Worst Dispensary in the state..Mr Nice Guys

Anyone been to Mr. Nice Guys in South Denver? If you haven't dont. First off it's pitiful, its a one room operation with only 4 different types of pot. I saw they had "unknown soldier". Tasted like dirt weed. This fucking place is a joke. The older fella working there didn't even know what he was doing. He said he was filling in for his son who was working his other job. No literature displayed anywhere, just a chair and a desk. Don't waste your time. Seemed to me a guy named Jimmy used to run Mr Nice Guys. Now somebody else is. Jimmy was kind of a punk too so just stay away from this place. Mr Nice Guys gets my vote for worst Dispensary in the state.

I think Satica (near the corner of Galena & Hampden/Havana) has them beat as the worse as they actually had product with mold on sale. Only 4 or 5 strains, all looking like it was grown with a 65w CFL and to have mold on it. Wow doesn't get any worse than that. It's too bad too as the place itself is decent looking. It was the first time my girlfriend has ever seen me walk out of a dispensary with a look of disgust on my face.

Never been to any of those fine establishments, but I did check out "the farm" or some shit in Boulder. Their $250 an ounce strains(og kush, grape ape, several others) looked liked some hermie buds cut down 3 wks into flower. I wouldn't smoke it if if they GAVE it to me. I did end up getting some lemon haze, already pre weighed in a bottle which happened to be .2 short. $59 for 3.3 grams of some decent smoke.

Man those sound pretty shitty! My worst was Herbal Remedies in Westminster. They always have 1-2 huge ads in Westword. It was one of the first dispensaries I went to so I didn't have any comparison. But all of their stuff was up front in a case and it was pre-packaged. They sold "tops" of plants for a premium. But who in the hell is gonna trust 'em when they charge you $85 for 3.5 grams. I guarantee they consider every branch terminal bud a "top". I didn't get anything and never went back. The overpriced herb didn't even seem that good!

Nothing worse than those premature buds you see that are just pistils and leaves! I've seen a lot of that around.

I went into a place last November. Not sure of the name, but was up towards the Westminster area. Bars all over the windows, cameras everywhere, had to be buzzed in (all that isn't an issue but when it's you're first time going into a dispensary, it's a little unnerving)...

Anyway, got buzzed in, opened the door to a small ass waiting area. No one to explain the process. Luckily a fellow customer explained the process - pick a clipboard at the window. Clipboard has a menu on it (reminded me of a sushi menu). Checkmark what you want & turn it in. The window counterperson will call out your name when your order is ready. No chance to see/smell product, except you can view a tiny sample in the showcase on the wall.

Didn't get any flowers, but did pick up some lollipops & tincture to try out. The lollies actually weren't too bad but the tincture sucked.

That's the place, in the strip mall there right next to the chiropracter. I actually went there to get my card, but after they raised the price on me $100 I just left. They didn't tell me I had to pay more to have my own (or no) caregiver over the phone.

But yeah they let me in this front waiting room with a case full of buds and I didn't even have a card. I kept thinking that the customers with cards would be buzzed back where there was more to choose from, but 3-4 people came through and just picked stuff out of the case. So, that entire dispensary is basically a waiting room up front where you pick items from a case. There isn't even anything beyond the waiting room!! Maybe they grow their crappy weed in the rest of the building!

Yeah that place does suck, but their bud at least looked better than what I've seen elsewhere (pretty sure it's Cali though as it all looked like outdoor and it had been bricked at one time). Pesonally I'll take brick Cali over Colorado mold

You know I read these threads about how the bud looks, etc. All my life until about a month ago I just smoked whatever whoever had. How am I supposed to know what great bud looks like? If there is mold can you actually SEE mold? Yea I am naive but at least I am trying to learn! The disp. I go to (yea only one - because they started me out and have always been cool) seems ok - but since I don't REALLY know the difference in good and bad bud, I could just be their sucka! Anyway, school me --please.:hippy:

All dispensaries suck ass. They are either too expensive, or have bland weed!

