Identification: what to do?
Ok guys i am new to this forum, although i have been browsing around I did not join until today.
A friend of mine gave me some seeds and I planted the seeds. I didn't think nothing of it until it actually grew. Its been about 5 or 6 weeks "i think" and the plant keeps growing. I really didn't pay much attention to it at first, I just water the plant every two days. At this point the Plant looks beautiful and its got a wonderful smell we all like.
basically i am now very curious about the plant and i would like to know more about it so that i can take care of it properly and enjoy its fruits if any...
If any of you know what type of plant it is and can guide me on the right direction It will be much appreciated. thanks
If you guys need better pictures let me know.

Hey glad ya joined man:thumbsup:and reading in here is very important as this will give you all the knowledge to grow your plant. There is no way a person can tell you what strain your growing as people breed seeds all the time. If you buy a seed from a seed bank then you will know what ya got. You might want to get some fertilizer, but start out slow with it if you have not used any yet. If you have a hydro store around you could get ferts there.
It looks pretty healthy to me so your doing it right so far so just keep doing what your doing:thumbsup:. Soon you might think about a re pot so ya might want a 5 gal pot or so and some soil thats got good drainage.

Just make sure ya get it in full sun as much as ya can, plus some ferts will help. But every strain looks a bit different. Your plant looks great man, just gets some ferts and it will grow much faster and might give you a greener plant as in the veg state they like a lot of Nitrogen.
Best thing is do so reading and if ya have questions, id be glad to help. Post em here or in my thread in this section.
Good luck man, i hope i was some help:thumbsup:

Just an FYI, a sativa will have a more thin leaf and an Indica will have a wider leaf, but there is no way it is 100 percent. All strains have been bread and bread again so i really believe there is no pure one or the other, like i posted its a mix of the two.

Here is a few more pics. I have been noticing that the bottom leaves are getting yellow.I have snipped a few off ,But the question is Am i watering the dirt too much? I try and keep the watering to every two days.
I also see that in the bottom of the plant there are branches that are basically "branching" out on their own. Is that normal?
Again sorry for the stupid question i am a noob.:)

Hey man, that plant looks pretty good, but it does look a little hungry, like it could use some nutrients. You could order some top notch nutes online, or maybe there's a nursery/garden store near you that might sell some decent plant foods. I bet it will green right up for you with a light dose of good quality nutrients. If you can, try to stay away from the Miracle-Gro / Schultz / big name brands they sell at Wal Mart, Home Depot etc. Go with Botanicare or Fox Farm or anything organic if you see them.
The yellowing in the top and the bottom leaves is a sure sign that it is hungry. It is using the nitrogen in the lower leaves because it has taken all it could find in the soil, so they are yellowing out and would have fallen off by themselves if you hadn't clipped them.
Branches starting to grow out along the main stem is completely normal, you should see what would happen if you cut the main top off. I attached a couple shots of one of mine I topped, she went crazy. :) Come to think of it, growing on your fire escape, you might want to top her anyway, to try to keep her short and bushy.

Might be over watered as every other day is a bit much, but id say you need to re pot your plant bro. If thats its first pot id say that you need to re pot for sure. I am not sure what kinda soil your using and if you have read any of my posts, you know then im going to tell ya to get some perlite to mix with your soil. Most potting soil has it, but not nearly enough as your soil will get all mucky and your roots will not get any oxygen and then the yellow gets worse. In my Sig iv wrote up a ''how to re pot'', if you follow it your plant will thrive. I need to go back and look again, but after the re pot id give some ferts too. Sometimes ya get yellowing from a lack of Nitrogen, but looks to me your going to need a bigger pot anyway.
You should only water when your plant really needs it. After a watering, pick up your pot to feel how heavy it is. Then in a few days, pick it up to feel if the plant has used it up. Sometimes you will water sooner and sometimes later. It depends on how much your plant uses it up. After a few times as soon as ya move it, you will know to water or not.
Your plant should branch out plenty, if your lucky you will get way more branching. The more branching ya get the more buds will grow from them. Its not a good idea to cut off leaves even if they are yellow. When your plant is done with them they will push em off. These leaves will still feed your plant so its important to have as many as possible. If you see plain out dead growth id cut it off rite where the dead part is and let the rest of the leaf do its job:thumbsup:. I say this only becouse the dead leaves can rot, which attracks bugs and bud root seems bad this year so as a prevention this would be a good idea. If ya have any questions il be back.
See ya an good luck man:rasta:

Awesome man.LetsSeeYa I did read you thread about re potting i was going to do so this week, Do you have any links or info where i can learn how to top the plant? I don't want to ruin her by cutting the wrong stuff.
As far as soil i am using some home depot brand,I don't really remember.
So let me get this straight, pertile is basically some sort of gravel that holds moisture and this pertile should be at the bottom of the pot for drainage and air?
-
Identification: what to do?
It's simple... If you want to top it, get a pair of scissors, follow the main stem all the way to the top, choose a spot down a couple leaf nodes down from the top, and cut it off, just snip the main stem right off. Pretty much impossible to do it wrong. Just don't go too far down. 2 or 3 leaf nodes down will be good, it will bush right up for you.
Can you tell its sex yet?

Perlite is the white chunky stuff you see in potting soil. You can buy it by the bag.

Well it is a rock and is in yor soil now. Its the whilte small pieces in your soil.
If your soil has a fertilizer that feeds for 3 moths or sometimes it will say it will feed your plant for 6 months, DO NOT ADD ANY FERTS. Your plant will just burn up. It will work as i grew my indoor in it, but while reading i saw so many people adding ferts to pre ferted soil, that just ended up burnt, i just let the soil do its thing and everything went fine. You want to mix the soil with about 25% to soil in the pot. You mix the perlite with your soil, then use the mix to re pot your plant. Iv read that the dust is unhealthy so run water through it or ware a mask so ya dont breath the dust in. When i got mine from the nursery, they had washed it by just running water through it. Its safe just dont stick your head in the bag or anything like that and its not going to hurt your plant.
I ask about the pre ferted soil because its growing like crazy and topped or fimmed is a good idea. If not it will grow at least 5-6'. I will look around for a pic, but ya need to put ''topping'' in the search and there will be a ton of threads on how to top or fim. You just cut the very top off, but only the very new growth. You really cant mess this up as it ya cut your plant in half its still going to grow, but lets not do that.:wtf: You might catch a you tube video as i know there is one, but like i said, just cut the top new growth.

Yeah the soil i used from home depot said that it feeds plants for up to 3 months and it does have the little white foam pebbles I think i am in my 3rd month now.I did put in two sticks of miracle grow about two weeks ago..(bad idea i see) So should i get the same soil or go with the soil and pertile mentioned above?
-
Identification: what to do?
Just go with the soil you're using. Don't add any more ferts just yet. Add some extra perlite, because perlite promotes drainage, and drainage is good.

Ok fellas I repotted today. When i pulled the old pot of the plant the dirt stood intact,I noticed that the outer part of the soil was covered with roots so i am assuming the plant needed a bigger pot for sure. here is a picture for her in her new pot. But over night about a 1/4 of the plant got yellow (bottom area) and this got me a bit concerned. Hopefully this repotting will bring her back.
sorry for the side ways picture, I am the worst photographer ever.

No such thing man, if done correct. And all soil was intact, he said so its some other issue. Might be the fert sticks kicking in, while using pre fertted soil. You only need to water this plant throgh budding. If you add any ferts it will only burn your plant, but no big deal as your soil will feed your plant every watering. And will be washed out in time for harvest. I grew like this and worked fine, see my bud:thumbsup:its from my indoor now out to re veg, called Edna:cool:

Good job on the re pot man:thumbsup:. The purple can mean a couple things iv read. One, it has an Afghani gene in it or there is a deficiency in the plant, but dont worry about it, your plant looks nice and healthy. Give it a week and it will bush out and look great as its roots will streach its legs a bit in its new home.

Ok fellas a few days have passed and my plant when through some changes. I just want to make sure its on the right track.
1.noticed that the bigger leafs are starting to get yellow even after the repot
2.noticed that the purple color is spreading rapidly through out the stem and leafs stems
3.there are a bunch of smaller leafs and little branches coming out all over the main stem.
What do you guys think,is this all basic and normal or am i too paranoid and need to let it grow with out constantly watching it?
-
Identification: what to do?
Your plant looks good, mon. That purple is genetic - having to do with what strain of cannabis ya got. That's a good thing, mon. :rastasmoke:
You might be dropping fan leaves because the plant got stressed, but all that new growth will make up for the loss. So you're doing fine. And it's ok to constantly watch your plant (if you want) ... just send it love when you do, not fear. Cuz they can tell ... :hippy:

actually your marijauana plant loves the mild 70-75 degree weather. Its the hot 85-90 degree grow room she doesnt like. I say keep it outside and cover it from the rain if possible. Its survived this long off mother nature, i say let her finish what she started.
