Went to a Naturepath....

I went to a Naturepath to get my reccomendation and after that went by a Tacoma Club and had no problems. Friday I went to a different club and still haven't been approved, they said he did things wrong. So here is what I got...

I got a presription sized paper that is legal prescription paper with his name and address on top all printed, My name and address and in the RX section he wrote "In this physicians medical opinion this patiant will benifit from the use of Medical Marijuana"

He told me to keep that on me and then he gave me a full size sheet that is kind of gray and has the Documentation which this form I had seen before that he told me to keep in my room...

The second club I went to told me it was illegal for him to use the precription paper and that I had to carry the big sheet around which I told her I felt I could bring it to get confirmed but that it needs to stay in my room. She says the prescription paper will get me in jail?????

The signed, dated authorization form from the doctor who authorized you for MMJ is all you need. There are a lot of dispensaries out there that don't seem to know what they're doing. Take your money and deal with the ones that do.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure. The signed, dated authorization form is the same as a friend got from a clinic Doc.

If a healthcare professional writes an authorization on a legal prescription pad, I believe it might get the healthcare professional in trouble federally, but I don't think it'll get the patient in trouble.

That's why most authorizations use non-prescription pad tamper-resistant paper - also known simply as "security paper" - rather than the prescription pads.

Authorizations must contain the following things to comply with 69.51.A:

- Must be on tamper-resistant paper.
- Must contain a statement signed and dated by a qualifying patient's health care professional, which states that, in the health care professional's professional opinion, the patient may benefit from the medical use of marijuana.

Expiration dates are not required, although they are included by many who issue authorizations.

The cooperative/collective which gave you information about the prescription paper may have simply been trying to assist both the healthcare professional and yourself in the law and in the way that most authorizations have become rather standardized in the recent months since the law changed effective June 10, 2010. I doubt they were trying to mislead you.

Also, your not having been verified yet might very well not have anything to do with what paper your authorization was written on. If you brought it to them on Friday, and they were unable to contact your naturopath to verify the authorization before the naturopath's office closed for the weekend, then that is most likely why you're not yet verified.

While it might seem to patients that they need to fill out a lot of forms and wait for verification needlessly (they have that authorization they paid for already, right?), there are very good reasons behind the cooperative/collective's verification processes. They provide safety for both patients and organizations who are trying to comply with 69.51A as best they can. Authorizations are easily faked, even on tamper-resistant paper. Fake driver's licenses and IDs are also not too difficult to obtain, from what I understand. Complying with all the requirements of the law and checking out every aspect of the authorizations/documentation is what helps keep those cooperative and collectives open and providing medical marijuana to eligible patients. Those who don't adequately verify authorizations will most likely be - and have been, in the past - shut down.

So for everybody's sake, please be patient with the verification process. It's what helps keep medical marijuana accessible to those who need it.

The script paper is Wa. State only, it has nothing to do with federal anything until a M.D. who is registered with the feds authorizes a federally controlled substance to be dispensed by a pharmacy and must have a D.E.A. # on it...other wise it is a state prescription only viable in the state it was written...yes, MMJ is a state prescription pursuant to the NEW Wa. CSA 69.50.

Thanks for all the replies. I agree that they probably couldn't get in touch with my Doc will probably hear from them today. I took my GF in and she only gave them the full size authorization and they weren't confused so we will just give that in the future. Figured since they still needed to call on mine they may as well do her at the same time. Sucks getting old...start falling apart.

You got some outfits that don't accept the full sized forms.lol I ran into a couple. So again just try and stick with the ones that know what they're doing and have decent product at semi decent prices.

Won't accept the full sized pages, tamper-resistant paper, all the details necessary are there, and so on? That doesn't make sense. (And I say that, being someone who does verifications on a daily basis.) Did they say why?

This was before the new tamper resistant paper they are using know. They thought the laminated cards were less tamper proof. Told them I could sit down at my computer and make one of those in 5 minutes and laminate it at home.lol
Use to do that with my medical cards for truck driving because it was such a pain doing the physical. It was just easier, faster and cheaper to make my own.lol