Pure is the closest ive seen to meeting in the middle of price, quality

I'd really suggest getting a little handheld microscope so that you can check out meds for yourself. Also, be wary of any dispensaries that don't have a nice magnifying tool available for you to use, as that probably indicates that they'd rather people not take too close a look at their meds...

Here's a post I did on a moldy strain I got from a dispensary with some pictures so you can see what to look for: MMJinColorado - Moldy Meds Warning! | MMJ in Colorado. Basically, anything that seems fuzzy (it's generally white) and is not crystals, is most likely mold. It's difficult to see with the naked eye unless it's VERY bad -- the sample that I got I didn't notice it at all until I checked it out with the scope, then I could see the tiny white splotches on the leaf surfaces with my naked eye.

As far as general quality, here's what I look for:

1) Well-dried: meaning that the stems snap easily when bent and don't bend, as that indicates a LOT of residual moisture.

2) Well-cured: this is a lot harder to tell, but generally if a strain is not cured it will smell like hay, grass, or simply vegetable matter rather than something pungent like you'd normally expect. some strains simply don't have a lot of smell, but if you can't get much out of it when pinching it underneath your nose, etc., then it's probably just either a very crappy strain or it wasn't cured properly. Another way to tell is how it burns -- if it can't hold a "cherry" and you have to keep relighting it, or if it burns and there's a good amount of black ashes left as opposed to fluffy white ash, that means it probably wasn't dried/cured properly.

You can't cure it properly without drying it out well basically... shops that sell wet meds are likely not curing it at all and simply are trying to push out product as quickly as possible.

3) Good trich coverage: Trichomes are the crystals that you see all over quality bud. I generally make sure I see a visible layer of trichs before even considering a purchase. It's VERY rare to see strains without many trichs, but generally that means that it has been harvested for hash by the dispensary (probably by using a screen or something similar to knock the trich heads off of the plant) or was just of poor quality (possibly not let grow long enough, possible just an amateur grower).

That's my general guide. There's of course more to it, but that along with the basic mold inspection should help you get nice meds. Aside from the trichs/mold inspection, I rely almost entirely upon my nose... I can probably count on one hand the number of times that I've been impressed with a strain's smell but it did not deliver... that's my go-to measuring stick.

Here's the thing with the smell and perhaps it's me. The shop I go to like many shops carry many strains. Where I go it's probably 20+ at any given time. I get socked in the face with "a combination smell" before even opening the door. I smell and smell and it's rare I detect anything distinct until I get it home. Some seem to barely give off an odor in the shop, with my nose in the jar, but when I get home, I can put a gram in double bags and then a mason jar and it will still stink up the room.

I know of some places that have coffee available to cleanse your pallet. I think it was D9 but it was a nice idea.

It appears that most of the dispensaries I have visited do have some poorly dried/cured product, but most of the budtenders will say something like "This is not the best example of this strain." Not much of a consolation but better than nothing I guess.

It is important for the patient to be knowledgable with Medical Marijuana just as it's important for a patient to be knowledgable of anything that has an impact on their health. You want to know the side effects of a prescription drug and you should learn what you can about MMJ. This does not condone those vendors/dispensaries for selling poorly grown or cured medicine but its important to know what is best for you.

The wife and I decided to travel this weekend and check out some western slope disp. The one that I found the worst was Gods Gift in Clifton, meds were schwag and some girl named kristie working did not know shit, more of the parade around and look at me type person, found out later 2 of the owners were former meth dealers and one even suspected of murder, verified this by public info arrest records.

On a brighter note found a couple of good ones in Glenwood with the exception of one called CMD, their egos were bigger than my suv and their actually knowledge was pathetic to say the least.

Tree line Premier in Avon seemed to be the best in my opinion.

CAM has more vendor herb than you can imagine. Be careful what you're getting there because NOT EVERYTHING is great. There is great stuff, but I've also gotten utter crap there!:cool:

Shit, half of the times I've been in there there's a vendor selling some half-ass buds to them....

