a cancer group for almost 25 years and thru a hospice group for over 20 years.(It's unfortunate that I see many patients from the first group in that second group) I also provide plant starts to some other groups in nearby towns for them to grow out medicine. All of this medicine I provide for free; to try and help sick and/or dying people.

I'll give anybody the benifit of doubt about thier grow, if they seem reasonable. But if it sounds like a young punk with a pipe dream of cash cropping I'll probably just not respond. Or toss them a tid bit then send them to study....which usually is too much work for them.

BTW, most of the people with a pipe dream haven't got a clue how much work is really involved in trying to build, maintain and grow a commercial operation.
