I thought I had joined this group a while back did not know it was a new group. but joined up know.
Well originally the patients group was just a mailing list that I wanted to put together to help keep patients up to date on issues, and if we need to voice our opinion on something we could stand united.
I just made this group on cann.com 2 days ago, so folks could get together here on this site.
Now on meetup there are two groups, NM Medical Cannabis Meetup Group which has 68 members, as is ran by Mia.
I think this would be a good group for everyone to join who is a current MJ patient, Mia seems nice, everyone can post new ideas there as well.
There is also a New Mexico Medical Cannabis Patients Group, which was started by Paul, but I have tried contacting him several times and I have heard from Mia that the group is now defunct as Paul has not been taking care of things. If you guys know Paul see if he can pass his info over to Mia so we can get that group going, I know it costs monthly to have a meetup site, so maybe Paul just stopped paying his dues, Im not sure about that whole thing.
I thought the patients mailing list was a good idea, as if someone running the meetup site decides they no longer want to pay every month, then it becomes defunct, with email, there is no charge for us patients to stay in contact.
Since Pauls group is defunct, I was thinking about creating new group called the New Mexico Medical Marijuana Patients Group, I decided to change it NMMPG so it is not confused with the NMMCPG( New Mexico Medical Cannabis Producers Guild, which was the same acronym used for Pauls group, kinda confusing.) But I don't want to put money into it if people arn't going to be interested in joining and participating.

As always Mimbres your thoughts are trying to help the patients in this program ps Now if only the patients would take that help. we do need a place that only the patients would have assess to it I think with this group you have to apply or be invited Right?

Ok guys we need to stand strong for our program, if everyone is vocal about wanting to keep the program if it comes on the chopping block.
WE ALL NEED TO BE UNITED.
Yea I think Martinez has said WE so we have to tell her how we feel about mmcp and have her listen and we can all be happy. But as it stands now all of us in the program stand alone.
The medical marijuana program is a lot like voting, if only a couple people participate then nothing changes.
Strength in numbers, or divide and conquer.
Exactly, deserthealer. Now is the time to DIG IN and prep for >whatever< the future brings, not a time to predict and perpetuate a message of gloom and doom.
NM is STILL a MMJ state and you are fortunate that your program has been ran so tightly to date. While such exclusiveness makes the numbers in the program small, those who are in the program have a TRUE need. When they start trying to fuck with folks in wheelchairs and grasping canes and walkers I believe wholeheartedly that the PEOPLE of New mexico will stand behind the program/patients/and doctors who have been involved rather than listen to the tea party-type rantings of some whack job from the right.
Right now the job of EACH patient should be to do what they can to connect with other (like-minded) patients/people. >>IF<< something truely insane does happen...you will CERTAINLY want to know these folks and be able to call/rely on each other for support/meds/genetics. In addition,if you have people in your lives you can truly TRUST who know what you do and how this medicine is helping you i suggest you start to make provision/suggestion that would allow you to MOVE your garden rather than destroy it should something weird go down/etc. (A good Scout is ALWAYS Prepared, remember?)
IMO< now is NOT the time to hide in fear unless you are scamming the system and have something TO fear....

I have three big qualms, outdoor harvests having to last a whole year, and I think patients should be able to give their excess harvest to other patients.Although that does cause a lot more issues when it comes to testing if the patients are giving it back and forth to each other.
Maybe more mature plants allowed, and bump the 6 ounces up to 12 ounces.
what do you guys think?

Just read this, makes good sense.
. Change the plant definition so "Mature" means in flower and that patients can veg plants up to any size to improve the yields and not worry about heights.
. Patients to be allowed up to 24 ounces so that seasonal outdoor patient growers can harvest and keep enough medicine for a year
. Transfers of medicine between patients and to producers so that patients can help patients with excess medicine and so that producers can give away (not sell) excess grow to indigent patients
. Unlimited seeds for patients from producers
that sounds better. I think they are changing some of that wording right now.

Not right now I dont know what they are changing now but that plant count makes no sense to me 12 "seedlings"???? only 4 mature don't make that much sense.

