Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
Alright so i just got my camera back and now i can post some pics.
I have some seeds from one of last years crops that i popped a couple of weeks ago. They're a sativa dominant strain, but i am really just gunna use the males to pollinate some of my other plants. Ive started them outside instead of inside to help them get hardy so they can handle the road ahead of them.
The strains i will be growing with this season will be Sensi StarXRed Dragon, Blueberry, and This Purple strain ive been growing for a year.
I have 5 plants that i pre vegged for a month indoors and i just put 3 of them up in the woods. Theyre about 1 foot tall and theyve already been topped. I plan on LST'ing them soon,
I have 11 more clones that are rooting as we speak and I will veg them for a little inside, and then transplant them into the woods.
I am Using FF ocean forest soil, and Im using 3 gallon grow bags because i have to pack the dirt up there and the bags are convienent. I plan on cutting the bottoms off and planting them in the ground eventually. I can also fertalize them indivdually (i plan and using the fox farms trio and a whole other lineup of goodies!)
The first plant in one of the SSXRD clones that just got hardened off.
The second is the Blueberry.(she is indica dominant and like to start short, she also looooooovvveeesss the cool Pacific NW weather. It also doesnt hurt that she flowers for about 7-8 weeks tops, making bud mold less of an issue)
The last pic is of a SSXRD cola. ALMOST DONE. I got these seeds from a North Cali grower and its been my champion yielder. It has big leaves like an indica but the Red Dragon(Brazilian genetics i believe) gives her a a little bit of a sativa influence. Some of the Calyxes and leaves even turn a slight red/pink during the end of flowering
I am going up there today and will take pics of my plants that are up in the woods. I have to spend the whole day packing supplies up there(my back already hurts)

Ive also grown these strains in soil and Hydroponics (DWC blows soil out of the water in terms of resin production and yield)
I know the quality is gunna be at least fair. That purple strain is gunna turn purple no matter what temps im getting, And the Sensi Star yields big donkey dick buds. After numerous indoor runs im ready to tackle the good old outdoors. As much as i love being in my grow room i love being in the woods with the birds chirping way more.

I germed them, flowered them, and ended up revegging one because i didnt wanna lose it. I took some clones, and 1 year later i still got it.
It doesnt have a particular name because honestly its just some random purple weed i got some seeds from. I just called it purps. I think it fits. lol

i know its gunna be a bitch, but i needed to get different soil up there. I was gunna dig holes and fill it with the FF soil, but with the grow bags i can move them around. Later in the season before flower i am gunna either cut the bottoms off of the bags and plant them in the ground, or just transplant the entire thing in the ground.
I want monsters. Big 7ft tall bushes that stare me down when i turn the corner and see the patch and make me think about my life. Thats why i love LST'ing, you can turn a plant with one main cola into a plant with 4 main colas. Without topping or stressing the plant very much. I really dont understand why more people dont try it, i think theyre afraid theyll do it wrong or something.
Now i was also thinking....... Both of my patches on really steep hills. I am thinking about packing a rubber maid container up there with some hoses and irrigation fittings and during the hot summer monthes they could watered consistently. All i have to do is fill my resevoir(i have a stream very close by so water is not an issue), mix my nutrients or whatever, and let my babies get all the water they want during the 70-80 degree days of summer because it will naturaly flow downhill to the plants.
Now its just an idea, but it would minimize the amount of time i have to be up there. Any thoughts?

My friend grows 9-10 footers and he puts a hand full of ferts in his hole, then leaves it for a week for animals can get used to it. Then puts the plant in and bury it after a week has passed. Works great, cuz iv smoked his shit and gets 2 grand a plant, so hes doing something right. Hes done this for 2n0 years. But he grows them tied down and grows them a few feet off the ground. So he gets many tops. A large jug with a small hole in the bottom will water your plant for a week. Just fill it, then poke a hole in the bottom and set it next to the stalk. It will release the water slowly and you will learn how often ya need to check them. Just cam it over a bit, ya dont want it to be seen. Might be better then running the pipe, but its on you man, just putting it out there. Good luck.

I just wanna minimize my trips, cause thats the most risky part. Your idea seems much more practical and simple. packing and creating an irrigation just makes me more susceptable to being noticed.

basically, my downfall comes from being an indoor grower.
Im so used to creating the perfect environment, i get stressed just thinking about the things that could go wrong while the days im not checking on them.

Yeah well man the plants are really just weeds and they are harder to kill than you think, its prob cuz you have been growing indoors and have been able to baby them along. But outdoors only tha strong survive and you got the elements to worrie about, your main prob is gonna be the bugs and wild critters.
Which im sure you prob have something to take care of the bugs even indoor growers have them lol, the critters well you can use fishing line or chicken wire thats has be painted camo style placed around each plant will work for that. Oh and you they are on the side of a hill well does it rain alot there heavy rain might wash them away if it rains really heavy for a couple days seeing they are in bags.:thumbsup:

lol just more things for me to worry about. I think ill be fine. I have a weekend of 70 degree weather, so theyre doing fine.
The good thing about living in Western Washington State is that the weather is generally mild. Summer usually averages in the 70's and low 80's, and the fall is beautiful(but does have a tendancy to get very moist). And no, it does not rain all the time in washington like everyone thinks. Check the average yearly precipitation and Washington is in the middle of the list. We just have this constant grey sky in the fall and winter that makes you wanna kill yourself. I swear i dont see the sun for 4 monthes.

i went through that last week, i was trying to transplant my clones but it wouldnt stop raining and hailing. I figure in the long run it will just make them stronger and more resistant to stress. I noticed that the stems and branches are really starting to beef up from the wind and being blown around.
Im just really happy that they didnt flower from being put outside too early.
Im getting about 15 hours of light right now, and i had them running on 17/7 when they were inside. I would be pissed if they flowered and i had to reveg them, its like a waste of 1 months growth(or more).

ye man natures course of events on a plant.... if it doesnt kill it, it will only make it stronger and it will be able to withstand greater stress later on for example, in flowering when u dnt want it to be stressed at all, a plant that has already been battered about will do better through stressful situations.

