Advice needed please possibly plant problem.
I used to grow last year and i used rockwool and had no problems for a few grows.
I've just started a grow and i thought i'd give cocoponics a go..I just noticed one of my plants
has a lightening green band on one of the lower leaves and the bottom set of leaves on most of
the plants have twisted quite bad!!!
I think i've overferted them as i've been given them weal nutes every feed once a day. i would like
your opinion please so i can nip this problem in the bud..otherwise these plants look very healthy.
Plants are 3 weeks old from germination under 400w hps which is about 1m above them.
they are in 6.5 litre pots and i'm using cana nutes given in a water with a ph 5.2-5.8.
The grow room is at between 74f lights on and 60f lights off with a humidity of around 50.
thanks for your time.
Any ideas please?
forgot to say strain is magic bud.

IMO their over nuted and overwatered, it also looks like algae is growing in the pots.

It's quite possible i've overferted them but i thought you couldn't overwater when you grown in coco? well i'm probably the first one ever.
Is algae growing on top of the pots a bad thing? any idea how i cure it? will covering the top of the pots over stop it growing?
Thanks for your reply mate.
time for a flush then i think..

Sounds like you guys got it set...
Yes the algae is an indication of over watering...
Scrape the very top layer of CoCo off, replace with new CoCo...
Cover the CoCo with plastic to pervert algae growth...

I'm not sure bout the not poss to overwater w/ coco thoughts, I've never used it. But puffy droopy leaves are usually a sure sign of over watering.
NO! Don't cover the tops of the pots! The lack of light will kill the algae but then that warm, damp, dark enviornment will grow mildew.
Knowing what I know about coco, which isn't much, I'd flush out the nutes with plain water (no nutes) thats been adjusted to a 6 pH then let it dry out completely before the next watering, which prob wont be long cause that coco should dry quickly.
Letting it dry will start a wet/dry cycle and get the roots to search for water and make a large root system, plus letting it dry out on top will kill off any algae thats there.

You right, it is very hard to overwater using coco, it is one of the great things about growing in it.

Covering the pots will stop the algae growing. I had algae on my 1st grow and I made covers for the pots.
Here's a link to some pics of the covers I made, with cardboard and some tin foil (it would be better to use mylar if you have it as tin foil can create heat - although I had no issues with this).

Algae: Once the canopy gets bigger the tops of the pots will be covered by it so the threat of algae is reduced drastically. Flush and start again.
PH: You don't really want PH to drop below 5.5 and not over 6.5
Temps: 74f isn't to awful bad with lights, I would go a touch warmer. 60f lights off, BRRRR!!! Dont want temps to go below 65f.
400w HPS: If I remember correctly 1m is roughly 3ft. Light is way to high, you could drop that height by half. Place your hand on top of plant and see how warm it gets.
Humidity: 50% is good for now but will need to drop to about 35% towards end.
and yes they are overwatered. Other than that looks great!

Once a Pervert, always a Pervert..."-)
Dame Spell Check...
Panda Plastic makes covers or you can make your own...

Thanks guys loads of good advice there...i'll flush them tomorrow and start again. that sorts them out.
Gonna seem strange pouring gallons of water into a already overwatered plant but needs must..
thanks again i'll let you know how it goes.

Ok just a little update.
Flushed all the plants. They are in 6.5 litres pots so i flushed through
with 13 litres of water. I ph corrected the last 5 litres.
I mixed up the top of the pops and put fresh coco to get rid of the
algae. And i've moved the light closer, now lets see what happens.
Just a few questions. When do i give them nutes again and how much.
I'm using cana nutes and they recommend using 1-2 ml per litre. i've been using 1ml per litre.. shall i cut this down and start them slowly up again.
Thanks again.

i second this statement. coco is ph nuetral so your ph is lower than it needs to be. rockwool shifts more than coco from what i understand. water less and fix your ph. algae likes warmth, wetness, and light take out one or two elements and no more algae.

That yellowing in the center is a sure-fire magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is the core element for creating chlorophyll, with many nitrogen chains attached to it to create a chloroplast. With a lockout or lack of magnesium, you don't have that core piece needed for the nitrogen to attach to, and thus chlorophyll is produced in poor amounts in fresh growth.