MV I gotta say 12 oz is not that much, maybe its a start, but in the future they are going to be like, last time it was 12 oz, now its a pound. I think 1 pound for each patient is a good place to start. all this OZ thing is a waste, everyone knows 1 pound will last and to a chronosuir, curing buds for a better medical value takes sometimes up to 6 months, how are you going to have 6 months of herb stored in a curing process. this is a big thing curing adds flavor which is a big medicinal value. curring 6 or 12 oz for 4 months well what are you going to medicate with if your buds are in curring?
I say scratch the oz debate and move to 1 pound, this gives the average patent the ability to grow as a grower and not rely on the states dispensaries. in the future 2 pounds would not be that hard to debate, I believe each patient should have a 1 or 2 pound limit to have on them at all times, even if traveling for Thanksgiving or something. who is to say your not going to have pain or need to medicate, Oz is like saying on joint to some. I think they need to open their eyes the street stoner's smoke more than 6 OZ and their not usually medicating their simply social medicating (which should be legal too but one thing at a time).
Yes I agree 12 ounces is two small now(I initially thought 12 would be good.)
On the petition I sent out, and asked patients to send, it asked for 24oz(1.5lbs).

Yeah, I don't think sending Martinez letters is going to help anything(and I don't really see the point as she isn't even in office yet)for someone like martinez we would probably need a rally downtown with news coverage.
Its the DOH that was asking for feedback before Dec1st, and thats who I was asking folks to contact.

As for the letters,.. well, It is nice to know what we will be facing and maybe by some slim stroke of chance she "might" get her head out of the sand and realize the importance of this program. Its ok, im a little :stoned:sometimes myself, although it would help if I were to make things a little more specific, & better organized.
I really agree with you as well on Martinez talking about shutting down the program as being more of a political tactic(that hopefully wont ever come to fruit).
And after thinking about it for a second, I think sending martinez a letter probably does more good than not saying anything, although when someone is antipot, there generally is no reasoning with them.(if you know what i mean)
They won't change there mind no matter how many facts you lay on the table, but hopefully there is still a heart in some of these politicans, and after hearing from patients, they will decide not to take away a sick persons medicine
I will camp out on her door step if it comes to that. lol, In most of my experiences with people that have a strong reserve for these medical programs or marijuana itself tend to let those ideals go once they see the patient in person. It is hard to look into someoneâ??s eye and denie them the only thing that helps keep them alive or functioning with any quality of life.

As I beat my drum the last few times we needed political influence the people you want to be writing to are your state senators and local congressmen.
THEY are the ones that will want/need your vote next time around.
remember the sales tax proposal..killed, by a huge margin..Richardson had nothing to do with it. A senator proposed it..and the state senate killed it.
It was snuckered in with a bunch of other tax increases..that's a common political move to get a specific agenda pushed thru.

What I suspect will happen is that the new health secretary will have the application fee raised to 10k (or more)..that would effectively prevent most producers from taking a shot at getting a license.
I don't think the new governor will be able to slash and burn the program, especially in light of the recent passage in Arizona. of course the new DEA head and her will be circling the wagons to keep the enforcement budget in place.
Current producers will either get on the stick and really start _providing_ product, or they are going to have to start really paying out the nose..since the flat fee is in my view a countering move to assumed diversion in the program. I fully supported a tax on gross sales to support program administrata, but I suspect the feeling in Satefe is that the current producers are under reporting everything from sales to amounts produced. No way the state can oversee this type of business without a huge budget.
back to the point...work from the bottom, with your representatives who want to stay in office..it's their vote we need to have in our favor. I somehow suspect the new governor won't blink an eye if the 2000+ patients in the program write letters..but if the 2000 patients influence their local reps..she'll never get the support she needs to get a change of the law accomplished.
This is why the balance of power in congress is so much news..NOTHING gets passed if those in the majority vote position don't want it, or can't get something of value in exchange.

hey xnsoder, glad you came back over to the patients group. I have been super busy of late(as I am sure most of you are with the holidays), I was hoping you could help me get things more organized within the group as you have already been an activist for a long time.
I personally want to thank everyone who helped send feedback this last round. Hopefully our voices were heard and some positive changes will occur.

hey i am truely interested in joining a group or starting one. I am in Albuquerque and am very intersted and willing to do what i can to help. I am currently the Chairman for the Comity to Legalize Marijuana through NORML. I am a personal growers license holder and i really want to help people in any way i can. i got many good Medicinal strains available to me and would love to help people. PLEASE help me to do so.