Yeah, I live in Western Washington State. I live in the Northern Part though, Vancouver BC is only 4 hours away.
My plants rooted 2 1/2 weeks ago but have only been outside for a week and a half. If you count how long it took the clones to root( 1 1/2 weeks) and include that in the total, i would say theyre 4 weeks old.
I just LST'ed them the other day and you can see in the pics how they respond to it. Its been 2 days and every single top is getting equal sunlight and growing into a big stalk. In 2 weeks i will LST each branch again.

Get ready for a long summer my friend...lol, hopefully you don't have a drought.
Good luck!
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
i know my back hurts already. Im not worried about a drought, i live in pretty wet area and the creeks never dry up, There is a creek 25 yeards down hill from my first patch. I will find a way to keep them watered during the summer.
If everything doesnt get moldy and my crop doesnt get stolen or raided, I expect to have enough purple and green weed to smoke for the rest of the year( or until i haverst some more of my indoor buds heheh).
Who knows, maybe itll "SAVE" me enough money that I can afford to get back in the University Of Washington.
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
sweet its been 65-70 degrees for the past three days and its suppose to stick around for the rest of the week.
Its about time for me to venture up in the sticks and take some clones.
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
i had 12 clones but my bro set the timer up wrong and the light schedule was all fucked up. I just threw them out, took my t5's from his place, and decided that if you wanna do things right, you gotta do it yourself.
I have 5 clones in my DIY bubble cloner. I had te air pump and air stones laying around so i thought ide use them. The neoprene inserts are like 25 cents a piece.
Theres some of my recently harvested indoor bud. 6 and 1/2 oz's off of just one plant!
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
I have been bending the crap out of my mothers that are already in the woods. If i didn't bend them over they would probably be 2 feet tall already, but i want them to stay short and inconspicious.
im set back a little bit because my clone situation got screwed up, now i gotta wait a couple of weeks until my news ones are ready to go in the woods.

fyi - you dont need humidity domes for bubble cloners. they will just trap more heat and warm up the rez. also the bottom of your cloner should provide darkness underneath. roots hate light. bust out the duct tape and black it out

thanks. I really dont need a hood though? Im just afraid theyll dry out. I dont have the cuttings sumerged in the water, theyre just above so the bubbles pop on them so its not like theyre just sitting in container of water. Are they still getting enough water from the bubbles to keep them from drying out?
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
ya lose the hood. as long as your bubbles are splashing the root tips like crazy then your good. you only spray clones and use humidity domes on rockwool or plugs as your cloning medium. bubble cloners, all you do is put the cutting in and watch your water temp and ph. thats it. no spraying or using humidity domes. thats why people love em so much. they are easy.

yea ive always used jiffy cubes so the hood has been a neccesity. The PH shouldnt change too much in the cloner should it?
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
the ph shouldnt raise that much. but check it every 3-4 days. mine rises a tiny and i just adjust it.

sweet thanks for your help bro...

Alright so i have some new additions to the garden.
My freind gave me some bullshit plants that he started out in his back yard. They are stretched alot and looked pretty sorry when he gave them to me. After 3 days out in the rain im pretty sure theyll make it.
There is one pic with my very small seedling. I have alot of shit to pack up there so even though she(hopefully) is a little small, she needs to get out of my backyard asap.
I have been having a battle with bugs, snails and slugs in particular. Ive used some slug bait around the perimeter and it seems to have warded them off, for now.
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
thiefs have struck and took all of my branches for clones. I found and empty packet of clonex and a razor blade up at the patch. They left me bullshit plants and raided everything good.
If i find anyone up by my patch, they will pay with their life.
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
i just feel so violated. I hate thieves, the only reason they left them is so they could come back when theyre finished.
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
Wow I would have to say that could possible be one of the most disrespectful things ever..
Then to leave them behind after butchering them.. great example of someone who needs to be shot id say..
50. cal's surrounding the perimeter should solve this problem =p ?
Good luck with future veg, hope you can keep away the pesky theives ..
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
i feel like my children were molested.
-
Indoor/Outdoor 2010 Grow log, Clones and seeds
alright so after a couple of weeks of recovery, the plants are starting to look better. I got raided pretty bad, and all of my main colas were chopped off when the bastards cloned them.
I had to move them one by one, in my back pack 30 mintues down the river. I found a sunnier spot that is hopefully a little more secure than the last area, but i still dont feel safe. Instead of planting them all in the same patch, i spaced them out and tried to disguise them a little bit with the blackberry bushes.
I just get upset thinking about how much growth and training time ive lost. I would have some nice bushes right now if it werent for thieves!
the last picture is one of the plants that didnt make it. Too much got chopped off + the slugs got to her.