It's funny because in some places you need to trust the budtender and in other places you need to do exactly the opposite of what he says!!

I've found in the shady places (and even some reputable ones) if you ask for a recommendation they'll just pawn off the nastiest buds to you... or maybe ones that look good, but are too wet, not cured, or just not potent enough.

It's nice when you find some trustworthy peeps who'll actually recommend the best stuff to you instead of trying to push the stuff that's not selling...

I see good quality bud all day on the streets in our college towns of Boulder and Ft. Collins for 75.00 a 1/4 oz. Usually have to hit the streets to get past all of the fad bud like kush and diesel, so tired of those strains, do not get me wrong they were good on arrival but now they are like house guests and the fad is old.

Lamp, a personal question- What kind of herb/strains do you use to alleviate you medical symptoms? (I'm not asking you what your sick with or anything, I don't mean to literally to be that personal by any means) I'm asking you what you sway towards? Maybe I'm just lucky and haven't picked many lemons? Or maybe I not as shopped around as you are. Anytime I've felt rushed by heavy patient load, or my fav spots not being open, I've made bad decisions and have picked less good product I feel. Some personal favs though- I like Diesels/chemdogs, Kush's, DP, Blueberry

I hear shit's changing with the new laws coming and ultimately that sucks for growers and patients alike while dispensaries will reap profit. I've decided personally and for the better of the community that I'm not going to name stores any more or my opinions on thier strains that I've had had mixed experiences with because that's all it is- my experience. I stopped in, and I asked if something was organic, well, it turns out hardly anything was organic, plus I saw most strains had nanners, some had seeds. Clones looked like total crap, can't beleive any were still alive. This place gave me the creeps.

Definately in my bottom 5% of Denver dispensaries.

There's two locations of altitude organic med btw. Well, in Denver. One is in a green and brown building up north near Herbal Elements, and the other is down south in a big ol office building off of Evans and between Monaco and Quebec.

From just the most basic appearances, they don't look like they're operated by the same people. Altitude organic medicine South has a website, and they list "sister" dispensaries in Boulder, but not the place in Highlands.

I went to the one in Highlands. I didn't realize there were others by the same name, but since they used "organic" in the name I figured there might be some decent meds. Wrong. I still feel creeped out by that experience.

BTW, Herbal Elements is now in my top 3, I've been to about 40 disppensaries in Denver, about 10 in Boulder.

I'm starting to notice some bad dispensaries grow the low grade meds in their basement...

Your third post (granted this is my first) and you are displeased AOM (highlands) quality.

I've been four or five times in the last two months and did not have the same experience with quality as you.

What strains did you have a prob with? I lean towards the most heavy Indicas. Maybe we're looking at totally different meds.

How did you find the staff and the whole experience? I have no affiliation with them, I'm a newbie to CO and just thought that it was head and shoulders above the Chicago undergound scene that I came from.

Please anyone feel free to chime in if I'm way misguided as to what defines good MMJ or a good dispensary.

Rocky mountain farmacy (out of state owners) takes the cake on this one. Brown, tumbled, ammonia, trich less, stored in plastic jars with moisture packets,all smell like hay and look the same. They got some hydro they call "ultra premium"(far from the truth) it is unflushed and therefore makes it worse then brick weed unless you dig the Marathon hacking session and burnt throat effect for weeks after a hit or two. the free 1/8th they offer is not even worth giving away, and is still in my stash until i find an enemy to give it too. as well as the unflushed hydro grams i bought to give them one last chance. bottom line is, all their products are the worst in colorado and a warning, dont take the "free 1/8th a month caregiver program" scam, you wont want to smoke it.

you should give a review of this place its own thread.

only a tool would shop at the farmacy stores after reading this review.

Would have to agree, shitty place!!

They have pictures on the wall saying t"his is what itʻs supposed to look like but the grower fucked it up"..... powder mold on at least 4 strains, most weʻre hermie as well and the bud wasnʻt even remotely cured.

There are so many shitty Dispensaries, its better just to focus on the good ones:thumbsup:
