Quick question for a somewhat unique case
Hello all,
Quick Background info: 5'11" 150lbs 20y/o Male
I've been smoking every day, heavily, for about 2 years now. I have a urine test coming up in approximately 3 weeks. I took a body fat test and it came out that I was only about 3.5% body fat (save all the skinny jokes please, I eat my fair share of cookie dough :D). I plan on using the dilution technique outlined in the sticky, but I was just wondering about how long before the test should I quit smoking altogether?
I figure since I don't have hardly a speck of fat on me, I work out every day, and I've cut back to about one or two grav bong hits (daaank buds) a day now, that I should be good to continue smoking up until around a week or so before the test. No need to cut it close though. Just looking for some input and hopefully some past stories. I just can't find anyone who is as skinny as me and hoped that I would be good to keep toking for awhile. (Forgot how hard it is to sleep/eat without buds! :jointsmile:)
I know I'm a heavy smoker and they normally say you need to quit a month or so before, but I feel like only so much THC could be stored in such a small amount of fat. Is there a point where no more THC is absorbed into the fat and simply excreted? Or will it just keep building up until use has ended?

I'm about your same height and weight and it takes me 7-10 days to get clean. I don't workout very much but I consume a high fiber diet and test myself periodically. You smoke far more than I do, so I'm going to say that you will take longer to get clean. If your having trouble quitting(lack of sleep) then maybe you should think about subbing with synthetic urine. Otherwise, I would quit right away and start testing yourself up until test time.

Thanks! Since I've cut wayy down over the past week or so and I've been working out like crazy (trying to sweat out as much as I can and burn that fat up) I figure that 7-10 is probably pretty accurate then. I got the Herbal Clean detox kit for before as well. I have some home tests coming in the mail so I guess we'll see then.
Does anyone have any knowledge about the capacity for THC in fat cells? Is it unlimited or is there a certain cut off point where no more is stored?

Thats an interesting question,I smoke everyday but usually in the evenings after my kids are asleep,it takes me approx. 2 weeks to get clean, im 6'2" 270. no where near the leaness you have % wise,but everyone is different. I too eat a high fiber diet,as it helps keep toxin down and is just overall better for you. As far as how much THC can be built up in a % of fat I would think that it can be replaced as easily as it is released but thats just my opinion not medical fact.

Thanks for the input! This is along the lines that I was thinking. A long day of smoking heavily probably only builds up the amount that is metabolized in the same time period, assuming you were already at the saturation level (which I probably am).
I'd be curious to know exactly how much is metabolized every day (I know this depends on each specific person) in terms of how much is smoked. Again there is way too many variables (metabolism level, potency of the bud) for an easy answer, but for example, I wonder if a gram's worth of THC is metabolized per day or .1 gram. I'm just wondering if my one GB a day is actually lowering my levels at all, or keeping them right where they are.
Also, it'd be interesting to find out the specific capacity of fat cells in terms of some unit of measurement. Might be an interesting science fair experiment. I'd like to see that proposed to a high school science teacher too :D
This would immensely help the perpetual question of "am I gonna be good?" or "am I gonna pass?" If someone could figure out how much is stored in say one pound of fat and figure out how much is metabolized from that one pound per day, then you could reasonably estimate how long it would take for you to drop below the positive/negative line on a drug test.

Theres millions of fat cells in a persons body. There would be no way for THC metabolites to be stored "beyond capacity".
Theres no telling how much THC is metabolized every day because each person is different, plus there are so many variables to take into account. To conduct any scientific experimentation, you can only change one variable.
Periodic home testing is the most realistic and reliable way to gauge how long it takes for a person to test "clean".

So you're saying that no matter how little body fat a person has, there is always a build up effect over time? I think eventually you would reach a point where the THC content in the fat cells isn't rising anymore. Now, I don't know how long it would take to reach that point, or how much dope you'd have to smoke. Might be one of those things where you have to "smoke 1000 joints every 30 seconds" or something ridiculously impossible for a human to do to get there though.

Exactly. All human bodies have fat cells (millions of them) whether theres visible body fat or not.

So you're saying that if me, a skinny guy, and a fat guy smoked exactly the same weed in the same amounts for 5 years, that we would have exactly the same amount of THC in our systems since it just keeps building up and neither one of us would have reached a capacity by that point??

No, you couldn't. That's the whole point. As stated 10000x, there are WAY too many variables (age, weight, fat %, metabolism, THC concentration of the weed, how much you smoke, how deep you inhale, how long you hold your toke, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc) to even come up with a close approximation. This is a dead horse subject, please don't beat it any more.
