I am a first time grower this season and have a question about the budding process. I understand that your plants will begin to bud when there is a 12/12 ratio for light to darkness. Does this occur naturaly since i am not growing indoors and controlling the light intake? I appreciate anyones help.
If your growing outdoors they will bud when the days start to shorten. Your right; mother nature will do the job outdoors. They will start to bud around 1st of August.
If you make your plants mveable you canput them on 12-12 cycle when ever you feel there mature enough and big enough for you.Thats why i say make them easy to move you can just put them somewhere theres total darkness for 12 hours.That way you can flower when your ready.Peace and keep on growing. :D
That would be a pretty hard job every day for 60-70 days and on time .

I have decided once they are 1/3 of the total height i want them to be
( i read on here they will grow 2/3 there size once they begin to flower) I am going to move them into my garage and put them under a floro to put them on 12/12.
Which brings me to my next question. How many watts should the floro be, and where can i order one online (are the ones for reptiles tanks floro's?)
I am under the impression the plants do not show their sex until the 12/12 cycle is enstated. Is this correct? If so how approximately how long should it take, from once there on the 12/12, before I should be able to tell?
I appreciate everyone who replied and hope you can help me with the questions.

Depends on the strain you have some show sex within first 4 to 6 weeks of veg some a couple weeks of flowering.Either have a good set of eyes or get a magnifying glass so you can see sex.
Basically I should be looking for little balls on the end of the leaves, correct?
You are obvoisly very new to this so why don,t you get yourself a book?
you can get all you want on Amazon on growing.
People are answering the same very basic questions day in day out because people can,t be botherd to read a bit for themselves.
If you get a basic grow guide it will cost you about £8 and save you a lot more, it will show you how to germinate a seed right through to harvest.
Then if you have any questions that you are a bit confused about then ask on here.

My last post was cut short so here,s the rest.
You can get flouros in any half decent electrical hardwear shop. If you are flowering with these then get about 300watts of lights. Cool and warm mixed.
And if you leave em outside then Garden King you won,t see flowers in the middle of summer more like early sept.
I agree with disco, People ask same questions about same subject. You have to understand people get tired of repeating themselves(even more so re-typing). Since your new to growing I recomment the book easy "MJ" gardening by ed rosenthal, its like $15.00 us money, the time you save ALONE is worth triple that. I bought mine at Barnes and noble along with numerous other books, borders also has books on the subject.
It will tell you all about fertilizers, ph balancing, hydro growing, light and space requirements, and even sugggestions on how to build it. of course if you don't want to spend the money on book, with the right keywords into a search you can find good information, then bookmark them. This is what I did, it took lot of my spare time but got straight answers to questions that people on here had no idea about.
answer to your questions is you can grow faster if you grow inside cause you control the environment, your actually tricking the plant about how much light is being given. if you grow outdoors you are pretty much at mother natures mercy.(unless you want to physically move all plants to a shade for part of the time.(I wouldn't considering the activity required at this spot)
and yes flowers of males look like "porn-brokers balls" hanging from the stem of the plant. Just one male can destroy a garden(if your growing a commercial weed won't matter much,but even so can help)
