Hi All,.... Newbie to the forum, and to growing.
For our first grow we've picked up a Grandaddy purple clone, Nothing too advanced ATM, will be setting up a grow room over the next couple months,... In the meantime she can veg in the bedroom or out back. Wish me luck!:smokin:

Thanks, I'd link to an off site image gallery if I could,... but I managed to loose my password for PhotoBucket, and I'd kinda rather not have the pics there anyway.

Nearly a week has gone by, Not much progress.... I was hoping the little girl would take off better than this by now, but I'm really not set up as well as I should be at the moment.
The leaves at the bottom of the cutting are still on there but they are pretty yellow,... she's grown 3 new but there small, and the tips are browning up pretty quick. :( I know the first week or so with a clone can seem a bit rocky so my hopes are still high and she's starting to show signs of improvement.
She's potted in a #3 with Happy Frog soil, currently just using tap water that's been set out, tho not for 24 hours.
The wife found a little tiny grow lamp,... 15w and seems to be certain that it's enough with a small mylar inclosure in our closet. There's also a 4" fan blowing on her.
Still don't think I can post pics.

Found my way into the local hydro store and replaced the single 15 watt 18" T8 aquarium bulb with a 24" 4 tube T5 set from HydroFarm :cool:
Question, Should I remove the yellow leaves down at the bottom, The old growth ones from when the clone was clipped off the mother plant? :wtf:
Some people remove the old yellow leaves, some don't. Personally I prefer to let them fall off when the plant is done with them. If it was blocking the light to a lower healthy leaf, I would remove it.Quote:

Also got a thermometer that has humidity too. Temps are a bit high (85.5*), Humidity is WAY low (38%(It's Colorado, so no surprise))
After just one day under the new lamp she's stopped growing UP, and started sprouting branches from every single node,... even the ones that had leaves clipped off to root her! :pimp:

While you're getting your post count up so you can post pictures in your threads, go to your user cp (up top between Forum Home and Members list) and put your pictures in your photo album/pictures.

u were of to a bad start but it will grow good. lower your lights try to keep them like 4-5 inches from the tops.
I moved some things around in my grow "room" a little today,... got a consistent temp just over 80* now,... still no luck on upping my humidity. :(
It is colorado after all, It rained outside all day, and my max humidity was 40%
I've got the lights only 3.5-4" off the top of the plant, even in the picture's I've already posted,... she's still really small, only had her for a week today.
According to the ultimate grow dvd you can increase humidity by simply placing a bucket/container of water in your grow room.
A yellow leaf does not tax a plants resources. It is, in fact, in the process of being recycled. The plant uses much less energy to recycle components than to create new ones, so... removing yellowing leaves actually costs the plant rather than benefits it.Quote:

I would rethink that if I were you, my current plants vegged for 28 days and they are 3ft tall including the pots (currently 4 weeks into flower). Flourescent lights have poor light penetration, if you vegged for 4 months, the bottom of the plants would be so far away from the lights they would produce very little.Quote:

Even if you got better lighting, you would get a larger more consistent harvest with a shorter veg time. Keeping a low and even canopy is one of the secrets to getting a good harvest. Thats why scrog, sog, lst, and fim are such popular techniques for indoor growers.
4 weeks veg + 9 weeks flower = 13 weeks
16 weeks veg + 9 weeks flower = 25 weeks
You can get 2-4oz a plant with a 28 day veg period. You could grow 2 crops in the same time it took you to grow 1 crop with a 4 month veg period. If you set up a seperate veg room you can crop every 9 weeks.
Maybe somewhere in the middle then?:(
I'm only allowed 6 plants at any time, and a max of 3 can be flowering. I'm only growing for my house, and the amount of smoke per month is fairly low, around an ounce or so.:jointsmile:
LST is on my list of things to do,... possibly SCROG but for this first grow we are going all natural.:hippy:
I was thinking that when I get the proper grow room setup, I would grow 2 strains (3 each) and offset their life cycles by a month,.... So I'd harvest 1 plant each month, Just after harvesting the plant, I'm down to 5, so cut a clone off of the next plant of that strain to go into flowering, puting me back up to 3 of that strain,... Doing it this way would actually give me about 18 weeks of veg per strain, but still harvest every month or so.:weedpoke:

Have you ever seen the video 'Mr. Greens I Grow Chronic' ? He Harvests 4 oz every 2 months, with a 400w hps, co2, in a ebb and flow grow system.

I'm keeping everything in soil tho,... if I have any overgrow the dispensary's that I've talked to want "Organic" so they've gotta be grown in soil.:hippy:

I get the "all natural" thing, I did the same with my 1st grow. I was scared to try anything fancy and just wanted to watch and learn. :) I vegged for 39 days and I regret it, this time round I vegged for 28 and the plants are just as big as when I vegged for 39. I am even considering dropping to 21 days for my next grow. A friend of mine veggies for 14 days and gets 3-4oz a plant.Quote:

Has anyone used Happy Frog soil? The Hydro store said I shouldn't need any nutes for a month at least, and only really need them for flowering "IF" I wanted to use them, kinda made it sound like I didn't really need anything to boost yeild/ increase potency.:wtf:

Coco is ground up coconut shells, it looks like soil but it isn't and is considered a hydroponic medium. It has certain advantages...Quote:

Yep,.. I've been watching, I'd help out more but I'm about tapped out for knowledge. The guy at the dispensary got me pointed in the right direction when we picked up the clone. I'm kinda playing by ear from there out.
yah me too i know a little bit from studying cause i read up on it for about a month before i started but there is hella more info out there for me to absorb im not to wurried if this grow doesnt work out as planned cause its my first but it would be hot as fuck if i pick it up good so far ive been having a lot of fun doing it even if all i get is males ill make sum hash outa it atleast

My little girl is looking pretty good IMHO It's a bit tough to tell if she's needing anything other than water tho,... since she's a grandaddy purple she's got a blue hue to her leaves,... I'm going to go on the idea that that's a Good thing!:thumbsup:
Her branches are starting to stretch out away from the main stem on a couple of the nodes
Temps today stayed between 83.4 and 74.7 Humidity still WAY low, 29% min 36% max.... I dug out the humidifier and added it to the closet,... I'm letting things settle out and will post my new stats later. :jointsmile:

Things seem to be happy,... I'm gonna turn her up from 18/6 to 20/4 for tonight with the higher humidity.

sorry dont mean to thread steal but i wanted to ask you my baby doesnt seem to wana grow more leafs for some reason the 2 bladed leafs are gettin big as fuck tho but for sum reason im on day 7 and i just cant get it to grow more leafs its really brain rattling to me mind helping?
I had the same trouble germinating seeds when I was in my teens (almost 2 decades ago) I didn't know shit about what I was doing then either.....
I'll note that you haven't added to your log,... or either of the other threads you started,... so the lack of in focus pics doesn't help much.
You've upped the lighting on advice from me,... and If I Remember Correctly you repotted in Non fertilized soil on advice from someone else?
It's a plant,... it needs light to make energy to grow more,... The first two leaves are gonna get big 1/2" or so before they will start making enough energy for the sprout to start the next set of leaves ;)
Give your sprouts some time, This is a waiting game (I'm well into Week 2 with a CLONE and as of yet her biggest leaf is only the size of a silver dollar! :wtf: )..., post pics in your grow log in the meantime! :thumbsup:
