What would be causing my plants to start yellowing from the bottom up? I know when a plant is growing too fast some of the new growth could be kinda limey-green looking, but these are the bottom leaves. The new growth is all green and lush now. Could the plants have took the chlorophyll from the bigger leaves to support the new growth?
All the yellowed leaves seem to have some dark green blochiness to them too that wasn't there before. It's almost like the color is bleeding back in to them.
It seems to be getting worse and I'm gettin' a'scared!

Could someone post a couple of pics or lead me to some info on PH problems in young plants? I think that is my problem and I wont have a tester for a week at least. Thanks for anything you guys got.

Similar to the yellowing I saw when my pH was off. But either way, the droop of the leaves shows too much watering. So go sparingly until you get the tester. Let the top inch or two of soil dry out before watering again.

OK thanks for the reply; I just went and got a PH test kit and my tap water going in reads 7.4 which I believe is high. I am not that knowledgable when it comes to pH. I mixed up a sample of nutes at full str just out of curiousity and it reads between 6.8-7.0. I got some pH up & down as well. I was hoping someone could tell me the best way to go from here?
Thanks for any help.

Correction:
Tap Water reads 7.6
I poured out a gallon and started adding pH down. It drops 0.2 for every 2 drops I put in.
So if I'm starting with 7.6 plain water and 7.0 with full strength nutes.
How much pH down should I add to my tap water? 8 drops/gal to bring it to 6.8? more?
What about nuted water?
I guess I'm asking what the ideal soil grow pH in and out should be.

I put my cam on 5 megapixel or w/e so you can zoom in on the plants really well. I have narrowed it down to 2 things it could possibly be... pH problems or just root shock from transplanting.
couple updates, i think its getting worse.

Just found a rusty colored spot =(

Alright... They look PH stressed. Have you given them nutes?
For soil you should aim for 6.5-6.8 PH.
Also the nutes... You said full str? Try going half str for a week and see how they react.
Always start at about 1/4 str nute solution and see how they react. If good you can increase the nutes over time. By doing that you will find the right amount of nutes that the plant can handle at any given time. If they react bad then back down a little bit.
ALWAYS PH your nute/water solution after it is mixed. PH adjustment should be the last thing done to the mix/water before it goes to the plant.
Did you get a ph pen or drops?

It's N deff, but if your ph is 7 it's fine in soil, 6.8 is perfect

I haven't gave them full strength nutes yet. On day 7 I fed them some Big Bloom (0.01%-0.3%-0.7%) at 1/8 strength, and I actually seen them dancing to it. They exploded. I transplanted on day 9 (4 days ago) and watered with reg water. Two days ago, I watered them with 1/4 str Big Bloom but nothing really happened. They aren't due to get their first round of N-heavy Grow Big (6-4-4) until Monday, but I think I am going to dose them up with half str Big Bloom and Grow Big when I water them in a few hours, instead of plain water like I was going to.
N deficiency could very well be... My medium right now is 65% potting soil and 35% perlite. The soil analysis is (0.21-0.07-0.14). Not very strong, I would think after 2 weeks or so of water every 2 days would drain that pretty quick.
Thanks for all the help so far; please let me know what you think of my solution before I do something terrible and have to start over:mad:
The rusty spots seem to be getting worse =(.
GetThisOrDie: I have the tester you suggested ordered, but for now I was just testing my plain distilled water with the drops. The way I tested the nute solution was to mix it up, let the particles settle, then skimmed the top of the clear water for a test. Its the best I could do for now.

indoor or outdoor indoor
soil, soilless, coco, aero, or hydroponic soil
specific medium 0.21-0.07-0.14 potting mix
Soil type/brand MG
Anything you have added to the soil 35% perlite
Soil or slab runoff pH Not sure yet
Water source Distilled Tap
Source water pH 7.0-7.2
Age of plant 12-13 days
Type of fertilizer Fox Farm Trio
Rate of application 1 fert app/week so far; every other watering from now on
Lighting source and distance from plant (6) 26W CFL 6500K ~6"
Air temperature 78 F
Air % Relative humidity 50-60%
Lighting schedule 24/0
Type of ventilation your room has Regular fans for now
Come to think of it... I have 3 plants total. One of the plants was growing ALOT slower than the other 2 initially, but has now caught up to the other 2. Since catching them in growth, it now too has starting yellowing from the bottom. Same exact thing. N deficiency is what I am thinking.

or maybe my terrible ph for the first 2 weeks has nute locked them. Rust spots are some trace mineral lockout from bad ph is what I was reading somewhere. same with nitrogen
Someone please help.. discoloration
Yes the N deficiency was probably due to PH being high. MG potting soil should last a bit longer than 2 weeks from seedling. Rusty dead spots also due to PH lockout. Get your PH under control and have you check the pot runoff?
Its hard with drops since the water will be discolored. Depending on the runoff you might need to flush the soil with ph corrected water.
After the PH is under control then you can worry about mixing the nutes up right.

i think the soil is in the upper 5s for ph; should i run some plain water with ph up through them to bring it up? how would i go about bringing the ph up or do i just need to start over lol
Someone please help.. discoloration
5's are way too low. Try using some dolimite mulched into your soil about 4 inches deep, or some fine granulated lime powder mixed with water and poured from top through bottom of soil. Lime and doloimite are ph nuetral and should bring you to around 6.5 ph, in the 5's and you are nothing but acidic. 6.3 to 6.8 is your goal. I have been using Dr. Earth's organic 5 and it has done well for a fertilizer. I believe it settles at about 6.5 for ph so it levels out the soil just fine. It sits at 7N which is great for veg and flower.

yea, i watered them heavily with 7.8 pH water a couple of times... they are looking pretty good. Seem to be greening up and even put on some height in the past couple of hours... ill keep this updated till they are 100% again.

Woke up this morning and they look 50 times better. Definitely greening back up and put on about half an inch or so of height last night. Thanks for all the help guys; I'll keep updates on my log. Check the signature!:stoned:
