Fear while smoking

Okay, I don't know why but I've been a little concerned to post this, but I have to get everyone's opinion on this. I used to be a HARD-CORE weed smoker. Many times a day, everyday. Well about 6 yrs ago my dealer had moved to another county so I was dealing with someone I didn't really know all that well. Needless to say he laced my shit. :(

I didn't know he did till after I took a single hit off a pin J. A single hit! It had this horrible burning sensation that burnt all the way down to my chest. Not like the typical "burn" this was different in a way that I don't know how to put into words. My heart started racing (normal), but then my throat went completely numb. Everytime I drank some water or anything I would choke on it somewhat.

This went from a bad trip to a panic attack very quick. Not only was my throat numb, but all tactics to break the buzz had failed. I tried working out, taking a shower, drinking VD Milk, and Vitamin C. Nothing was working so I tried to lay down to go to sleep. Then I started getting major chest pains. I finally took some Tylenol PM's and knocked myself out. The next day I was still feeling it. I hated it. It had been a horrible situation. It was so bad in fact I stopped smoking for 5 yrs.

I've just recently picked it back up. Now everytime I smoke I have that fear. I have to talk to myself so I won't go into a panic. I have to keep reassuring myself that it's normal to feel "high" while smoking. That is the point of smoking. I smoke alone too which really don't help situations. I just don't know anyone else that smokes to be able to burn one with. The only person that I know that smokes is the person I get it from now.

I love weed. I really really do. even when I wasn't smoking I have posters, blacklights, and even bongs depicting marijuana leafs. I wanna smoke and not worry about the panic attacks. I'm on anti depressants which supposed to help with panics, and the such but it only takes the edge off. Do you think I should talk to my doc about the panics or deal with them myself? I still smoke I just smoke TINY portions at a time. Please help me with this situation. It would really mean a lot to me. I'm kinda spilling my heart out to you forum. :computerlove1:

you could try:

switching to a different strain
only smoking with others
take a break for a week or a month
maybe, it just isn't for you..

One thing to remember dude, what happened to you isn't common, most of the time it is just a myth and most people will go through their entire lives without something like this happening. So basically what I am saying, chances are nothing like that will ever EVER happen again.

As far as your story goes, are you even sure it was weed, sounds like you smoked some really nasty shit, like random leaves glued together or some shit, dunno, crazy story :D

That sounds shitty mate, it's horrible that you went through that. But I agree with redlocks, the chances are it will NEVER happen again. I've never heard of anythin like this before, and hopefully never will.
And as to help the situation, I reccomend smokin with people you trust, they don't need to smoke, but it's just nicer to be around people you feel comfortable with and can rely on if anythin happens again. If you do however smoke alone, just make yourself as comfortable as possible, make sure you have nothin to do, sit back and take a few hits. Put your mind at ease and just enjoy the high you know and love

Dude,first things first,Relax!! like Locks said that isnt common.If you gotta buy on the streets,ask someone you trust who they hookup with.If that happened to me id be pissed,no tellin what would end up happening to that guy. Once you have an awesome rapore(SP) with your guy or guys you have nothing to trip on.I'm on anti-depressants too so I completely understand what your talking about with panic attacks and such,but thats not really what they are for.Anyways cheer up man every dealer isnt a punk ass,usually quite the opposite in my experience.

i wish my dealer would lace my weed and hook me up with some free stuff.

Like everyone said, it is uncommon to have an experience like that. It is common, however, to let your imagination run wild and fall into the trap of thinking too much. If you just started smoking again, this could be because you are getting really high and are not used to it. I would reccomend to just try to relax when you smoke, take some deep breaths if you start to feel overly anxious, listen to calm or happy music, and don't forget its just your mind playing tricks on you. Eventually you will be back in the saddle.

Like said before, being relaxed plays a big role in whether or not you get paranoid or have a bad experience while smoking. You may not be able to force yourself to be relaxed and calm, but thats fine. Just smoke whenever the time is right... Dont sit around and wait until you feel good but perhaps on a nice day where youre in a good mood and don't have a lot on your mind to be stressed about. Try to stay thinking about positive things when you spark up and take time between hits. Hopefully you stay relaxed enough. If not, listen to some of your favorite music or watch your favorite tv show.

I can't say for certain if this will solve your problems, but it should make for a better smoking experience.

Thats what I try to do when I smoke. I try to get my mind off the anxiety part of the trip. I used to not have these problems. I mean I would smoke out sometimes and get a little paranoid, but nothing like what happened that time around. I just wish I had someone to smoke with. Someone that could just guide me through it a couple of times. I don't want to sound like a wuss or anything I just wanna be back like old times. Calming, soothing, funny, etc.

Whenever I take breaks from smoking my palms get really sweaty when I start up again and have a terribad time filled with anxiety till I regain my tolerance ( usually only takes a few sessions of smoking tough )

EDIT: I also have noticeable anxiety when I smoke TOO little or TOO much, haven't really had anxiety from smoking too much for a long bit, but if I only suck down a bong bowl (use to at least 3-4) then I get anxiety.

Hang out where people are usually smokers. Make some friends, hang out sometime. Just find people you can trust smoking with I guess. If you think too much about it it will probably just bother you more.

See that is what I am trying to avoid. That stupid anxiety. Maybe I should be on meds for panic disorder instead of just anxiety. Stupid thought? I dunno anymore.. It depresses me just to think about it.. :(

I smoke hookah sometimes, it helps with anxiety. There are a lot of anxiety meds that have the potential to turn you into a zombie(xanax,valium etc). Try vitamin B-12 it's suppose to be an anxiety reliever, some of my family members take it and say it works. I read a great post on here awhile back about how it's all in your head and controlling anxiety, good read... I'll post if I can find it.
