How would I reveg a plant if I like it's traits, but want to harvest the bud? Can I carefully cut the bud and leave the fanleaves then go 18/6 with the lights?

this is a bad idea... even if you cloned the budding plant and reverted it back to veg, it would always be a stressed out plant... and would never produce well. I would not recommend ever doing this, especially to a plant that you want to be a mother!
you can re-veg a plant, no problem. i've done it first hand. i've got some pics in my old grow logs. i'll see if i can't find some. keep some of the lower growth on the plant, more than just the fan leaves. if there's not much then keep a few of the small buds. i would suggest trimming the rootball and putting it in a smaller pot with some fresh soil. start light on the veg nutes and put her back into veg. the growth might be funky and gnarly at first, and even some single, double or triple-bladed and possibly non-serrated. just keep her in the light and keep feeding her veg nutes. she'll be fine. rust has a thread on it.Quote:

the second harvest could be as good, if not better than the first as their are more shoots and growth sooner on a re-vegged plant.

Thank you all for your replies. I have a Trainwreck that I picked up as a clone at my local dispensary and she has done better than the others that were purchased at the same time. I think I got 2 Trainwreck clones from 2 different mothers.
She's not stressed right now other than flowering, so could I take a healthy branch and start it as a clone? Just cut it, hormonre it and root it. Would I be better off taking several clones right now to ensure the genetics continue? Or shoud I modestly harvest her wonderful fruit and re-veg?
She's just much more vigorous than my other ladies and has many more(20% or so) trichs than the rest of my ladies. I may change my mind once I sample her fruit, but by looks and history alone she has now been named "Jane". The name comes from a VERY long story, but holds very special meaning to me so I figured I'd share that with my Champion Lady!
i harvested a plant in march. Put it into 18/6 for a month then outside for the summmer. I just harvested again a week ago. With more yield this time . So ya it works. Everyone should try it.That way you can answer correctly.
how far along is she in flower? if she's beyond 3 or 4 weeks you might want to just wait and re-veg her. i mean you can still take cuts beyond this point, but they can take a long time to root.Quote:

it's never a bad idea to take several cuts from each plant, just in case.
when in doubt, or confronted with conflicting advice, you can always try both. that way you know beyond a reasonable doubt.

She's finishing her 6th week. Not going to be too much longer to harvest. I have heard people say that to re-veg, you need to leave a decent amount of buds on the lower branches and leave as mant leaves as I can. I need to re-pot though right?Quote:

i've re-vegged a lady from a straight up stump, so i know it can be done with next to nothing.
if you don't trim the roots and stay in the same size container then when your plant does start to re-veg it will be developing new roots so your pot size will eventually be huge. i mean if you have the space it wouldn't be a bad thing.
sorry if i'm not making sense, i'm stoned way early. lol.

Some folks don't have the luxury of time or space to do this.Quote:

Makes perfect sense to me. I've got a 2X2' clone closet that I plan on adding a shelf too for the clones to sit on. I'm glad to hear it can be done. Although I probably would've tried anyway. You don't know unless you try it right?:) Thank you for guiding me down the right path as to re-vegging her.
On a side note, my grandma used to be able to take cuttings from about any plant and start them without any rooting compound, but I've never had any luck. I'm sure part of it was knowing where to cut and how to care for them and I wish I could duplicate her success! She probably had somewhere around a 90% success rate.
