Dilemma

Well, I'm registered, have my card and am off the prescription meds. But, no one has cannabis. So, do I hold out and let the meds get out of my system and deal with the withdrawals until there is some available or do I get back on the meds and play the waiting game (jeopardy theme not included)?

I'm not into buying illegally. That just makes we waaaay too paranoid. Plus I don't know anyone that sells (being a good little Mormon boy) and I wouldn't buy if I did. I want to be 100 percent legal.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guess I can get back on the meds and deal with the side-effects. ::sigh:: Come on New Mexico. Get on the ball. We need more dispensaries.

That sucks! I think I would try stepping down your dose rather then just stop taking your med's. Depending on what they have you on this can be a very difficult process.
As far as MMJ goes I really cant help you being out of state but if you were in Colo I could give you a hook up with someone.

Check your local Craigslist. You might find a grower with extra meds from their own grow.

Hi Totah Sam,

Would you be so kind as to tell us the overall attitude of the Mormon Church and/or membership, when it comes to MMJ.

I met a few Mormons when my car broke down in Utah. They seemed very nice. At the time, I didn't have any reason to consider MMJ, so I didn't think to ask such a question.

Are the Mormons a large voting block here? I hope so if they are for MMJ. :hippy:

You have PTSD right Sam? You have to be real careful how you do this. This suggestion sounds aiiiight to me,rather than dropping all of your meds. If I did that I'd end up in jail or the hospital. Be careful man,really,things can change around you that you won't even notice before it's too late.I DO speak from experience,be well.

Dude if the medicine you are on is psychotropic rather then percocet or some other narcotic I would seriously listen to what Chance has to say.
PTSD can trigger at anytime anywhere and without the right meds in your system you could lose it.
If you are having a problem with the med's and the side effects I advise you to see your doctor about changing meds. But do not just stop taking them.
This can lead to a very dark place. I know, I've been there.

BTW, please don't take this wrong, I'm not trying to be an ass, but I have always wondered if there is any truth to the South Park episode about Mormons? Do they really believe that John Smith read the book of Mormon from seer stones in a hat?

The church, being the bastion of conservatism in the southwest, is against legalizing Cannabis. However, having a medical card and following the laws of the state is merely frowned upon.

I am in agreement with you on being 100% legal. Some of the kind folks here have given me some sage wisdom in achieving that goal.

HOWEVER, PLEASE be VERY CAREFUL with removing yourself from your medication cold turkey. I have attempted that with some of the medications that I was on and it could have potentially ended in a very bad way.

I really encourage you to speak with your doctor on this. Let him/her know your concerns and that you want to be off of them.

It's legal in the State of New Mexico. That's my only concern. I'm not planning on smoking federally. :D

The state of NM is inside the United States so you're "smoking federally" whether you like it or not. The state will not help you if the feds come after you because they know federal law trumps state as far as the government is concerned. Now, you may want to blow off the federal law as many have because of what your state says, but don't claim the high road saying...

You, like many others in the program would not want to buy it illegally because you're afraid of getting caught (or do not have the resources to do so), not because you have this great respect for laws and want to obey them all. You will never be 100% legal until the federal goverenment says so.

come out of it and get past it.I was raised in the "christian" church and discarded all that nonsense long ago. Well, unfortunately for your argument the DOJ does not have the ability to pass or change laws, only enforce them. And despite an administration that's friendly to the cause, there are still raids today on medical grow ops in California by DEA agents. What is the DEA's excuse for the raid? Marijuana is an illegal drug, totally (yes, medically too), under federal law. This will be the case until congress passes a bill, which the prez would have to sign into law, stating otherwise.

It just needs to be removed as a schedule 1 drug.

:greenthumb: exactly. we don't need an act of congress just an act by the FDA. I think most of the DEA raids under the new admin have been against gang and organized crime related coops, (those that affect interstate black market commerce and are not within the State laws and regulations). They are just pruning the water leaves. :)

I feel your pain. This is totally unacceptable. I have been reading similar complaints since day 1.

If you can schedule the time I suggest you go the review meeting on March 30th. You should all go for that matter. Sadly I will be out of town, but a friend of mine will be reading a letter I wrote in my stead.

I decided to quit the Paxil. I think I can handle a panic attack or two until I get some medication. I can't believe how fast the depression came crashing down on me though. WOW! :eek: I guess the Paxil was doing more than I thought it did.

Meanwhile, I'll just keep passing the open windows and hope for the best.

I haven't heard back from any of the dispensaries. Anyone have an update on that?

I have been on antidepressants before to help with the chronic pain. Going cold turkey was not an option (although I tried)...I got "Brain Shivers" that had me calling my docs ASAP!

I don't have my card yet so I don't know on the producer side of things. Maybe coolslayer has heard something but I haven't seen him on here in a couple of days.

That is true,but the Lynn and Erin Compassionate Use Act gives the NM DOH leeway to modify the MMJ program conditions as they deem necessary.

I spoke with my doctor yesterday (one step closer to turning in the application:thumbsup:) and he had heard that the producers will be having product any time now. He may have just asked the producers or one of his other patients.

I guess the way the producers have such a hard time keeping up with demand, it is a good idea to grow your own.

Hey, if a card carrying person buys some marijuana from someone on the street, and the police sees this, would they arrest the dealer and let the card carrier go? Would they allow the card carrier leave with their purchase?

I'm thinking they would arrest the dealer. Seems kind of messed up. :(

You know Pepurr....that is a REALLY good question!

It is easy to find someone to sell to you regardless of whether YOU are legal or not. Even if the fuzz didn't pop the dealer he would have a lot of heat from then on because of you. What I get is "let me know!",like they want to try some med grade smoke,when they are slanging White Rhino:wtf:. My answer is yes,they will pop the dealer. Besides it is never good to have people you know lose money because of you,makes bad things happen.

My grow application was rejected. I just found out today. I don't know what more I could have put down. So, growing my own is out of the question. Why does this have to be so hard?
