New to Indoor Growing....
1.) I just got 6 White Widow clones today and put them in my new grow closet under a 600 watt Sun System. I am starting them on an 18/6 photoperiod with the 6 hours of darkness ranging from 12:00 Noon - 6:00 PM. Due to the fact that it is summer, 12 noon to about 6 pm are the hottest hours of the day. This concerns me and makes me wonder if I should keep the ventilation going 24/0 in my grow room. Is this the best way to do it? Running the lights 18/6 and the blowers 24/0?
2.) How long should I grow them at 18/6 before I make the switch to 12/12?
3.) I plan on getting 4 more clones on Wednesday. Most likley a different strain. Would it be alright if I put them on the same shedule as the White Widows even though they are 3 days behind?... possibly even more depending on the age of the clone?

I would recommend you run your veg and flower period at night time for your plants in summer. This helps cut down on cooling and energy costs. Keep ventilation going constantly.
Under a 600w lamp, run them about 3-4 weeks in veg then flower That strain takes a while, about 12-14 weeks to finish.
You'll be fine with a few days of lag on the other clones, no biggie. If they are indica dominant, then you'll harvest those before the WW.

That is pretty much what I do. The light goes on at 6pm, right after peak hours during the summer. I sleep all night with the light on then wake up and turn it off at 12 noon. I am not too worried about energy costs. Money is fortunatley not an issue for me.
3-4 weeks it is, because I want optimal growth. I read in the Cannabis Grow Bible that you can flower clones in as little as 1-2 weeks depending on the size of them. Is it also a viable method to send your plants into flowering when they reach a certain size? I only have about 3 vertical feet of grow room so I do not want them getting too big. I suspect this will take 2-4 weeks to reach the size I am looking for. Please let me know if I have been misinformed.
Ok thanks. I'll keep that in mind when picking my next clones. I'm thinking about getting some Headband, or maybe even a strain of purple.

I flower immediately after rooting, regardless of size.
You only have about 3 feet of vertical height? Veg for 2 weeks and no longer. White Widow gets TALL with rapidity.

Understood. It seems like the best thing to do is play it by eye then? Once I am confident in the size and rooting system of all 10 clones, I will change the photoperiod from 18/6 to 12/12.
I have about 3 vertical ft of comfortable growing room. If they get too big however, I can adjust the table legs down from 18 inches, down to 12, possibly even shorter if I remove the ballast from underneath the table. That was how I designed my room. Adjust the table and light wattage opposed to moving the light itself. I have a set fixture that cant really be moved around at all.
Thanks again for all the help Khyber. You have been extremley helpful thus far. I need to get a 600w bulb. Once I do that.... nutrients is the last thing I need to learn and then I should be well on my way to becoming a seasoned SoG grower. :)

Thanks Mick. So I should harvest sometime in between 10-12 weeks. That seems to be the general synopsis I keep hearing.
I also talked to my local hyrdo store owner and he says I am fine with using a 1000w bulb converted down to 600 by way of interchangable ballast. I apparently dont need a new bulb, just some general nutrient knowledge which I will turn to my hydro store and gorw bible for.

No, it is a 12 week Sativa dominant hybrid.
I breed for the Dutch. The White Widow is a cross of a Brazilian Sativa and an Indian Indica.
Have a picture of my last WW crop. Incidentally, it was the last time I used HPS.

dude he's growing white widow not black widow, i know shanties got the original PAL.. so ya think the guy above is growing the original..when did you grow out ya so called originals..i know GHS version are their selection of f1 originals..black widow is a 10 week sat. which we ain't talking about that here fella..the thread would be called black widow.. ya say you breed for the dutch done anything ive heard off by the way..

It is Greenhouse White Widow. 75% Sativa, 25% Indica. Flowering from seed can last 9-11 weeks. From clones, 8-10 weeks. Same stuff that won the 1995Cannabis Cup. I hope that helps clear up the dispute.

That wouldn't be possible I don't think. I already started growing them SoG. Worst case scenario, I give LST a try down the road. I am resolving issues by building a flowering grow box for my 1000w, then using the small closet for a 400w vegging room. I just need to figure out the optimal size to build my grow box for a 1000 watter.

Hey diso, if i were you id really look into this section, because your going to need to vent that baby big time. A 1000wter is going to really put out some heat man, do ya have a basement to grow in? If so and its not an issue, thats where id grow at, but you might not or thats where you would grow:hippy:

My ballast is dimmable (1000w/750w/600w/Super Lumens). I have it running at 600w right now, so I am using it cranked all the way down. However it is still a little bit too hot. Its topping out at 82 degrees but the ventilation is optimal so its going ok. My biggest concerns right now are light bleaching and vertical grow room.
