Should one poke a needle through the stem of a flowering plant?

Hey guys,

First post on the site, but thats not to say I haven't been reading on all your posts!

Had a quick question - Some of my friends mentioned something about sticking a toothpick or a needle through the stem of a flowering plant in order to wound the plant, and as a result, increase THC production...I have never heard of this technique, so its quite difficult to find the right terminology and whatnot (hence this new thread), so if anyone could just let me know:

1) What is this process called?
2) What does it require (time, tools, actual procedure)?
3) Is it really worth it?

An old wives tale. Stressing a plant does just that, it stresses. If you were to really read some of the posts scattered through this part of the forum, you might find a less stressful way to make the plant produce.

First learn how to consistently grow, then play with modifications, but stressing a plant is not the best way to increase potency.

you could start by trying to stick a needle through your stem. see if you perform better. LOL that would hurt. It would stress me out . stress bad. tender lovin care good!

Well thanks for clearing it up for me, now I know that its called stressing. Probably will avoid this technique now!

The genetics will dictate its resin production more than anything else. I have a couple of variants of the same strain and one is particularly more frosty than another at the same age/conditions.

While I don't think injuring a plant is the way to make it perform better..... If it did I may try running a plant over with my car so it'll REALLY start producing!

Low Stress Training and/or super-cropping, or pinch/kink/bend branches actually does work. Some may pinch and bend branches that are too tall. The pinch helps the branch not snap, like kinking a garden hose. Later you'd find instead of one tall bud site, several almost one big continuous line of buds sprouting up out the side of the now horizontal branch.

I don't know if the "stress" of it all makes more oils but a whole bunch more extra buds surely will! YMMV

If you're growing bagseed, sure...go for it. This way, if you end up with nanners on the ladies, you'll have something to blame. :thumbsup:
But if you are growing with quality genetics, let 'em be. Time and patience are the best ingredients you can offer your ladies. (and proper nutrients, proper lighting and ventilation, and some TLC if you can muster it. :jointsmile:)

Very dank, or very rank?

Only thing I ever heard pee helps is jellyfish stings.

Actually peeing on your soil when they are growing isn't a bad idea. I heard that our pee is a great source of nitrogen. As far as stressing the plants, if your not careful it will stunt your growth. I am sure that there are some good low stress techniques. But I would only try using those a couple of days before harvest. It would increase resin production, but decrease bud mass production. Also I heard that 2 days before harvest that you should stop watering and 2 weeks before harvest stop feeding fertilizers.
