Ugly build-up to House health care vote

Demonstrators hurl N-word, spit at black members of Congress.

I can understand people not wanting a bill to pass. When any bill comes up for a vote, there will be people for and against it. But for people to use such behavior is shameful.

I remember back in the 60's, the riots in Milwaukee and Chicago. I remember the national guard posting troops on street corners. I remember my own mother not being able to come home till they got the sniper off the roof where she worked. Are we to return to that?

When I first heard of the Tea Party, I thought it may be a good thing. Now that they have shown their true colors, I see that it is not.

I guess even though we are in the 21st century, there are a lot of people with paleolithic ideas. So sad.

Bills should be voted for, or against, because of their merits or lack there of, not because of the color of ones skin or sexual orientation.

I just hope the rest of the world don't think all Americans are like these hate mongerers.

What you are seeing now is same old same old. Look back through the ages. While we live in turbulent times, it has always been that way.

What is different this time is the instant news cycle. In any country of 300,000,000 or so the only way to get noticed is to kill someone. Next best thing is to be as rude and obnoxous and make a lot of noise to get some attention.

America through the ages has done some things that we are not proud of. From Interment of the Japaneese, or Mc Carthyism, to wipeing out a native people, to fighting a war with itself over slavery, just to name a few, our hands are not clean. And they never will be.

So Relax. Smoke a joint while you are waiting. Time and change are powerful forces. The old will die and with them their rigid ideas. The only thing certain is change. The eyes you see through will change with time.

Have a good full life. That's the best revenge.

Now I will take another hit and go back to picking at my navel.

It seems the dems may have asked their wives for their balls back (she keeps them in her purse) and will enact what they were put into office for.
Obama's recent stumping for health care is long overdue.

I'm afraid this goes far beyond issues of age related idealism. I know young people who are very rigid in their thinking and old people who are more flexible.

Indeed, hatred and prejustice predate our civilization, and may linger far after we are all distant memories. There may have been some survival value for it, in mankind's distant past, but that time has past. I think today this behavior serves people's impoverished egos, and/or it gives them a sense of belonging. The only way they can seem to belong, is to exclude. Never the less this behavior is antiquated and un-necessary in today's society.

The eyes I see through are the ones given me. In my 52 years they have changed little. On the other hand, the world they perceive has changed much. I can only hope they are allowed to see many more years of change, and that change is for the better. The change happens starting with one person. You, me or some one else who sees injustice and speaks up.

It is possible for people to change. Let me tell you of one man I knew who changed.

I used to know a man down in Tucson. He was getting up there in age and was very prejustice. He was always making rude comments about races different from his. Then one day, we were all waiting around to get our daily assignments, when he started spinning around like a top and fell to the ground. One of my friends rushed over to him and started administering CPR. This kept the old man going till the paramedics got there. It saved the old mans life. The friend who saved him was a black man.

After our old prejustice coworker was able to return to work, we noticed he had changed. No longer was he bitter and prejustice. His thinking turned around 180 degrees. His crisis at work may have been the best thing to ever happen to his peace of mind. He seemed to be so much happier. Getting along with every one, and not considering difference in anyone. This crisis made his remaining days, happy days, with more friends who loved him than he could have imagined.

Maybe people will change and love one another one day. Perhaps it will not take a near death experience for mankind to get there. Perhaps it will.

Of course, that's because human civilization is still is still in it's early stage. People are so inclined to have a self serving bias, we all think we are so mighty and advanced, when in reality, we are crude savages. Not just people in America, but everywhere. You just have to play the game and know that everything is running its proper course. right?

wow they certainly know how to find the dumbest people to interview. Its such a shame how all these people have no idea why the hell they are standing outside picketing. All they can say is "tort reform" and talk crap. I don't care whether the bill gets passed or not, I just love how people can be so closed minded and not even care enough to actually find out what the bill ACTUALLY says instead of hear say.

Just to help out anyone that is unable to follow the above bouncing off the wall attempts at posting, the alleged racist remarks have been debunked by a 48 second video of protestors yelling, booing and chanting "kill the bill", and the Pelosi comment from "last week" is a story from about a month ago
