Clones from Flowering Plant
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I just had success cloning two cuttings from one plant that was two weeks onto flowering. One cutting was a branch that broke enough that I said fuck it, I'll try and clone it. The other was a smaller sucker that was growing from low on the stem and was starting one bud. Both rooting and tomorrow getting potted.
I used rockwool plugs on both with them in a small pan. I used rooting powder and a solution of 1/2 gal of water with a half tblsp of Big Bloom, and also used the same to mist them. Roots can be seen on the one on the left. I just gave them a shot of the mix with a 1/4 tsp Grow Big. They need a little more after two weeks rooting. :D

i just saved my G13 strain because i let the mother veg outside and she decided to flower and i hadnt taken any off at the time :cursing: . got lucky because the first time i tried they didnt root. kinda scared me cause it was the first time i had clones that wouldnt take- and it couldnt happen at a worse time. but i got a good mother plant now from a snip i took off it 3 weeks into flowering. it takes a little longer for them to do their thing but atleast you didnt lose the strain.

I bought some rooting hormone to use when taking cuttings for clones. Then when I got home, read the label and it says "do not use on plants that are to be used for food or feed." So I was afraid to use it...
The active ingredient in this stuff is Indole-3-butyric acid. Anyone have experience using this product?
Thanks! :hippy:

I've used rootec in the past. don't have any right now, but its worked well for me. The stuff I used this time is called Greenlight Rooting powder. Worked for me. Hope you get it worked out. These clones are from about 120 day old plants so..................... :D
Oh, yeah, it took two weeks or so under a single CFL bulb keeping the plugs wet. :smokin:

Greenlight....that's the same stuff as what I got. I guess you just don't worry about the 'not for human consumption' warning, eh? I'm very sensitive to chemicals, so I was afraid to use it.

I didn't read the label and it was what was around here. I thought it was safe. Oh, well I guess I'll just have to take my chances. After reading the little booklet, I'm not eating it so.................. Next time, I'm getting some rootec rooting gel.

This is the girls today. They have been under cfl and with other things going on, I neglected them for a couple of days. Hopefully they will be faithful medicine providers for me. :D

Here are the ladies tonight. Next week, they are going under a T5 SunBlaze 46 4' 6 light system. Right now, they have just been getting comfortable from being in the cups, and there were roots to the outside of the cups when I transplanted into the pots last week. I guess I'll have to move them over to the indoor segment once they get going under the T5 system. :D
Cool shadows in the pic!! :pimp:

Thanks. I got two more that are starting that are going under the new system too. The momma's were done outdoors, now I want to see what they will do indoors without the mold attack, white powdery mildew, and other nuisances. :D
And, even the baby buds make excellent hash from da mommas!!!

The eagle crapped and I got my new light system today. Sunsystem SunBlaze 46, 4', 6 lamp set up. Fits perfect in the closet, and with the ratchet hangers, I can easily adjust the height. Complete, with a 5 year warranty, and the hangers it was under $225.00. Great deal, great store, and got it for $30 less then the other shops.
Now the clones are under it, and I will be showing their progress in the coming days in the indoor growing section of the forum. :D

In my opinion, and using what I've gotten from doing it, clones taken during the early flowering stage produce way, way more budding points and growth areas. And the nodes right now are tighter then a you know what!!! :D
I need to get me some rootech and rockwool plugs next time I go shopping for my medical needs. The largest clone has a couple of lower shoots that will make excellent clone is a couple more weeks when they get a little bit larger. And, I'm diggin' the lighting for the space and economy.

I got mine going under a single Fresh2 CFL bulb I think its 23 watts. :D I used it to start my seedlings a year ago. I used it here and they progressed through the states shown under that single light until now. So, I would imagine yours would too under 4 bulbs, and do it quicker. :smokin:

Here are the ladies today. The bigger two have grown 12" in six weeks, and the smaller one has about 9" but has been further from the light because she and some others are sharing with the bigger ladies!!! Those with T5 experience are welcome to comment. Their growing temps have varied because their only heat comes from the light, and I know the temps have fallen in the low 60s during the night. Light has been kept withing 2"-4" with more like 3" from the large plants, and about 12" or a little more from the others. Amazingly there is hardly any stretch with the smaller plants, and there are four stages growing. :D
The one on the left has a new future clone growing from the stem already, and I took clones from that same area 10 days ago.

These plants have been interesting to grow. They have, during their regrowth have gone through a second time, all the stages of growth from rejuvenate leaflet to the development of the regular increasing leaflet numbers. they have also been a bit confusing since this rejuvenation growth is yellow at the same time as the plant is sprouting new growth. I wondered if it was a nute problem at first because I did mildly nute stress the taller of the tree in the post above. Turns out, it wasn't, it was the rejuvenation growth ending its life cycle.
I'm also amazed at the number of budding tips that will be on these cloned from flowering plants will produce. So, for illustration I'm adding this photo. I'm impressed by the plant, not so much with my expertise. This is from the middle plant above. :D
