1st grow ... Have a Few questions.

Ok.... so this is my first post new to the site. I looked around and i think ive found the answer to my question but im not sure.

What is happening is my lower leaves are starting to slowly yellow. I had yellow leaves before when in veg stage and the proplem was solved with a simple nutrient tweak. Ive tried adjusting the nutrients again but to no avail. My plants are in direct sunlight for 4 hrs a day and in direct for around the other 6 of the day. I know not ideal by no means but hasnt been a proplem yet. my Plants are 4' but lanky i believe this is contributed to the lack of direct sunlight.

So is it normal for these leaves to be yellowing during the first few weeks of flower. I can try to get pics up later if they will help.

Also kinda of topic if anyone can help with this question. When does the plant acctualy start producing smokable amounts of thc. Just a curiosity question cus when walking to my plants i can smell them from a good 30 40 feet away alrdy , does this means they are smokable alrdy. i know im gunna let them grow of course but its a random thought.

yes it is normal for bottom leaves to yellow and die off during the flower stage. also......yes it does contain thc now just not in the concentrated amounts.

Its really hard to mess up outside. This plant can do amazing things. Ya might fim a branches to help with the spendly thang. I just did one, cuz its getting less light then i want. After it grows a bit, il pull it into the direct light so the fimed part will produce most of the yield in a cola type growth. See my thread as i went over it just now.

2nd thnx at least i know im good i just had a friend over lookin at them who used to grow alot back in the day and he was showing me all these old school tricks which i thought was funny cus he was describing LST to me and he was makin it sound like a secret but anyways we left my one plant alone who has a nice fat cola alrdy starting on it ( cant wait :rastasmoke: ) but on the top of the other we snipped the top. he said it would branch out from here but at 4 feet with ardy spliting once around 2 feet was that a good idea lol

3rd my plants are at 4 feet but i styill hafta support them they cant stand straight up on there if i get any gust of wind which happens alot being on the ocean lol . is there something i can do to beefin up the stalks and make them more solid or just stake em and let em go.

your plant will smell cos its a fresh herb but dont smoke them now.....thats pretty dumb

yeah when i started growing i had no clue these forum sites existed i got bored and planted some seeds i had gotten outta a reg bag (shhhh i know lmao). I would have started a grow log i have some pics when there were small maybe ill start one lol would be kinda pieced together but still fun

yeah man get us some pics you can just start you logg off right here umm fimming is like topping but instead of cutting the whole new growth off the top you just take like 80% of it and you can get from anywhere to 3 to 7 tops on ya plant instead of just one main cola when it grows natural

But i started out with 6 plants 2 i just got rid of last week where some big healthy males was a shame i didnt have something to pollinate with them. but then i lost 1 to a rodent of some sort it seemed angry at my plant and destroyed the pot and tore the plant to pieces glade it only got 1. then i lost another to dropping it on the way from one spot to next, was my fault. so i only got 2 plants left luckaly are both female.

Yeah just bagseed ( im guessing bagseed means a seed from a bag of bud you got) im using shultz plant food 10-15-10 right now. For what ever reason the fertillizer here blows hardcore. Everything is miracle grow and i cant find any organic stuff around im very sad about this but what can i do. The guy at the local smoke shop is opening a hydro store but not for a few months maybe next grow ill have him get me some free stuff to set up a hydro room. I can dream right :hippy:

OK good morning everyone,

Last night i was just reading on the internet bout flowering cycles outside for marijuana. I read an article that said if you cover your plants outside with a black heavy duty thrash bag where no light can get in you can acctualy start to alter the flowering cycle, seems plausible.

Question i have is if you put a bag over a plant like that is there risk of any kind of suffication i guess you would call it. Like no fresh air and wind and just kinda being under a plastic bag doesnty seem tyo healthy but if its just for 12 hrs on 12 hrs off shoud it be ok?

The next pic i got to come through . In this one you can see how far it has stretched beacuse of the fact i had to move them to a different spot, my neighbor has kids and they asked me to keep them out of site, anywways the spot i moved to as you can see in the pic is very shady and all the lower leafs died off leaving me with just the top leaves.

yeah man can you not find a place with more sun and how long have they been in those pots you may need to transplant them soon

those things look pretty stretched out.. otherwise they look great. And I dont know what evry1 is telling you but if you plants are in a pot and the lower leaves are yellowing and dying off it could be because the roots dont have enough room to grow. Lower leaves dying off ISNT a good thing.. not in VEG.. it's going to make its way up the plant if you dont figure out whats wrong. You might have to transplant if the lower leaves are yellowing and you think its not a nutrient problem. Also dont bother trying to force flower.. why rush it.. just let the good sunlight and nature do its thing.. its patience.

they have been in those pots sence seeds lol but i dont see any roots coming out the bottom sides or anything and when i cut down the males the root ball was very small on it . Is that normal? :rasta:

yeah thats what i was thinkings MD but some of the bottem leaves do fall off during veg just not alot like 2 every other month cuz the new growth on top takes there place but after seeing your pots and your plants i think you need to repot

i would say that is normal for the rootball to be small.. but if the roots are just circling around at the bottom of the pot, they dont have anywhere to go... thats what you want to look for. If the lower leaves are dying off if you dont solve the problem the next set of leaves up are next.. and it continues to progress upwards

yeah man i bet your plants have been growing really slow here lately if they have been in those pots since seed you deff need to repot now asap if they are starting to flower

yea I saw that you hit it right on.. when I read the lower leaves were yellowing that was the first thing that came to mind.. because its a mistake alot of first timers probably make.. other then nitrogen deficiency... I was going to ask if they were in the ground then I saw the pots and their size I figured that could be the problem..

yeah they havent got any higher in about a week(i figured due to the flowering) what if i go to repot and the root ball is small and not tryin to escape then what would cause the yellowing and growth stunt? theve been in that spot for a good month now so it wouldnt be shock from moving them.:rasta:

I bet when you put them in some bigger pots they will love it get like a couple 5 gallon pots and you will be good till harvest.

Just roll the pot in tha hands to loosen it from tha sides make sure the soil is kinda dry when you go to repot tho. Then just place your hand on top of the dirt with the stem between your fingers then turn it upside down and it should slide right out.

Put some holes in the bottom and then add perlite or gravel in the bottem of the new 5 gallon pots to help draining then fill them about halfway with tha soil put ya plants in and then fill the rest of the pots with soil water and then your done.

well to be exactly sure I'd need alot more information and Im not even the best at trouble shooting.. but it'd mostly likely be a nutrient deficiency.. but if the problem isnt rapidly worsening it could be no big deal at all.. this is a basic troubleshooter.. Troubleshooting cannabis growing health problems.

yeah, no its not rapid like loosin leaves daily or even every other day.i loose maybe a leave or so every couple weeks .I just went and looked and seen if i could see any roots none that were visible i even dug down the sides alittle still nothing. i may just re pot for the heck of it lol just to rule it out.:rasta:

hey man go pull tha pot off if you see white roots all around tha sides of the soil/rootball then you deff need a repot

go check out lever2000's logg and look at the pic where he is showing his root ball if yours looks like that you need a repot

k yeah i just went a poped it out and i seen little root on the side it wasnt like crazy. I noticed while i was repoting that the soil was really dense and wet which is wierd cus i only water once a week with only a half gallon of water. also when i water i see the water escaping through the wholes on the bottom of the pot. so i know it s draining. needless to say i transplanted in to a bigger pot now.

but i noticed just a minute ago all my leaves are now wilting. * Sad Face*

I watered them in to make sure there were no airpockets in the soil also. could it be beacuse this i thier first transplant?

yeah they are prob just a lil shocked from tha transplant they will be better by in the morning most likely

agreed with everyone as i had mine in similar pots, one way of looking at it is imaginin the canopy of leaves of your plant is the same size as ur root complex so if you dont think the canopy would fit inside the pot then put it in a bigger one.... this is why i love the ground as the roots will always find sumwhere to go,

i wouldnt worry too much bout the yellowing and the leaves dropping off it happens to mine and it happens to all plants under the sun its natural stage of a plants grwoth to get rid of the lower leaves that dnt get much light to put more energy into taking light in through the top leaves which get loads.

some people worry too much and think that cuz there plant has got a bit of yellow or summet isnt quite right that its the end of the world.... chill out, roll a blunt, wathc them grow, let them do there ting, they will be fine unless there is sumthing seriously rong but then u will be able to tell...:jointsmile::jointsmile:

Lol always got a blunt rolled :rasta: well ive been keeping an eye on the plant and i think i messed up the big one i will see in the morning. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do if the leaves and top of the plant dont perk back up soon.

Did i kill it lol , i wouldnt be suprised of even upset im learning and i think im gunna grow inside next just cus it seems easyer even though its lot more work lmao.

I still have a nice healthy female with 2 top and when it full grows out will acctualy have 4 tops which i will fim so i should get at least enough to smoke for awhile off of it.

also what if the plant survives but al the leaves die do i jst clip the dead ones off.

Also .... if i do trim the leaves were they split of from the main stem will bud still grow on those nodes or? If not is there any way to promote lower growth on a 4 foot plant lol :rasta:

K just went and checked on them all the leaves are shriveled expect the top 2 nodes and the very top cola starting everything else i think is gone so what if i just trim up all the dead leaves and let it go i should end up with just a top cola on top of a 4 foot stem thats gunna be very funny looking. Is it even possible.

just let it do its thing man dont trim anythign else off it if it makes it then good if it does not then germ another seed and start over

Good morning everyone,

So these are some pics after yesterdays transplant and being this is the first time ive ever transplanted a plant i think i hurt it but its not dead. As you can see when i woke up this morning every leave was shrivled and dead except the top 4 wierd?:hippy:

It still has the flower on it and doesnt show a single sign of any stress from the transplant so does anyone have any insight on wtf happened will it still grow?

what should i do just let it go and end up with what ever happens lol.

Also ive moved them into a spot that recieves light from sun up to sun down directly on them.

The last 2 pics are of my other plant that im not gunna mess with lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!:rasta:
