1000w hps. 4 plant Grow log

well guys my camera has been broken so i havent been able to keep you guys updated with all of my recent grows.

I would love to have posted pictures and talked about bending and LST'ing technniques during veg but like i said my camera was fucked up and i just got a new one. I bend and LST the shit outta these babies as an expirement to see how much you can really bend a plant(ive seen so many giant LST'd bushes on the internet i was envious lol)
I found at that LST is one of the EASIEST ways to increase yield. The only downside is the increased veg time. Topping requires around 2 weeks before the plant is truely recovered, but bending can be done even in flowering, with minimal stress to the plant(hence the term Low Stress Training


The setup:

Lighting:1000 watt hps(+250 MH during last 6 weeks)
Photoperiod: 13 light/11 dark I have read things saying that many strains will flower fine under 13 hours of light(in fact i read that it increases yield) so for this run i decided to do a little experiment...... i havent been deissapointed so far
Temperature: 80 degress during day, 65 during night
PH: 6.7(and if it fluctuates i just adjust my nutrient solution with ph up or down)
Growing Medium: Fox Farms Ocean Forest
Pot size: 7 Gallons
C02 Enrichment: only during veg
Fertalizer/supplements: Fox farm's grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom. Dark energy(that stuffs the shit and it smells like it), Cal mag +, Flora Nectar Pineapple rush, Atami Bloombastic(during last 4 weeks, and not to be used with the dark energy), and clearex to give them a nice flush.

so ill be back on later with a couple more pics. This grow is not located at my place of living so i will be back later with a little more of an update.

Its been so long since i can take pics I feel like you guys missed my whole grow!!

Wow lol we both have almost identical grows going except im not bending or LST'ing.. I got 4 ww under a 1000 w using the same soil got the same ph the same temps lol.. Only im using advanced nuets.. Good luck bro :thumbsup:

how are those nutes going for you. I love fox farms and ive always had good experiences with them, but i heard Advanced is the best in the bizzz. After this run I was thinking about going with the Sensi grow and bloom but just wanted to hear from personal experience. Ya know instead of listening to all of AN's ads that say its the shit. One thing Ive always noticed about FF is that the taste and smell is always kinda sweet and i almost feel like sticking with with.

I switched nuets about half way through veg on my current grow i was using gen hyp before that and i noticed a big difference right away in just the general health of my girls.. They turned a MUCH healthier looking green and started growing at a much faster rate lol.. But never tried FF so i dont know if it would be the same for you or not.. But so far NO complaints with them.. Im using the 3 part Grow Micro Bloom and Big Bud as a sup. Ill take some new pics tomorrow for ya :D Your girls look awesome i would stick with what your using now.. If its not broke dont fix it lol

Alright so in a few days i am going to throw in my 250 watt light. Its a Lumatek and is switchable from MH to HPS and i have both bulbs. I want to use the MH so i can give them some blue light and give them a more balanced spectrum. Ive never tried it, but ive read that combing MH and HPS and giving them the whole spectrum is the best possible way to light your garden. Has any one tried this? Or should i just give them the HPS bulb because it delivers more lumens if light to the plants?



Any thoughts? It would be appreciated.:thumbsup::rasta:

Those babies are looking nice man. Only thing i was thinking isnt a 1000watt and a 250 a bit overkill ? i dont persoanlly own either but just from reading i thought a 400 would have done em justice ! keep em green ;)

the thing is I have it just lying around. I was using it to flower some plants DWC plants in my closet buy im about to cut them down. So the light will not be in use. I mine as well throw it in there, the edges of the garden are looking a little dark.

Its actually a bigger room than you think, there is another plant on the left that is just barely in the picture. The plants are about 5 feet tall with the tallest top a little lower than my chin. I have about 2 more feet of headroom before i have to start worrying about height. If i had the money I would use 2 600 watters to illuminate this room so i could put the bulbs closer. The great thing about the 250 watt light is that it runs so damn cool, it wouldnt really impact the temp and i can put it extra close to the plants(like 10 inches).

all ive noticed with all of that light is big, fat, sticky green corn cobs. Ounces of them!!

3 weeks into flower.

nice probably no one can tell but that room is like 9x5':rastasmoke:

i officially cannot move myself, or the plants around in the room anymore.

I have been giving them Silica Blast by botincare in order to beef the stems up for flowering. Since i LST'd them there is gunna be a HUGE amount of weight on the bottom stems and stalks. A SCROG would be good for this grow except i cant get to the corners of the room to hang a screen. I can only crawl under the canopy, and thats the only way i can access the plants in the back

im never flowering under 12/12 ever again. 13/11 seems to be working great

I just cleared them all out with two waterings of Clearex.

I now am feeding them a Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, Flora Nectar Pineapple Rush, Atami Bloombastic, and Silicate nutrient mix. Im noticing a little bit of leaf burn with the Bloombastic but its nothing im really worried about. The burn is minimal and its just telling me that theyve had enough.





If you look close in the First pic youll Notice PURPLE!!! I will try and take nighttime pictures because 2 of the purple plants have developed dark purple colas that are hard to really see with the HPS lighting. Its starting to get stinky in here.:rasta::thumbsup:

Is that the same bloombastic that has diamonds on the box? The one that is very expensive? lol... Curious to see if its worth it. Have you used it before? Ever tried running a side by side comparison?

haha yes it is that stuff. Dont worry I DID NOT PAY MONEY FOR IT. The guy at the hydro store gave me a sample bottle(about half the size of the big bottle for like 89.95). It burns them if you use too much, its very concentrated so a little goes a long ways. I use 2 ML per 1 gallon of water.

I used it on my last grow but i didnt have anything to compare it with because all of the plants got fed with it.

fuck, i feel like i should have SCROG'd this grow. Colas are starting to lean, and i feel i could manage them better with a net, or something liket hat.

And this is only 4 plants....? OMG!... Looks like 30, I guess thats 1 of the bennefits of LST, I did take your advice I started to LST 1 plant to see where it would lead me, no idea on sex, I figure a few more weeks and ill know. I also fimmed 1 plant and it seems to be taking on all the extra light like a champ!

This is something I was considering trying, I figured it would probably work. It's nice to know that it is working for you. Although like you said, it might be strain dependant.

All of the strains i have are from bagseed. In my first couple of grows i sprouted and grew out maybe 30 bagseeds. Some of the strains grew very poorly, but i had a few that were keepers. I waited until all of the plants were in the 4th week of flower and took clones off of the best ones. Ive just been cloning and trying to improve on every strain that i have. Regardless i got pretty fucking lucky with the Purple strain. I would pay good money for those seeds on the interent,


Basically, i have no god damn idea what the hell they actually are. I have given my own names to them, but the real genetics are a mystery.

I have 3 different strains that i grow, 2 indica dominant strains and 1 sativa dominanate one. All of them jumped right into flower with the 13 hour days. I think some plants are alot more sensitive than others, but i also think 13 hours will do it just fine. I havent noticed a single problem, just more grotwth and it looks like my plants might mature a little faster than normal

Im an outdoor grower too and I always noticed my plants would sometimes sprout preflowers with about 14 hours of light. Indoors people usually use 12/12 because thats what they "heard" or read to do. I thought ide give it a try and im not turning back!

Alright so i just started flushing one of the plants, she looks like shell be ready sometime next week. I have yet to check them with the microscope but i will soon.

Things are starting to get heavy and lean a little bit.

I took a picture of all the nutrients and supplements i use. I feel like if my weed was an athelete, my shit would be Barry Bonds. I sure hope i dont turn retarted in a couple or grow a thrid testicle. Actually.......a third testicle wouldnt be that bad hahaa

I'd like to see these girls after they've been trimmed and dried.

up dated pics. 7 weeks into flower. Everything is going great and just putering along in the growroom.

Im noticing a little bit of leaf yellowing, but im not too worried about it. This plant is huge, and this is my highest yielding strain. It takes a little it longer to finish another 2-3 weeks maybe, but she really packs on the weight during the end.

God i just love the color of the purple bud. Definatly my favorite strain to grow, so beautiful. I have cultivated this strain at different tempertatures and the lower temps go the more of a dark grape purple it turns. With higher temps though it almost turns more of a pink. God dammit i wish i knew some genetics. I will be purchasing Soma Lavender seeds and breeding the male with my purps sometime in the near future. The purple plants are getting frosty everyday, and i aim to harvest at the 8-9 week mark. One more heavy nutrient feeding and then she gets the flush.


The last picture is of a plant thats getting the cut next week. Ive been flushing with clearex for the last 6 days, so another 4-5 days of plain water and shell get the scissors.

I have one question though. I've noticed that there are a few people on these forums who seem a little obsessed with the purple strains. Can you tell my why? Is it purely aesthetics, or do purple strains have a particular taste or aroma?

I remember smoking some purple weed about 6 or 7 years ago and it had a very distinctive taste and aroma that I liked (like Parma Violets, if you know what they are).

My purple strain has a very sweet and fruity. The taste is also very sweet and sometimes you can taste a little bit of berry. Its also a very smooth enjoyable smoke and i rarely cough even when taking big old bong tokes. Its way more enjoyable to grow, than to smoke though. The beautiful aroma takes over the other plants in the garden and it just looks so exotic next to my other plants. I just look at alot of other growers gardens and its all green!

You cant argue with the bag appeal of a bag of purps. People just look at the shit and go crazy over it. Just the color of the buds is so different. Even the cannabis butter i make from the trimmings and small buds is purple. No shit.

so basically the purple is just pretty to look at and has its own distinct smell and taste. Other than that, it grows just like any other strain.

When i did DWC hydroponics with the same strange, bud growth was different. It seemed like the calyx's got more swollen, kinda like skittles or little grapes.

If there is another grow in this same location, it will be with 5 gallon bucket monsters. I dont mind using soil but my passion will always be hydroponics. I just love having ultimate control of everything my plants take in. And with a good air pump and air stones(or whatever) you can give your roots way more oxygen than soil ever could.

... (be gentle, now!), you need a 'holdback' string, to keep the bend in place, and a 'front' string, to hold the now-sideways top in place pointing the other way.

The now-sideways top will do its darnedest to 'escape' the front string, so you basically chase it around the stalk in a spiral. It will sprout new 'tops' as it goes. Encourage this, and when those are 'old enough', tie 'em sideways, too, if you haven't already run outta 'main pot' with the mainstalk.

Do it gently, and most strains of pot love it.
