Lush green droopy twisty bottom leaves

Hi guys, i have droopy, twisty leaves at the bottom of my 4" plants (the first set of leaves, slightly in second set) the are green and one has very slight browning at the tips of the leaves, the serated tips. I'm thinking over fertilizing, so i added 2 more liters of PH adjusted water to my 16 liter basin.
Oh ya it's a hydro setup.


What is your experience level? - Second time at it.

Your Equipment:
.1) Type and wattage of lights.- HO Flourescent, 24 watt x 2 (24")
.2) Distance from tops? - 2 inches
.3) Reflector type? Bare Bulb, reflective mylar above and all sides
.4) Is there a consistent fresh air supply? yes
.5) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan? no circulation fan, inlet comes from below tray
.6) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule? 24 watt, 6400k, 24 hrs

Your medium:
.7) Specific brand and type of soil, (coco, peat based soilless...) and anything you've added to it. (vermiculite, perlite, worm castings...) 2x2 rockwool cube and orchid rocks
.8) Size of container. - 6" basket
.9) Did you use peat pucks (or similar) to root clones or germinate seedlings? no rockwool cubes

Your nutrients and water:
10) Source of water? (tap, bottled or filtered) What's it's ph before adjusting? Tap water, about 7 ph
11) Method of checking water ph. (ph pen, test strips, aquarium test kit...) aquarium test kit
12) Method of adjusting water ph. (phosphoric acid, white vinegar, hydrated lime, PH Up...) - PH Down (phosphoric acid)
13) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule. - Wild Thing A,B and M. (A - 0-9-6) (B - 5-0-0) (M - 1-0-1) 3 ml each for each Liter of water, using 16 liters of water
14) How often are you watering between feedings, and how much per watering? - Hydro setup, currently water every 3 hours for 20 mins, half way up the basket
15) Any additives or tea's? (Superthrive, CalMag, molasses, Mother's Earth...) No
16) Are your ph levels stable, or do they fluctuate? - first week i had a daily drop in ph, now after the second replacement of water in the basin the ph is stable
17) What is your ingoing water's ph? ...your runoff ph? Ingoing adjusted to 6.0 - 6.5, runoff is consistant with ingoing.
18) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you spray? - Did at the begining with PH adjusted water, but not anymore.

Your growroom:
19) Indoors or outdoors? - Indoors
20) What size of closet, room or hut? - 2.5" x 2" x 2" (L x W x H)
21) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off? - almost constant 74 degrees, humidity fluctuates with watering 40% to 60%
22) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom? Never

Your strain:
23) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?) Indica dominate (Special Kush #1 for royal queen)
24) From seeds or clones? seeds
25) Is this an autoflower strain? no

I'm not a hydro guy, but I did notice a couple of things...

High output fluorescents aren't effective beyond a few inches. So if the Mylar is obstructing airflow, I'd ditch it. (the light has to travel to the mylar, then bounce back to the plant) Flat white paint is the cheapest alternative over the long haul.

From what I understand, it looks like your ph is a tad high for hydro.

Using fluorescents, the lower regions of the plant don't recieve enough light for vigorous growth, and will look like that till you get more lumens on 'em.

Do you have a ppm meter to check reservoir?

my books and nutrient chart says hydro between 6.0 -6.5 ph. My system is in a bag (wraped in poly) so i sucks from bottom and 120 cfm fan on top pulls air out (on a dimmer switch running like 20%)

3 plants under each light tube (2100 lumens) the other three are just sprouted seedlings

maybe drying out, havent sprayed the leaves in a week

Hydro ph should be between 5.5 and 6.2.
I try to keep mine i the upper 5's.

Ya might want to poke around the Hydro Forum. Loads of good advise and examples there. ;)

so i adjusted my ph to 5.5 and i put reflectors over the t5's and mylar over the table (under the plants) and i noticed my humidty was around 37% so i misted the plants and mylar surrounding.

the top leaves are lush green with new growth, but on the bottom they are still curled at the tips and 1 plant has burn (brown) tips, the leaves have a slight yellowing (really just less green) on 1 as well. And the first set of leaves as still twisted. Now like i've said i've readjusted the ph, added another 2 liters of water this morning, how long would it be before i'd notice a change and is this nute burn?

Old leaves are old news, and usually don't recover. Pick them off the soil when the plant discards them. Other than that, I'd leave 'em alone. (don't want to add stress via trimming off the dying stuff)
Watch the new growth for any further problems. Changes can take a few days to a couple of weeks to notice improvement, depending on the severity of the issue. I wouldn't expect an overnight change, as new growth might still be showing stress for the next week. (usually ph issues clear in about a week)
Ph issues will lock-out nutrients, so doubtful you are burning the ladies...unless you've been upping the dilution rates in hopes of clearing-up the issue.

Might want to think about switching to 18/6 light schedule. Some folks disagree, but I'm a firm believer that cannabis grows better with a dark period. (healthier, fuller, happier ;) )

I'm still not a hydro guy, so someone else will have to check your spray durations and times...and quantities of nutes. :thumbsup:

the new growth looks perfect, just the old leaves had the issues, growth rate seems normal(little faster now the plant is bigger)
