Heat, Exhaust and Co2 for new room
I'm starting a new room and want to add a co2 generator. I'm starting with a space of 6'Wx12'Lx6'H. I have a perfect exhaust opening ( 6"x4") leading outside.
I am starting with a 1000w switchable HID ballast with Raptor reflector that has 8" flanges (adding one more light for second grow), 8" can-fan with appropriate can-filter and c.a.p. air-3dn controller (wanted the option of a heater at night if necessary).
Question is I would like to add co2 and wondering if a CGE method is good for this. I have no problem cooling light (lights) seperately with 8'' fan from one end of room to the other, and cooling rest of (air tight) room with AC if necessary.
To my understanding, this would be the way to keep a steady 1300-1500 ppm while using generator and c.a.p. ppm-3 controller.
BUT,,,,,, would the odor in my room be a whole new problem? Would it be smart to buy another 8" fan and just circulate air within room through filter?
How would I deal with odor using this CGE method? Or is CGE not the best way to go?
Please, any input is appreciated!
Thanx, DP

Another question,,, is it a bad idea to cool lights with freezing air from outside when temps are below 35? Or should I draw air from seperate room, through 8" vent, through light reflector, through fan and out house.
Seems it would cool fast drawing from outside but I'm thinking bulb would shatter as if water hit it. True? DP

What's your experience level? How's your memory and attention to detail? Any curious kids at risk? Is the growroom sealed, or will the CO2 leak throughout the house?
CO2 isn't a toy, (it displaces the oxygen, and can suffocate mammals) nor is it necessary unless in a hot enviornment. And even then, I've personally never felt the need to spend the extra cash. (even though I live and grow in the SW desert)

Thanx for responding RT. I am not a beginner nor am I a pro or I would not have to ask questions on a forum. I understand co2 not being a toy and don't intend on using it as one. I have an attic that I want to start the room in and will have it completely sealed and vented. I just want to get the most out of my grow. Can you blame me?
I'm not starting my project anywhere I can have a kid stumble on it. I just want to know a good system for my grow if I used a co2 generator. I don't want the trouble of refilling co2 tanks and have the extra bucks to get a quality system.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanx!!!
And P.S. I have grown smaller crops and just want to expand! DP

It is NOT an attic with exposed beams and roof joists. It is a finished attic completely up to code. Trust me, not lookin for a fire!! DP

hey DMP, what temp are you gonna run your CO2 at?

I'll be running the room temp around 75 knowing the gen. will probably bring it up between 80-85. Unless I get some better advice.

Ok it's obvious I'm not gonna get any helpful posts after 2 weeks waiting. I'll just get the info I need somewhere else. Good luck everyone,, hope you have better luck than me! DP

Excuse me...? Looked like you had let the thread die, and it's not our responsibility to refresh YOUR thread. That's YOUR responsibility. And since you didn't refresh (bump) the thread for days and weeks, it shows others that you either found the info elsewhere, or dropped the idea. So :wtf: ?
Anyway, do what ya gotta do.
Good luck.

Patience to the point of inaction is no longer patience...it's inaction.
I'm not usually one to mince words or pussy-foot around. Were I not an old grumpy ass, I'd likely do the people pleasing, politically correct, double-speak dance, but that's just not me.
So what were the 25 different questions you had again? (not only grumpy, but forgetful) Perhaps someone with CO2 experience will lend a helping hand.

Ok I'll try and tame the 25 questions,, Wondering how well I can control odor by just pulling air from within room and filter and just recirculating it.
I just want the best system intact for when I add co2.

yes running a recirculating filter will work just fine! its what i do. check out the log in my sig. you'll my homemade filter just sitting on the floor pushing the nuetralized air up and constantly cleaning the air.
fixed my odor problem in 15 minutes worked wonders!
